He self published(!) One book once. And since then? That seems to have been years ago too. He couldn't even care for the child for 15 h/WEEK. When he never sold a book to a publisher, when he never wrote another book and when other people write AND have children. He was offered to give up some fun money for a nanny instead, but he didn't want that either. He doesn't want to take care of his own child, doesn't want to take a cut on vacation money, he just wants to be called an author, even though he can't sell anything and doesn't even publish anything more. Zero sacrifice for the own family and child. And feels emasculated when his breadwinning, fully working, wife can't also be the main caregiver for the baby and praise him for a single, self published, book he wrote once. Cool.

Also, a general comment based on experience: Seeing just a legal mediator to figure out a divorce sounds like a nice idea, but I don't recommend just doing that. A friend of mine did, and she was so anxious to compromise, that she agreed to some things that hurt her in the end. In my divorce, my ex and I each had a lawyer, and together the four of us went to a mediator. This way, I always had someone knowledgeable looking out for my interests as we negotiated. This may or may not apply to the OP's situation, but if you're getting a divorce, I highly recommend it. It wasn't immediately clear to me that this was even an option - definitely the way to go!

Years ago, I was in Peter's situation. A friend would occasionally buy an extra sandwich, but then say he wasn't that hungry, and offer it to me. He was close enough to guess something was wrong at my house because I never had anyone over, but didn't know exactly what was going on. I had previously been in a church-run "children's home" that was worse than going hungry living with my mentally ill single parent. If someone had called CPS, I'd have worried about being sent back to institutional care and may have run away to live on the street. Situations can be complicated and reporting to CPS etc. can have unintended consequences (though I hope things are better now than when I was younger).

These things never appear in a vaccuum and I am pretty sure it's not just about her dad. He admits to binge watching for more than one evening. That doesn't equal him spending time on the house or in her company for extended periods of Time, I could be wrong but I thinking resentment on her part as to how he spends his time and how that makes her feel is a big elephant in the room he is ignoring.

I told them I wasn't their dad (the deadbeat was still in the picture), but I treated them as I would any child I was responsible for raising - good times and bad. Something like a ghost pepper would not be a felony, it wouldn't even be wrong, really. Those rules and "laws"(people call it that a lot, but it's not actually, lol) are related to putting things like medicine (laxatives, for example) which can actually have a serious effect. They also, more often than not, relate to tampering with other people's food, or food provided for you(and other people), not your own food that you brought with you. Ghost peppers, and most other foods, unless it is a known allergen for the "intended recipient", don't and wouldn't fall under that umbrella. People just assume it does because...vague rules.

Abortion is a natural process (spontaneous abortion, medical term) or induced for reason (induced abortion, due to fill-in-someone's-reason). Just Leave Women's Bodies To The Women (and their doctors).

The question of "does she want to be a mother or not" is an extremely small question in the grand scheme of things. A lot of times, women who do get abortions do want to be mother's. It should be will this baby kill her, was this baby conceived by force, does the mother/father have genetic markers that could cause harm to the baby, is the mother/father financially/mentally stable to provide for a child? I had to have an abortion with my first pregnancy, and I very much wanted to be a mother at that time. That is the issue with prolife, it is all black and white with that group and it is not.
