That's awesome! Wow...I'm definitely going to check that link out. ⭐ This lesson was one I was lucky enough to learn while in the military. I was a female in very high tech male-dominated field which required 2 years of military school where the academic attrition rate alone was over 40%. I was this goofy, little chick who guys assumed was dumb just bc I was blonde & friendly. So I graduated first in my class, and had a number of other significant accomplishments during my time in service--all because I looked around my first school's class & thought, "If these morons can understand this stuff, so can I." 😆. Then I went on to teach myself to build a house (incl. all the skills that involves), got a doctorate, & am now the COO of a large law firm--all because some sexist arschlochs misjudged me to their own detriment. 😆. It's amazing what being underestimated can do to motivate us, isn't it?

I never thought about that. That's crazy. I just always noticed that I would think things like, "Wow, her hair is great!" or "He's got such cool eyes..."but would always be reticent about saying it to the person I thought it about. Then one day, I was behind a woman in drive -thru who was berating the kid who gave her her order (apparently there weren't enough fries bag?) and, even though there was a 95% chance he didn't prepare her order, she was calling him dumb, lazy, a*****e, mf, racist stuff, etc. That's when it occurred to me: she had zero hesitancy toward her verbal excoriation of that poor kid. She just let it loose like a geyser. Like a lot of people do. Meanwhile I'm thinking nice things about people and never saying them outloud. And, really, it should always be the other way around. 30 years later, that sticks with me like it happened yesterday.

There's this crazy thing some spouses (almost ALWAYS narcissists) do where they act like the BEST partners in the world.... until they get a marriage certificate (which they view as property deeds). Then they flip 180° practically overnight. I'm a PsyD who specialized in predatory behaviorism after my first husband (who I married before getting my doctorate) did EXACTLY this. He was loving, doting, considerate, respectful, and practically perfect-- UNTIL we got married. Then, essentially overnight, he became a complete sadist. One night he was drunk and said, "I've hated you so much for waiting so long to marry me. I couldn't stand having to act so f*****g nice all the time!" So...It's one of those things where even a good radar for fakery (which I've had my entire life) can't always stand up against a truly diabolical, master-manipulator/narcissist.

EXACTLY! The one I have folds flat, works on standard 115v ac, and even the belts for it last a long time. I literally built myself under-cabinet kickplate drawers throughout my kitchen just so I'd have a place to put all my kitchen gadgets, and one drawer is devoted to my sharpener. I bought one for my son 7 years ago right after he graduated high school and he acted like I bought him a new car or something. He loves that thing more than he even loves me, I think. 😆

I'm a PsyD behavioral specialist, and these profile comments are very sus--posting strangely defensive and aggressive comments to ANYONE who questions this chick's parenting "knowledge". So lame. People who have raised children know there is a lot of questionable content in this chick's "advice". And by the way, you get to call yourself a parenting specialist until you have ALREADY RAISED well-adjusted children. Ignorance is bliss. Only a fool thinks s/he is an expert in something s/he is in the early stages of doing for the first time and hasn't even come CLOSE to FINISHING yet.

As a PsyD, I've treated many children and adults with behavioral problems whose parents were inconsistent, unstructured, failed to lay down boundaries, and/or introduce consequences into the child-rearing equation. You can raise kids with structure and not have them become phobic, anxious adults. It's all about being balanced, pragmatic, loving, and conscientious--NOT about being a Chillax parent...because permissive parenting RARELY works and often causes more anxiety in children than gentle/positive authoritative parenting, which is the gold standard parenting style for general child-rearing.

No, actually, she isn't. As a PsyD who not only raised 3 very productive kids, but has also treated many children with behavioral issues, I can 100% assure you that the vast majority of what she is advocating is counterproductive. Children need SOME structure, boundaries, & consistency. It helps them feel safe, bc they understand what's expected of them, & they know that going outside boundaries have consequences. That's important for when they're adults. There are a hundred other things I could say about how this kind of w***y-nilly parenting can be consequential, but let me instead just say: a PhD in soft sciences is no guarantee that someone knows how to raise a kid--so you certainly shouldn't assume they all DO just because they SAY they have a doctorate.

Yeah, I was with her on #1, but she just got more ridiculous as it went along. I'm a PsyD, and I have worked with PhDs & non-PhDs alike who thought they were a lot smarter about child rearing than they really were. I disagree with most of her "methods"--and I have three kids who graduated with 4.0 to 4.2+ GPAs (two were valedictorians), went to top-rated 1st-tier unis, & are really kind, productive, incredibly polite, respectful, and reliable adults. And it's not bc I'm some kind of genius mom (I was a single parent for 13 yrs), but because I thought about what life skills my abusive/ neglectful parents DIDN'T teach me that I needed, & I made sure I taught them to MY kids. Children NEED structure and consistency to feel safe. They need consistent parenting, boundaries, and lots of love and support. The "parenting" style demonstrated here OFTEN leads to highly maladaptive behavior later on. I suspect she won't be so cocky about her "parenting" in 10 or 12 years.

