We’ve all had that very worst day combo. 3 hours of sleep combined with a car that won't start, add piles of work sitting on your desk and a call from tax inspection (add your scenario here) and voila, your day has just turned into a nightmare. Call them first world problems, but whoever has been there knows very well just how much it takes to cool off your boiling blood.
Luckily, there’s one band-aid known to humanity that eases this pain. And it’s knowing that someone out there is going through a wayyy worse day. Like, worse². Both vile and soothing, we present you with Bored Panda’s compilation of the most severe day-breaking fails that are impossible not to laugh at.
For those who are dealing with even more severe worst day situations, please get an extra dose of others’ misfortune on our previous posts here, here, and here. And remember that at its worst, a bad day can only last up to 24 hours.

I'm 49. Just Found This In My Mum's Bookcase
Depending on how long it took to see that book, the title may be correct.
Heckin Bots
It’s crazy how much some unlucky incidents and totally random things can change the course of our day. In reality, every one of us can go from joyful to plain wrecked in a moment for countless reasons. Spilling your takeaway coffee on a blouse is one, getting a call you didn’t expect is another, and the list goes on.
Bored Panda reached out to Amy Morin, a psychotherapist and author of the book “13 Things Mentally Strong People Don't Do,” to find out more about why such random things like spilled coffee can be an instant day-breaker. Amy explained that it all has to do with us letting negative thoughts in.
“When you believe things like the world is unfair or nothing in your life ever goes right, you experience upsetting feelings.” It’s especially true “when something doesn't work out the way you hoped.”

When The Bakers Make The Mix Wrong And Don’t Realize Yeast Doesn’t Just Stop Working Because It’s In A Dumpster
But what if we teach ourselves to become immune to both small and large misfortunes? Amy suggests that we can, in fact, train positive thinking. “When you notice unhelpful thoughts like, 'This is awful,' or 'Nothing ever goes right,' respond to the thoughts in a more productive way.”
This is the essential point when you can still save your day from breaking. This is why you should try to reframe the sudden negative thoughts into something more realistic. “For example, if you're thinking it's unfair that you have to wait for traffic, remind yourself, 'There are millions of cars on the road. Traffic jams are bound to happen. I'll be OK,'" Amy suggested.

Of course, there are people with a personality that makes it easier for them to be positive, but it doesn’t mean all the others should stay in misery. “Everyone can develop a healthier, more realistic mindset,” Amy urges.
“You can train your brain to look for the good in the world and develop the mental strength you need to perform and feel your best.” Start from small steps like reframing negative thoughts into realistic facts, and grow your positive thinking into a habit.
Accepting things for what they are and not for how they make you feel can be truly therapeutic. In this way, you no longer blame yourself for something as ridiculous as spilled coffee and the day, it keeps on shining.

