Doctors/healthcare workers use dark humour as a form of resilience not to be callous or flippant. A lot of traumatic events occur in a hospital on a daily basis. Sometimes a dark joke is the difference between breaking down emotionally or being able to compartmentalise and treat you with all our wits about us.

As a plumber replying to my customer who just hovered over me during the whole repair: Yes, you could have done this yourself. Yes, you would have saved 100s of dollars. No, I can't come down on the price because of how simple it looked to you. We are a business and I gave you the quote before I started.Show All 11 Upvotes

Karen Tries To Maliciously Comply By Paying In Bags Of Coins, But Repair Shop Owner Turns The Tables On Her

It's 3:38 AM in the middle of the night. You're driving your car through the middle of nowhere. The last person you saw passed by you 20 minutes ago. You come to a crossroads with traffic lights. No cars to the left and right for miles. The traffic light is red. You stop your car and wait for it to turn green. You're standing there, contemplating the futility of existance in the middle of the night. Nobody is there, nobody would care if you just drove on. At some point during those moments you start to question your own sanity and ability for self-determination. Still you wait for the green light, because this is Germany and in Germany you follow the rules.

Stupid interview games. The d**kheads put me at a low table with a low chair, placed water in a carafe with an empty glass - all just out of reach so that I'd have to stand and reach for it, and then interviewed me as a panel of six employees sitting at a tall table with tall chairs. The questions were all more about my character then my skills. The whole thing was so obviously staged to make me feel uncomfortable. An interview is a conversation, not an interrogation. Treat it like an interrogation, and I'm f*****g out. It's a clear sign of a toxic workplace - I've yet to see an exception to this rule.Show All 21 Upvotes
