You lost me at "meet the new boss". The point of destroying patriarchy is to make thing equal first. The point of feminism is equality, which means women are as much as human as men. And humans behave like humans, they have flaws. Patriarchy established a model in which women are "pure" - caring, giving, modest, virgin, patient, accepting, enduring, forgiving etc. Meanwhile "boys will boys" - aggressive, angry, short tempered, competitive, macho, cocky, slackers, arrogant, horny, drinkers etc. The point is not for women to rule but to be accepted - women can drink, curse, get angry, be horny etc. Just like humans. Becoming better should be a goal of every person, but lets admit first we are all humans and we all have somewhat same strengths and flaws.

I think she is making the whole thing a big deal, and being weird about it, and that's how some people have reacted to it ; because like someone said in their comment, "she is not owning it". I think that she is struggling to "own it" , because she hasn't even admitted / dealt with the fact that "she had a problem", at all. I even detect a bit of deflection on her part; she feels ostracized, and judged, and it's all about how "they" are dealing with her "no drinking", and it's a distraction for her, because I bet she has not dealt with the REASON she started drinking, and got to where she didn't want to stop. I really feel for her, but she is going to struggle until she deals with the underlying reasons/issues that contributed to her "problem." I think that she is embarrassed, and ashamed, and the word "alcoholic " is a dirty word that does not apply to her-but it's not a dirty word. This strikes all kinds of people, and it knows no prejudices..I wish she would get some help...

I think it is the same for both genders, where some confuse admiration and attraction (or just admire someone for looks over personality/talents). But in terms of just admiration, having deep respect for someone's talents, ability, etc... I think that is definitely something that we're more often taught to admire men for, while we're taught to admire women (even if we're women) for just looks. Some of the older Disney Princesses are a good example of that, as they often did not have much personality at all and we just liked them for their beauty and ability to attract a prince by nothing but looking beautiful. >.< I remember liking Beauty and the Beast and Mulan particularly because of their giving the heroines actual personalities and making them capable characters who don't just exist for pure beauty (despite Belle being called as Beauty lol). I feel like in general there are more better role models now for young girls to look up to, compared to when I was younger. Hopefully someday it will really be to the point where sexism could just be eliminated for good, and people can freely express themselves without fear of being not girly or manly enough. I remember as a kid, my mom would tease me about liking any attractive men that appeared on TV, so I learned to blindly deny liking any of those boy bands to stop her teasing me, similarly to how many boys passed them off for fear of being teased as gay. Even though now as an adult looking back, I do actually admire their talent and skill aside from their looks.