Was Having Valentine's Day Dinner When I Went Downstairs To Check On Why The Heat Wasn't Working. Found 4 Feet Of Water Covering The Entire Basement
This reminds me of the year when we all gathered at my grandma's for Christmas. The first day the kids came running telling us there was a "river" running from one of a wall in the basement. Most of us thought they were playing, but grandpa went to have a look. A pipe had frozen and the basement was filling up. He had to turn off the water. Chrismas, 19 persons and no water. Could it get any worse? Of course, it can. A storm with heavy snow passed that night and the whole area lost electricity as well as phone contact. The roads where blocked and we could not leave until two days later.
Allergic To Almost Everything On The Allergy Skin Test. Some Of It Was So Swollen The Doctor Could Barely Tell Which Was Which
I had to do these tests when I was a kid, and that's the reason to why I absolutely refused to have them done as an adult a few months ago. It's possible now days to test a blood sample which is much much better! Putting an allergic child through these tests is torture, trust me.
Those allergy prick tests are bloody awful, especially if you have a lot of allergies like myself and the person pictured. Super itchy.
I had the same problem when, as a child, my family moved to Midland, TX.. When my test was completed, according to my Mom, the doctor told her, "This young man was intended for life on another planet.".
I have eczema and one time I was so broke out that my arms were really bad swollen. They were so swollen that the skin popped open. I also passed out in the bath.
My brother went through this as a kid. I think he was allergic to my mother.
My neighbor had the same thing, turned out they were allergic to alcohol swabs, to all alcohol actually,
I couldn't have this test as they were worried I'd react like that or worse. This person is very lucky they didn't end up in anaphylactic shock!
when they did that to my brother, he reacted to the control. which was plain water
30 allergens = 30 welts = JACKPOT! We're all allergic to something eventually. ;)
Poor thing.... my son has asthma and the day after he came out of a 28hr coma his dad wanted them to do a allergy test :O
When my oldest was 3, he had the same test, and reacted even worse than that. He was literally crying, and after the measurements were taken, I asked if the allergist would give him some Benadryl. She looked at me funny and asked why he needed it. I promised him he would never take him back to that allergist again. The new allergist told us we could have just done a simple blood test. We took our younger child directly to the new allergist.
mine was worse started puking after a few minutes ,and face swelled up like a ballon
I used to work in an allergy/asthma dr's office. We did these tests for a lot of people. We would have little kids (usually girls) sail through the tests and came out smiling. Then we would have these tough looking, tattooed guys or service members come in and they would be wrecked! It always gave us an eye roll!
Had to have the same thing done with my son. We moved to Tennessee from Arizona. Arizona doesn't have many plants that produce pollen so the pollen count is always nearly nonexistant. However, the opposite is true of Tennessee. He suffered so much. Took him to an allergist and he too reacted to virtually everything they tested him with. I felt so bad for him.
This is a reaction of a teenager who never gets out of bed. Teenagers this is what happens
I had this reaction all over me before I even got the test. I had a headache and wasn't allowed to take my allergy meds for two weeks prior to the test. Record reads "Patient presents symptoms in the waiting room". Turns out the one thing I could take before the test was Motrin (which I told them). So I was sent home without a test or any idea what was the culprit. Took motrin once more two weeks later, my face swelled up, body laced with hives like this, and stopped breathing. I was allergic to the motrin.
gosh this is the genetic lottery pits. i always thought i had bad skin when i was young. body acne and pimple but turns out i had very poor diet, too much sugar and not enough good gut flora for a healthy 'biome'.
Ah, yes. Same here, had it done on my arms (for "only" 20 things). The nurse came back and said "ow, you won this unfortunate bingo game". I sat there with two swollen superitchy underarms.
I had the old scratch test done 38 years ago. My entire back was covered with red wheals like that. The allergist said I was the worst patient he'd ever seen. He called in all his partners and nurses to look at my back. Then the nurse spent the next 30 minutes fanning my back and soothing it with isopropyl alcohol. Totally worth it. The allergy shots they made up for me gave me my life back!
Really bad when the nurse gets distracted and comes back to check on you and the results are no good Because she waited too long. They had done testing on my back and arms that had to be repeated several weeks later.
It was exactly the same when I did a test a few years ago. And the doctor decided to retest the unsure ones one week later.
This is only tangentially related, but it might be therapeutic to tell anyway. So some years back I got suddenly very sick, throwing up, couldn't even hold water down, we were worried about dehydration so I went to ER. I started turning blue on the way there. Turns out my kidneys had shut down. Cause or effect nobody knows for sure, but it was a scary time. 19 days in hospital, lots of dialysis, and if I hadn't gone in when I did then I might have died. My nephrologist's best guess was a penicillin allergy. He tells me I should avoid all beta-lactam antiobiotics for life, just in case. After a while I think maybe I should get tested because I'd feel better knowing what almost killed me - and if it wasn't penicillin, maybe I can find out what it was. But, it's too risky for the pin prick test. (con't)
Then I found out you can test blood! Got sent to a specialist. Her opinion: even if the penicillin that caused the problem it was unlikely to be an actual allergy. I was probably one of the "1 in X thousand adverse reaction" you see in the notes for every medication. No way to know if it would happen again, no way to test for it, keep telling doctors it's an allergy because they won't take it seriously otherwise. (Hint: They still don't take it seriously, I've had 2 pharmacists tell me that a doctor prescribed a beta lactam despite my telling them I can't have one. Thank god for pharmacists.) So anyway, I'll never know for sure. Just gotta live my life with that big unknown hanging over my head.
Load More Replies...Good grief! It would be easier to tell us what you're NOT allergic to. I predict changes in your life.
I remember too well... they ran out of space and used the back of my legs - I suffered for 20 years with terrible allergies and thankfully found relief and now I'm allergy free.
I know the feeling. This was me at my last test. Fortunately my husband was there to get me to medical help since this freaked out the allergist.
I had that done as a teen and they told me I was allergic to everything under the sun. It turns out I just have really sensitive skin and I'm not allergic to s**t.
I have bad allergies (FOUR shots of serum each session), but my reaction to the skin test was nowhere near this bad!
When I has mine, I was told to move to another state. Apparently I am allergic to everything in mine. I asked if I was allergic to my dog. The answer was no, so just give me the meds and all is good!
Same! I actually blacked out for a second on mine. That's when they had to do it one at a time on my back instead of all at once on my arm.
Welcome to the Club of Allergies. The Club sucks and barely anybody manages to quit.
Ex daughter in law had the same reactions to allergy testing. My son posted "Turns out Susan is allergic to........Florida!"
It's more likely that you're allergic to a few things, but also have dermatographism, which can cause reactions based on the touch of the testing alone.
Dermatographism doesn't cause things like this. It's called "skin writing" for a reason.
Load More Replies...Why would they use your back? The last time I had a series of tests like this, they used my forearms. I had a particularly nasty reaction to one item, but the dermatologist applied some kind of ointment that cleared it right up.
The back is a bigger surface area so the allergy prick test is a bit more clearer also it is harder to scratch the irritations on your back than it is to scratch them on your arm which can make the hives/rash worse and spread more.
Load More Replies...That was my life when I was 10. Consider that on a 10 year old's back.
They should really find a better way to do this. Believe me, as someone with sensory issues, prick tests and multiple injections are absolute torture.
They are trying but so far the skin test is the most accurate.
Load More Replies...This isn't "allergic to everything", this is allergic to the needle/scraper

