There's probably some violation of the law in that as well. since they are charging a tenant electricity, for keeping the hallway lights and security system on. that is not the tenant's responsibility. Any breakers for those should be separate from the breakers in the apartments, where they will not be charged to individual units.

I teach some basic finance and I have so many students who say they will never get a credit card, probably because their parents had bad experience, but it makes me sad because that will also make it really hard for them to ever travel. I teach them how to avoid the fees and interest and explain that I actually come out ahead because I never pay interest but get money back from points.

Well not true everywhere. I used to be housekeeper for a few months on a well rated hotel and we cleaned up the toilets several times a day and it was always a mess just because ppl are 🐷.

But hey, I cashed that check and spent my half on a new gaming laptop, so I'd say I got the last laugh. Theres a reason you dont lift heavy weights except on the ground floor, and that you NEVER just drop your weights if you arent on specially reinforced ground. If you can't put your weights down gently, you're lifting too heavy.

Tho i did have an experience where the people in the room below 'lit a candle' and our room had smoke smell and soot issues (blew my nose and it came out BLACK) that we put up with til the next morning but were kinda concerned about

That is not enforceable. I'm a landlord. Bottomline is, after the tenancy is signed and all money has exchanged hands, the house is basically the tenant's domain. As long as no violation to safe occupancy laws (like stuffing 10 people in a small apartment), the landlord has no say who stays the night.

Again, this speaks to type of hotel and quality. Our HK dept catalogues all finds and it goes to guest services and is mailed to the guest once we’ve contacted them. It doesn’t matter if it’s an earbud or tennis bracelet. Recently had a guest who left a metal golf tee. It initially looked like it may be unworthy to claim, but it was actually a vintage Tiffany’s trinket worth more than most items left behind. You just never know. Best to return if possible v

This depends on the quality of the property/brand. We wash every piece of bedding and sanitize pillows between quests. We’re an independent autograph property, so may have better standards than most. We send no-res or overflow guests to one of three nearby properties and the cheaper of them has same standards. An aside: a lot of hotels have done away with duvets and now use throws & the like. We do all white sheets with a thin duvet & white protector/cover with no real cover and a thin blanket folded at bottom (it’s never cold) and it all gets washed.

Some of these stories arent really in the same league: heaps of people get mistaken for 15 when they're 18-20, or 20 when they're 25. Now the ones where they're mistaken for 10+ years younger are :O Of course, noone should be rude about it >< also to the cop story why would anyone carry proof that their kid is theirs? Thats not a legal requirement. And in most countries there's not even a requirement to carry ID (except for driving or buying age-restricted items ofc)

I don't respect the Amish community. The rate of sexual abuse and incest is sky high, but they don't want outside policing and the abused girls are forced to forgive their abusers or they will be shunned, meaning there is zero reason for the abuse to stop.

Amish are, to me, proof that heavy conflict doesn't come from different believes, most of the time it's easy to take each other into consideration if there is room for each other. Your point shows exactly where things will start to get iffy. It the larger society has ideas about what constitutes as animal abuse (and develops in that), that can start to itch. I don't agree on your observation on the buggies "tearing" up the asphalt. Asphalt that tears under the stress of a buggy and or horse shoe, has probably withstood many, many cars before that. I don't feel like doing the math, but the forces from speeding up and slowing down from a car might be a little more equal on normal tires, it's still what stresses the road mostly. Take in account how the community has little carbon footprint because of how they live, and they get a pass in my book.
