Did you want the place clean when you walked into it, or would you have been happy with someone else’s fingerprints on every surface, their dirty footprints in the tub, and their petrified toothpaste in the sink? Would you have been content to stay someplace that’s still crawling from previous renters’ cooties? No, you wouldn’t. Unethical owners aside, the basics that are required when renting someone else’s property are there for a reason. Laundry and dishwashers are time consuming machines. Taking out someone else’s stinking trash when there’s a kitchen and bathroom(s) involved—-after already doing a hygienic clean involving cleaning the toilet(s), the tub(s), the sinks, the counters, dusting, both mopping and vacuuming all the floors and upholstery, making up the beds, and putting out clean towels—-is just asking too much of a cleaner who is making FAR less than that cleaning fee, as the lion’s share goes to the cleaning company they work for. Quit being entitled, and quit thinking you’re the center of the universe. Start thinking about how your actions trickle down to others—-including way underpaid cleaners.

And after! In 1959 my parents moved us to a farm, & my mom got 60 laying hens so she could sell eggs for household money. I was 7-1/2 years old & helped with feeding/watering/gathering eggs. Farm kids = free labor. I know for a fact that my good health at 70 years of age is entirely due to growing up & working on a farm!

I'm in the US and for the most part english cucumbers are sold by the piece, slicing cucumberS (6-9 inches) are usually sold by the piece and kirby cucumbers (pickling cucs) are usually sold by the pound where I'm from. BUT, not every market does it the same way even between the different grocery stores, farmers markets, and produce stands that I have shopped in - let alone in different states. End of harvest at the farm? Bumper crop? They might be selling by the bag to get rid of the rest just so they can go home... especially if they are selling to people who are canning pickles.

My aunt wanted to raise a few pigs and wanted to make sure my cousin didn't regard them as pets, as they would go to the butcher come fall...well my cousin asked to name them....she realized there wouldn't be a problem when she heard him calling for "Bacon", "Ham", and "Sausage". The next year he named the pigs McDonalds, Wendys, and Burger King.

PEOPLE - when will you realize guns don't kill people, people do. Everybody is screaming about the NRA and gun lobbyists...it's messed up and there should be better regulations & they make it easier for people to execute a mass shooting, but the Boston Marathon and the Oklahoma City bombing have proven, if people want to kill, they don't need a gun. A common household pressure cooker and a box of nails, drive into a crowd, h*ll - ram two planes into the World Trade Towers. People who want to hurt other people will find a way to do it. Poison, gas, explosives, something as benign as CO2 - a hose venting into a sealed room. Why do people think this is an acceptable way to vent their frustration, hate, anger with the world - killing innocent lives?? Is it that we have become desensitized as a result of Hollywood or video games? Is there too much war for too many stupid reasons, so people think it's OK to kill? That's what we have to fix.

not enough salt and ice to freeze it as fast as it needed to. Instead when you stir heavy cream as below - you make butter - unless it freezes in your ice cream freezer. Some of the mini's also had a cream holder that was too big to freeze correctly, and I had one that you put in the freezer - it only worked if your freezer was 0 degrees, and mine only got as low as 12 degrees, so it never made ice cream right until I moved to the Adirondacks and then could leave it on the porch in winter and get it low enough to freeze!

34DD?? average? I find the 34 part hard to believe considering how heavy many Americans are now. Back when I was a teen it was hard to find bras that were a DD as I would guess the average was a 34B/C, and everybody and their sister was selling an aerobics exercise video or were on TV discussing their eating disorder - either anorexia or bulimia. Now it's much more common to be on the pill (which the hormones can increase bra size), cosmetic surgery has become much more prevalent, I've worked in a hospital where it 16 year olds get breast enlargements for their Sweet 16, and in general Americans are much heavier than 40 years ago, so I'm seeing many more larger cup sizes in the stores rather than just in specialty shops vs. in the past, but I would still say the only place the average size is 34DD is in a Victoria Secrets store - based entirely on their clientele - not the mass population.

This is assuming that you had a new car. Leases did not exist in the 70's and 80's and people didn't throw away everything back then. You used it until it broke and you didn't get a new car every 2-3 years when your lease is up. Cars were also built like tanks and mechanics and body shops didn't charge an arm and a leg resulting in cars that didn't get totaled after every little accident. ...eventually they would rust out because they were made of steel, not fiberglass. If you were totaled you had been in a REALLY serious accident. People in the 1970's were much more likely to still have a car from the 1960's.
