Baby Hears Mom For The First Time After Receiving Hearing Aids, And Her Reaction Will Melt Your Heart

Charly, a beautiful daughter of Christy Keane, was born in August 2017. Sadly, the girl came into this world profoundly deaf. Determined parents have been restfully working on a solution since then and they were finally able to get little baby Charlotte hearing aids. And the moment she hears her mother saying “Hi” for the first time, her face lights up with happiness!

Her mother Christy made sure this magical moment stays in their lives forever by recording it. Although Charly is still an infant, you can see how fast she gets really emotional and tries to hold back tears of joy in her eyes. The moment Christy says “I love you”, you can see Charly tearing up again.

“We had our miracle moment that I have been praying for when Char got her hearing aids today. We didn’t think she would hear anything so this was more incredible than I can put in to words. Her journey to implants and language development is off to an amazing start,” Christy Keane wrote on her Instagram.

That moment is very sweet and I appreciate that the parents gave their baby a temporary hearing device, rather than something more permanent, so that when she gets older she can make the decision for herself. However, the article is very negative, saying that "Sadly, the girl came into this world profoundly deaf." What is sad about that? The deaf community is amazing and should be embraced, it's nothing to be embarrassed or saddened by to have a deaf child.

It is sad that a human being is born into this world without the ability to fully experience it. This is one of those defining moments that a person should show some empathy and compassion towards others. The look in that babies face knows that she was missing something from this world. That baby knew something wasn't working right.

She doesn't know whether to smile or cry! I've never seen such complex emotions on an infant's face - she's a smart one for sure!

As someone with profound hearing loss that wears HAs it makes my heart hurt that the article says "Sadly, the girl came into this world..." Charly is a beautiful, beautiful child who's journey through life is anything but sad.

I completely understand where you are coming from, but you have to admit that you would not feel "neither here nor there" if you had a child who was hearing or sight impaired vs being "normal". Nobody wants to find out their child will face more obstacles than most children. Of course Charly can be a "beautiful, beautiful child who's journey thought life is anything but sad". They aren't mutually exclusive. I have relative with severely mentally handicapped children. She loves them to absolute pieces but she'd be lying if she said that given a magic wand she wouldn't have changed a thing when they were born. It's possible to have unconditional love yet wish things could've turned out differently.

Such a raw, honest reaction - overjoyed and almost overwhelmed by the intensity of the situation. I don't think I've ever 'felt' tears of joy in such a pure way before.

I swear, by all that's positive, that when I was privileged to see her reactions, I felt as if I was seeing her entire Being adjust to being able to hear her Mama. I'm speechless. If I'm too over the top, I apologize.

Poor thing. So sweet, but I'm sure some of her reaction was just the whole "everything is so loud" thing. The doctors told my mom one of my older sisters was deaf but it turned out she had a tumor and she could hear a little, but it was like being in a swimming pool and hearing people out of the water talk. After they removed it and she came out of anesthesia she bit everyone in the operating room, including the doctor who operated on her because they were just too loud. And they were talking normally. I think she was 4 at the time.

Yes, I can understand that. I was an adult when I received my first hearing aid. I could already hear, but not well. I loved hearing normally, but OH! The world was so much noisier! Machines all made noise! Neon lights even had noise! Battery operated clocks still drive me nuts with their tick-tock! Such a noisy world!

The baby is not tearing up with joy - it's confused. The baby doesn't know it's deaf. It didn't know what it was missing - but now it will. I hope the child has a long and satisfying life, regardless of what others believe it's missing out on. Life is what you make it!

Oh shut the f**k up you silly cow, everyone knows the baby isn't fully aware of being deaf, how can you miss sound when you haven't heard any previously?, just enjoy the vid for what it is, a cool little baby hearing for the first time, nothing to be rude or cynical about here.
