Thank you for expressing it this way... before I understood exactly what the issue was, I was a ‘not all men’ man, because I certainly am not like that, and didn’t like being lumped into the category of ‘predatory male’, but it was never explained to me that women do, in fact know that it’s not all men, but they just don’t know *which* men. I think this is the best way to explain it to men, especially those who know they are a good person, because I never understood how someone could see me as a threat. But it’s not about that, it’s about the fact that you just don’t know if the man passing you on the street, or who’s walking behind you, is dangerous or not. I don’t want to sound like a d**k, but I feel that if it was explained this way instead of *men* being tarred with the same brush, it might be more useful in conveying the actual sentiment of the statement.

shared custody is a bitch. But the daughter is making a distinction that doesn't exist in the father's mind. It doesn't matter whose sperm got her mom pregnant. It matters whose there. and to be perfectly blunt, the daughter could have potentially had two fathers and two mothers. There's only so much time he could have spent, on account of shared custody, of course the step-sisters going to be getting more time with him and it would be totally inappropriate to give all his time while the daughter was there, to the daughter. it's not the step daughter's fault the daughter has (had) shared custodial arrangements.

The actual AHs here are both daughters and the Dad. Had any of them made more of an effort to be more amicable to each other, then the step daughter and biological daughter might have been close enough to be able to work out wedding dates in which they both could enjoy the company of their father/step-father at their weddings. It's too bad that both of them couldn't have gotten along enough to avoid putting the Dad in the middle of a petty rivalry. There is also the possibility that the viewpoints of both girls may be a reflection of the wives. If ex doesn't like new wife, chances are there's some mud that being flung around behind the scenes that's poisoning these girls from getting along.

Whether it was a test, deliberate or whatever, the dad could easily have left before 10pm. The actual wedding is the important part. Yeh, you want to be there for the meals, the party, the whole day but if you HAVE to be somewhere else, you gotta do that. I went to a wedding one day (which had a stupid breakfast the next day and had to drive 4 hours back home to go to another wedding reception - worked it out that as long as we left by 12, we had 6-7 hours before the reception started (and it was so informal people drifted in and out anyway). So Dad is the AH for not planning ahead - not a malicious AH but given the history, I'd had left plenty of time to avoid this situation

There is too much information missing to make a fair judgement. Who scheduled their wedding first? Being the first to send save-the-date doesn't necessarily mean SD booked/planned her wedding first. OP mentions his daughter calling him, accusing SD of knowing beforehand that the daughter's wedding was planned for that weekend and deliberately setting her (SD's) wedding the day before (yup, that does happen). If the daughter is lying, then dad did the best he could, though he could have left the first wedding earlier, not at 10pm. If she's telling the truth, then the dad is an asshole and he's definitely playing favourites.

The homeless guys that hung out in the doorways of the shops in Seattle at night were mainly military vets that were suffering severe depression and PTSD. They were a great bunch of guys that protected people from gangs and drug dealers in downtown. I was very grateful they were there that night. For the past year I've been helping a homeless guy that looks out for the other people living on the street. He pools his money and makes sure everyone eats and everyone has a safe place to sleep. I just wish there was more I could do for them.
