I Like To Make Birds Out Of Balloons
12Kviews
I am an artist that likes to experiment with everything. I mostly paint, draw and make robots, but I love to experiment with stuff.
A few years back I learned how to make some balloons for my niece, and basically it got out of hand… I love animals, especially birds (British birds in particular) so thought I would have a go at making some out of balloons.

I use qualatex balloons and they claim the natural latex they use degrades as quickly as an oak leaf
Although I since found out oak leaves can take four years to break down! I would never EVER leave a balloon outside anyway. And I’ve kept all the spent ones until I figure out how to get rid of them properly.
I’ve gave myself a nervous condition listening to them burst all the time. Worth it!

At first I thought: it's ironic that you like birds but then you use material that kinda kills them, so I was super glad when I read that you use a natural material! Great! I especially like the woodpecker.
Yeah its a difficult one. I would never EVER leave latex, natural or otherwise outside though. I have them all stored at home. I dunno what I'm going to do with them. Maybe burn them or something??
I heard that shipments of condoms were diverted and the latex was used to make flip flops. maybe there is a way to mold sandals out of old balloons?
yeah I know , I should have waited and posted it all in one... what studies ? I cannot find any studies? Who ran them? If the people selling this stuff ran the studies, can anyone else get the same result?
sorry edit: have you tested the balloons to see if they do degrade ? and what do they degrade into? and is THAT toxic?
How toxic would the burn off be ? You are obviously a very creative person, can't you come up with something that is less toxic to dispose of? For example sculpturing in wool can be amazing. And wool will compost nicely.
I did not think I could be super impressed by balloon animals. I was wrong.
Cute little birdies