Me and all my family got diagnosed with coronavirus today. Beat that.
Today at the checkout in store, I dropped full can of cherry tomatoes and they rolled everywhere. I think we found, well, most of them. I had to pay for them of course, since it was ll my fault. Also, I took day off work to sleep, but today they decided to start changing pipes around our block so it's noisy since 8 am. Great day to sleep and rest!
Buy some ear plugs, turn the t.v. on and the lights off and put a pillow over your head. Not sure if it will work for you but that's the only way I can nap during the daytime.
Load More Replies...I'm in the middle of a REALLY crappy day (got my phone stolen and I'm dealing with the usual c**p) and THIS has really helped my mood! Thank you.
The ice fall and cement ones gave me sprung ribs. The dog ones are nothing new, I've had animals for years and nothing they can do bothers me much anymore.
Met a girl at a party once. She had a Jolly Rancher or some sort of hard candy in her cheek, so when we were introduced, she said, “Hewwo. Nithe to meetchoo.” I promptly put my tongue in my cheek and said, “Hewwo. Nithe to meetchoo too!” She started crying and ran out of the room. Turns out she didn’t have any candy, but a large, malignant tumor on her jaw that caused a speech impediment. I had just made fun of a cute chick with cancer.

On Spike Milligans headstone was the legend *I Told the doctor I was sick* Mine will be "Coronavirus? wouldn't have missed it for quids"
I lost my Prius key the other day. I thought I dropped it in the bay near my house because I had slipped on a rock and fell in the water for a second with my purse on. So yesterday I get the car towed to Toyota and get my car reprogrammed for a new key for a whopping $1,060. An hour lady, some lady calls me telling me she found my keys 😭😭😭😭 unfortunately the old key won’t even work because of it being reprogrammed so now I’m out a bunch of money for literally being a dumbass.
