In 1992’s ‘Jurassic Park’, Jeff Goldblum’s character makes a scathing statement against the park’s owner for not considering the consequences of what they've created. He says, “Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should.”
It’s a great line that also foreshadows the disaster about to unfold. However, nothing can prepare you for what you're about to see here, and clearly, the designers of these items didn’t ask themselves this question either.
We can’t fault them for their craftsmanship and skill though, just their lack of judgment for aesthetics. It can be summed up best as the phrase ‘Awful Taste But Great Execution’ (ATBGE) based on the subreddit of the same name. And Bored Panda has collected the most garish but technically flawless things from it for all to see. When you’re ready, check out parts one, two and three as well!

The subreddit currently has 1.5M members and counting, so it’s clear that people are enjoying the designs in their own special way. It’s hard to look away from some of the stuff, not because it’s great looking or anything. It’s more like watching a car crash—horrific but enthralling at the same time.
The wreck of ideas and lack of taste makes us wonder what was going through the minds of the creators as they realized their ideas from start to finish. But we’ll never know for sure where they draw their inspiration from. The only thing that’s certain is that they have the skills to pull off their works.

This “Up Cycled” Bathtub
I don't hate it. Just needs some drainage holes in the seat and a pillow
It can take some time to learn a craft and become the master of it, but it’s rewarding in the end. In his book, The Story of Philosophy, writer and philosopher Will Durant wrote, "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit."
He probably never envisioned seeing every type of clothing imaginable rendered in denim and awkwardly renamed with the prefix from ‘jeans’. Now we have all kinds of fashion atrocities and things that should not be, with names such as jandals, joots or a jong (the last one is best left to the imagination).
But the creators here have practiced enough and, although questionable in taste, we can look at their work in a different light than what’s immediately in front of us. Either from their need to create within or even being commissioned to build something, they started from almost nothing and made something of it. And like it or not, you are seeing their works online.

Look it's Barbossa! · "For too long I've been parched of a shave and unable to quench it. Too long I've been twiddling to death and haven't died. I feel nothing. Not the wind on my beard nor the spray of the shaving foam."
Great Paint Job, Less Than Tasteful Color Palette
Honestly I like it. And Victorians traditionally have a bright ( though admittedly not neon) color palette. Looks like a fun eccentric artist would live here.

Found In A House That's For Sale Nearby
This... House?
I think “why” might be a more appropriate question...
Load More Replies...Apparently, it's the world’s largest chest of drawers. High Point, North Carolina is renowned for its furniture (?), I don't think it's habitable... https://www.visitnc.com/listing/9SZB/world-s-largest-chest-of-drawers
From images I found the socks also get painted different colours every now and again (pic attached). Here's also another interesting article... https://charmingmillers.com/2020/05/western-nc-high-point-winston-salem-and/ High2BPoin...243832.jpg
Load More Replies...I live by these.... Not this particular one, there's an even bigger and better executed one in High Point. You can see it from the highway, it's (obviously) a furniture store
" We need to to come down to the bureau immediately." "OK, let me get dressed."
This is where I live! The city of High Point, NC, not in the chest of drawers!! Lol! It's the Furniture capital of the world!
So far this is the only one that has made me pause. How do you get in? Where are the windows? Is it really a house? If not, then what?
It's in NC: "Known as the Bureau of Information in 1926, this restored, beautiful, 19th-century dresser is the “World’s Largest Chest of Drawers.” Standing 36 feet high, it was built to call attention to High Point as the Furniture Capital of the World. Two large socks hang from the drawers as a nod to the area's hosiery industry."
Too bad you didn't sell before your neighbor did this to his house. . .!
you live on the inside of a house, not on the outside, so no biggie
That's not a house. It's just a giant dresser in my city. High Point NC is the home of the international furniture market.
Oh, they've repainted the socks again. I wish they would show pictures of the sides and back. The article I read says the kitchen is in the basement and there are only two half baths, but it comes with that larger brick building and some land ...
Haha I know where this is. And it was touted as "The world's largest Bureau." There are offices inside.
It's actually an office building in High Point NC. High Point hosts an international furniture market twice a year and is known as the furniture capital of the world, hence the giant chest of drawers. The socks are a nod to the city's history in the hosiery industry. In a town over, in Thomasville, we have the world's largest dining chair.
It's an artist's homage to the town Highpoint, NC because of all the furniture the area is known for producing. It is not a house. Ironically (possibly to compete with this public sculpture/ landmark) there is a furniture manufacturer within a few miles of this that has an approximately 40'+ wood dresser built onto the side of their building.
I live 20 minutes from this thing! It's a huge deal, the High Point furniture market is so big and all the tiny towns around here were also in furniture manufacturing. Mine had the chair factory and we have a giant chair downtown :) nobody lives in "The Dresser" but it was for sale a while ago and we all thought it would be great to turn into an air bnb!
This is in High Point, NC. Town landmark built in 1926 and completely remodeled in 1996. Thirty-eight feet tall, accessorized with two giant socks hanging from one of its drawers.
No, it's not actually a house, apparently it's an installation built in a town known for furniture making.....but can see why you'd think Photoshop was involved.
Load More Replies...Burn it down ! Fire will purify the neighborhood ! But what is the HOA doing ?! Sorry, I panicked.
Reverse Mermaid Tattoo
Far be it from me to question the anatomy of a reverse mermaid, but... whoever the artist is, they do NOT understand human anatomy, because the right leg, knee bent, makes no goddamned sense. There's no way a thigh bone works like that. Does an up-vote mean I hate this and the list is about horrible shite that gets voted as horrible, or do I need to down-vote this to show my dislike for the content???

I'm not certain whether to upvote or downvote the terrible designs. But again, its a post enough bad taste, so...upvote?
I guess just upvote the interesting ones, good or bad, and don't upvote the boring ones.

Yep, a lot of ugly unused items. I finally quit. Since I don't enjoy them why bother!
