The rock n play was not a bassinet, but a chair like sleeper. The danger was in people not securing the baby and use it as intended. Which happened because it looked a little peculiar and maybe people thought it was safe to use as a bassinet. Babies would turn themselves over and suffocate. Why you would leave a tiny newborn alone in any contraption is beyond me. I had two fuzzy babies and those little musical swings would totally calm them down, but never ever did I leave them in there alone. And no I'm not judging, just stating I have a hard time imagining how it happens. A friend having a problem with returning an item after this became known is indeed someone to say goodbye too.

Also, though, I don't think I'd feel the need to tell any of my friends that their gift almost killed my kid and was recalled. I mean, unless they ask specifically, I can't imagine that topic ever coming up. Who checks on the status of their gift to an infant? Just go to the store to replace the recall. 😉 when I was in high school working my first job in retail my boss would send me to the beach to get him an ice cream from a particular shop... He knew full well that there was no way to get the ice cream to him without it being completely melted.
