People with LI can still enjoy small portions of cream and cheese, depending on the severity of their intolerance. The more cheese is aged, the more the lactose is broken down. So, cheese such as parmesan, feta, cheddars, swiss, and includes cottage cheese, can be just fine for someone with an intolerance. If low lactose or lactose free dairy is still giving someone problems then it's likely a dairy allergy. I have lactose intolerance and so does my daughter. Milk and milk based ice creams give us the most problems, and yogurt. I may not be a dietician but I do my research.

I'm lactose intolerant, myself, and I can still eat cheese, especially aged cheese where the milk sugars have broken down. Lactose intolerance and dairy allergies are not the same. Lactose intolerance has to do with the digestive system. Dairy allergies has to do with the immune system. The symptomatic traits may share commonalities, but that doesn't mean it's the same thing. I didn't say anything about vegans liking vegan cheese, or having any issues with that. I don't think I'm the person you're intending to respond to on that note.

Nope. People with lactose intolerance are usually good with creams, cheese and yogurts. It has to do with the processing. Dairy allergies is likely what you're thinking of.

I'm thinking more along the lines of the post's comparison of being asked why not have kids is like asking why not get a dog because of the responsibility and commitment involved. Not necessarily emotional attachment and bonding. I was reminded of how parents give kids a plant or something less high maintenance for practice or prove they can take on the responsibility and advance from there. However, if someone knows they cannot take care of plants very well, or a pet, and thus a reason they make of their own not to get them because they care enough about plants or animals to not want to kill them, then it's good judgement, and reflective on how they would feel about not wanting kids, either. I hope that makes sense.

But when you're kids do love you it's earned, not an automatic expectation. Like, mine is grown up and I don't have to coax her or guilt her into hugs, kisses and I love yous. That is all earned from giving her support, love, respect and a will to love and live. First, start by getting a plant. Treat that plant like it's your pet. If you can maintain and grow the plant without it dying for a year, try getting a small, low maintenance pet. Go from there. If at any point it's overwhelming, you just don't want to care for it anymore, by all means find someone else to care for the pet and stay childless. (What I'm referring to is people who are undecided or think "why not" have a kid. Start with something that has low responsibility and see how well you do. It's the same thing when parents refuse to get their kid a dog they've been begging for, and give them something easier to care for to see if they can step up to the plate. If you kill plants from neglect or refusing to learn how to properly care for them then, no, don't have kids.)

Fostering kids is not for the faint of heart or for someone who wants kids for the sake of wanting to be a parent. These are troubled kids, who may have behavioural and health conditions that make it hard to handle them, such as Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, sociopathy. My mom thought about fostering but decided not to because it wouldn't have been safe for me. Usually the kids get bounced around and it's not up to you whether they stay with you or not, unless you want to adopt a child. That is a process in itself. Not everyone who wants to adopt is able to be accepted to adopt. I'm not trying to dissuade anyone from providing a home to children who need one. Some people just don't understand fully what they're getting into and learn the hard way.

I had a Disney vision of parenthood, where everything would be smooth sailing, lots of singing lullabies, laying her down in a pretty, frilly cradle, and going on tranquil, beautiful walks pushing her in her stroller, taking her to the zoo and picnics at the park. I thought I was going to be super involved with the school, and be this trusted and respected parent. I did take her for lots of walks, unfortunately my city is full of jerks. I got yelled at my cabbie because I struggled to get the car seat out when she was 2 weeks old, and my arms still felt like spaghetti. I thought he was going to kick me out and just drive away with my baby. My mom was on my back about everything. Other young parents had this irrational vendetta against me just for, idk existing. When she was older, before I started working I was volunteering on field trips, being involved with the school. You think adults under 30 should be chaperoned by other adults? What?! The op is referring to just normal dating and getting into relationships, lack of independence and trust issues with parents. I don't think that parents are just "dumping their kid at the beach" without any rules and restrictions. I bet many of the kids snuck off to the beach. Or perhaps they're old enough to just go to the beach without any consent because they're free adults. The ones they do stupid things have consequences they learn very quickly. I don't understand punishing kids over grades. It just pushes kids to cheat and pay more attention to the grades and not the material they're learning. If kids are struggling then there's likely other causes and not their other activities.

My mom said she was "shocked" there was a city and the urban area close to the mountains looks like Vancouver to her. She's not the most easily impressed and not an open-minded traveller. She didn't have much good things to say about her trip. I asked her, "What did you expect in this modern era? Grass huts and hula girls everywhere?" "...yeah." XD. Lots of big stores are all over the world now, though. I think the culture aspects, no matter where you are, are right under your nose. It's the different languages, slang, plants and animals, the geography, climate. Best thing to do is research recipes of local dishes and try to make them yourself. Exploring a grocery store in another country is interesting. You never know what you might find you don't see at your own grocery store.

Funny story. My now ex MIL had this cactus for years and was certain it was dying. It wasn't growing and turning brown. She gave it us. Within a matter of months the cactus started to lose the browning and began growing a bud that turned into another cactus. She couldn't understand why it was thriving at our place and not hers. I think we watered it more frequently, like every couple weeks. Whereas she watered it every year.

The end of the survey is also the time survey interviews can have more of liberties of discussing the topic at hand. We just have to remain as neutral and unbiased as possible before and during the whole interview. Nothing you say will make us challenge your opinions. I heard it all. You won't shock us. You could say the most prejudice, racist, discriminatory things and we won't tell you if we think your right or wrong. All we're paid to do is take calls, read the scripted surveys and record your answers. Now, what we're thinking in our heads is another story.

Yes, the interviewer will type down everything you said, but after the survey is done and the interviewer moves onto the next call coming in, any information entered is immediately encoded in the secure server and meshed together with everyone else's answers. The detailed answers are separated and sent to coders that have lists relating to the questions, and decide where the key points of your detailed explanations should fit into those point-formed lists. (I hope that makes sense.). And, also, giving extra information, trying to justify your reasons for your ratings, just ask if there is an open end question or wait until the end of the survey. Sure, we have to politely end the call and move on to the next to keep our dial rates up, but we can add more feedback. We call it "end-of-survey comments" & we do pass them along.
