I’m sorry but this is the stupidest bulls*it I’ve read in a while! It’s not like SpongeBob is turning kids into sexual delinquents. Are we honestly going back to Victorian times here? You know where even the legs of the furniture needed to be covered so people wouldn’t get dirty thoughts? This is truly ridiculous! Educate kids properly about sexuality so they don’t go online to “educate” themselves. Teach them what healthy, realistic sexuality is and what is not instead of trying to blame freaking Spongebob for corrupting kids in that department.

@GodIsHealingSomeone, I told myself that same lie for most of my life, because I didn't want to admit to myself that my entire foundation and identity was wrong. But, I see no convincing evidence for that belief, other than the bible itself says so. The Epic of Gilgamesh, which predates the bible BTW, has a completely different mythology. Why is it any less credible than the bible?

And yet, I also couldn't reconcile scripture, especially the writings of Paul, with this idea of acceptance. I know there are Christians that say you can (i.e. some scriptures are referencing temple prostitutes and not speaking more generally), but the evidence for that never seemed that strong to me. I'd had a lot of doubts and a lot of questions for most of my life, even when I identified as a Christian. Honestly, this issue was the last straw for me, the one that metaphorically broke the camel's back and started my complete loss of faith. When you're continually having to jump through mental hoops to explain away your doubts in something, maybe it's time to just admit you were wrong about the whole thing. 2/2

Please understand I say all of this with respect and 0 ire at all. I also come from a Christian background, so no judgement at all in that regard. I struggled with these issues myself, and it was very painful. My question would be, if you can't follow the bible 100% because it was written by fallible dudes 1000s of years ago, how do you know which parts you *can* trust? Why trust it at all? I wish I could believe what you're saying, that you can believe the bible and also be okay with the full spectrum of gender and sexual identities. This is why so many people want to believe these things are choices instead of how people were born, or that it's a sickness that can somehow be prayed away or fixed with therapy. But if you actually listen to people and not just write them off, it's obvious that's not true. We are what we are by nature, and to try to force something else is very harmful. I can't imagine a world where discriminating against people for these things is okay. 1/2

Hey I'm kinda similar to that. When I'm anxious (worst in 1 on 1 conversations with people who aren't comfort people), I tend to dissociate and to me that's worse than seeming rude by doing stuff with my phone, because at least then I can absorb at least some of it. I've recently made a move into using stim toys which are useful but not distracting enough a lot of the time to stop the disassociating. If that makes sense

Someone downvoted you and I'm not sure why. I can kind of understand where you're coming from. I used to know a man that, when walking into a new/different situation, would take out his phone. He always put the phone to his ear and pretend he was taking a call. For him he was throwing out a message to everyone not to talk to him. In reality he was being eaten up inside with anxiety.

For me I'll do it in a conversation because I get extremely anxious, I'll just mess around with games on my phone so I can focus on what the person I'm talking to is saying without stressing out. (I have autism and severe general and social anxiety)
