Agree with most of your statement, however the choice to breastfeed is, indeed, a choice. While it is best for both mom and baby, it is not always possible, or even advisable. Everyone's circumstances are different, regardless of quality of professional help available. A less stressed mom and a fed baby are better, regardless of how it is done. I do think every mom should try at least a couple of times, just to be sure, but never be pressured into it.

I breastfed my daughter for two months and stopped trying because she was not getting enough from me. I tried, but gave up and then she was fine. Breastfeeding is not perfect for everyone and no guilt should be attached for going to formula.

If you have an active infection deep enough, yes. Two years ago I found out a dentist had drilled (years prior) directly into the bone of my jaw to put a filling down the side of my root (spoiler alert, that is malpractice.) when I had a seizure, the tooth broke from my the force of clenching my jaw.. I had to take antibiotics for a full month BEFORE my extraction was done, because pulling deep rooted tooth with an active infection can lead to septicemia. I had a bone graft and my soft palate was removed to rebuild the floor of my sinus cavity, which the infection had eroded away without abscessing. It took 11 months to heal, I was on antibiotics half of that period. Everything that could go wrong, did. However, even a simple extraction or root canal can require antibiotics to prevent the emptied socket from turning into an infection far too close for comfort to your brain.

I had made the decision to try to breastfeed in the hospital out of pressure from the staff. I couldn't produce enough and decided to supplement with formula. After 3 weeks I completely dried up. They were some of the most stressful weeks of my life and I have no respect for the women who shame for formula feeding.

Had a severely infected wisdom tooth and had to take antibiotics before they pulled it out. Was stupid and did not take the full treatment (because I thought it was only a precaution). What followed was one of the most painful experiences of my life. Apparently anesthesia does not work very well when there is an infection still ongoing. The doctor had to keep giving me shots just so I could keep going. Not only was it still painful but I also could barely open my mouth for a few weeks due to the overuse of anesthetic. Point is, if the dentist tells you to take antibiotics before please listen
