Can be used to cut glass too...that's how it was done before glass cutters were used. Get the iron's head very hot in the fire, add a tiny drop of moisture (traditionally spit) to the edge of the glass where you want to cut, then, starting at the wet edge, draw the tip of the soldering iron along the cut line. Then, tap tap tap, & voilá! Gives a good clean cut, too.

We used to collect some every year from local ponds and 'raise' them in a barrel of water until they hopped away. Used to love watching the process of them changing from eggs to tadpoles to froglets. Would still enjoy that, tbh!

I have them too. First in plastic, later on in silver. Silversplints. It gives the joint stability. My collageen is defect and makes my fingers bend in positions that hurt. I've got Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. A syndrome that slowely sucks all life out of you due to pain, wqknrs, utterly fatigue. From an active person turned into a housemouse. The question appears often along patiënts about quality of life. Loads are struggling and suïcide and euthanasia can lingering in our minds.

You would be wrong, this approach has landed children in the hospital, even higher chance when the kid is autistic or has sensory processing issues. Kids will absolutely starve themselves as an alternative.

Most of these kids probably have sensory processing disorder. I have it, and I was labelled as a fussy eater until I was forced to eat foods like coleslaw, cheese pasta, and fish paste, and I vomited because of the disgusting taste and the disgusting texture.

It's ok if you have an average run of the mill kid but if you have a sensitive or special needs kid then starving them will make their life hell which is not ideal.

And in case anyone is interested the backup food is either a little tin of rice, or a banana, or a slice of bread and butter. Nice, bland food. Bit boring so it isn't a treat.

Forcing kids to eat doesn't teach kids about eating. It teaches them they have no right to consent and that an adult has the right to force/over ride their feelings. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying give in to every whim and whimper, but I am saying be kind to your kid. Their little brains work differently to adults. Don't force food into them, and let them say no. We have back up safe food if dinner isn't going down well. Kiddo knows he can ask for it, and you know what? Generally he doesn't need to. He will try his food, and tell us if he doesn't like it. It's frustrating some days, but at least he tries (he is 3).
