The cartoon Jafar's look was based on another villain named Jafar in an 1940 Hollywood movie called The Thief of Baghdad (basically Aladdin 1.0). That version of Jafar was played by a German actor and badass mofo named Conrad Veidt. Look him up. He was pretty amazing for his time. He also played the German officer who keeps looking for resistance fighters at Rick's Cafe in Casablanca. The Joker's face is based off of another part he played in a 1932 picture called The Man Who Laughs, and goths today owe their look to his from the silent movie The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. Veidt's influence on the people who create pop culture today is pretty deep.
