Baristas can be true lifesavers—they make that delicious, sweet coffee that gets us through the day, they supply the masses with tasty shakes on a hot summer day, and basically provide a much-needed service that all of us have used at least once. But not all is good in barista land. For one, they belong to customer service, which comes with its own challenges that have long been documented. Another difficulty for baristas can be... their job as a whole.

A Twitter user who goes by human plushie (@INTERNETM1LF) started a viral thread where people posted the kind of ridiculous orders they've received from customers (and each one needs to be fulfilled—that's the service, after all). There's a whole plethora out there, and here are some of the more notable ones.

More info: twitter.com

The orders can range from absolutely bland, something akin to water with little to no flavor, to an essay length of requirements that the barista will have to figure out. And let's not forget, because the customer is always right, these drinks become a true challenge of willpower. Some even asked for a bee in a cup... Why? No one knows, but it's there.

And these orders aren't generated at a single central point—you can find them in all the cafes and shops that offer drinks. The majority do come from Starbucks, but there's a Dunkin' Donuts in the list too. Basically, no barista is safe from the scourge of silly orders, for which we can only offer our sympathies.

This sort of thing should be forbidden, for the health of the community. Nobody wants a monster like this customer in our midst

36 pumps of syrup and 23 pumps of sugar?! That's just diabetes in a cup.

Maybe they bring their own rum or cachaca (hence "no whip")? OK I may be an optimist.

Love the no whip. Wouldn't want to add any unnecessary sugar to this order. The Frap mix is just for color.

The person probably ordered it to take it home rather than buy a bottle of syrup.

I think someone is stocking syrup to make lemonade at home. There is no way anybody could drink this.

Liquid sugar, with sugar, sugar, and some more sugar. The customer isn't human, they're a flock of humming birds in a trenchcoat.

We all probably have our favorite drinks, but these orders take it to the next level. And seeing how some of them are very excessive or just downright mocking, it's safe to say that customers sometimes go overboard. This also gives a glimpse into why so many baristas look overworked (or forget your name... they have mile-long orders to remember!)

Um...did they write 'Salina I love you' so that the Barista would have to shout SALINA I LOVE YOU to the whole café??

" can I get an iced Berry lemonade just with no ice berry lemonade?" "you sure?" "positive" later " I have an iced Berry lemonade with no ice berry lemonade, for Kaila!" * all heads turn*