I'm sorry. This is so low class. YOU DON'T INVITE A TON OF PEOPLE TO YOUR WEDDING THEN ASK THEM TO PAY FOR SHÏT. That is some seriously BASIC BS. If you can't afford to pay $75 a person for 100 guests, have TWENTY & find cheaper food to serve. Our wedding 18 years ago consisted of a catered buffet & full fancy cocktail bar for 50 people (including our governor, doctors, attorneys, and a couple of CEOS--which I only mention because those types of people usually expect a very high-brow wedding experience), and every one of them said it was the funnest wedding they'd ever been to. The entire wedding, including rooms for out of town guests, my wedding dress, his & my kids' tuxes & dresses, the reception hall, catering, decorations, & open bar, cost less than $7,000. Because what's the point of spending $50,000-$100,000 on something that is super fancy & way over the top, when marriages have a 50% chance of survival, & the number one strain on marriages is financial instability?

As someone who has been into photography and photo restoration for 35 years, I have to say that the person who posted these pictures intentionally increased the photo on the right's levels, decreased its gamma, and probably ran a burn filter on it---all to make the dark areas look darker. It was probably bc she realized there wasn't enough difference between the two pictures without doing that. Pretty ridiculous when the whole comparison is supposedly to demonstrate the pitfalls of filtering--but she had to filter the "unfiltered" picture just to make her point. 😒

Generally speaking, you usually can't claim emotional distress in a non-injury suit in Small Claims court--that's why it's SMALL CLAIMS. It's about financial loss, not emotional damages. And if you try to claim as such, many judges won't consider it.

Not true. I run a law firm. Although small claims is generally kept to below $5,000 to stay in General District SC court, rarely do any plaintiffs retain counsel. You usually self-litigate, so you only pay the (typically small) filing fee. The Clerk usually sends the Warrant in Debt/Small Claims Suit to the defendant for a nominal fee, but you can also hand deliver or send certified mail. I'm not aware of any jurisdiction where small claims requires process service. And many states allow suits up to either $25,000+ (up to $50,000) to be filed in GD court. A fair amount are self-litigated (although not always successfully). Others are taken by attorneys on contingency, so it costs nothing out of pocket. So...If you can get an attorney to take the case, no real money OOP. Also, if she files a police report for grand larceny, it would help her case a lot--esp. if they are charged and convicted (or plead out).

My late mother used to just take her knives & scrape them on the concrete to sharpen them. When we moved into her home, I went thru her knives. I could not believe how dull they were. No wonder she complained on how hard it was to prepare meals for us. I found some unmolested large knives in the drawer. Dull from the factory. I sharpened them up & now they cut like a hot knife thru butter. By the way, when she sharpened the knives on the sidewalk, she never washed them off.

That is important. I have dyslexia. I wrote and illustrated three children's books when I was 13. But I was told to concentrate on maths and academic subjects as I struggled with them. My talent was dismissed. It took me to my thirties to have the confidence to redo the books. This was after showing them to a friend who was an author and editor. He told me that I should publish them which I did. I have now written and illustrated 7 books and illustrate as a hobby too. Especially true for mothers, bc putting all your energy into your kids can be a double-edged sword--esp. if you're a good parent & raise kids that are confident & capable. They end up going on to live great, highly productive lives, but you don't always get see much of them (especially if they move out of state). The end of Harry Chapin's "Cats In The Cradle" is very apropos here. It's easy to feel like you gave up all of who you were/could've been for these kids you love so dearly & want so much for, & when they don't seem to recognize how much being there for them cost YOU of your own hopes & dreams, it can be tough. If I had it to do over, I'd have not been so self-sacrificing. Habitual self-sacrifice in relationships is a losing bet bc, many times, people just come to EXPECT IT of you, & when you finally put your foot down, they act like you've gone mad. I don't expect my kids to be there for me when I need support, but maybe I SHOULD since I'm ALWAYS there for them.

Problem is...this is designed to keep people from complaining about things other people have all the control over. "SUFFER IN SILENCE"??? Potentates have been telling peons this for millennia. It's a good way to convince people you are preying on to turn all that anxiety inward. The healthiest thing we can do for ourselves is to learn to TALK ABOUT what bothers and hurts us that we have no control over. This saying just sends the message to NOT do that.

She has zero qualifications. Child development as a study is learning about what works for the mean and if you're lucky you get to study the differences between groups of certain children. It has nothing to do with parenting. Parenting is about understanding all the different needs of your kids specifically. It's a PhD in "your own kids". Child development will teach a student that if you take a large group of kids and you set a certain example, that most will thrive or not. Parenting is knowing exactly what works for your kid or does not. Do you know how many kids are put through all kinds of awful rules because a book told parents to? Or in this case Tik Tok? Sleep training works for the one kid, breaks the other. Practicing "lazy" parenting does not make every child thrive. Some kids need more active examples. As a parent to two totally different children, I can assure you there is no right answer. I have a PhD too. About as relevant as hers when it comes to parenting.

To be honest, she sounds like an obnoxious know it all. Now I went into parenting with zero ideas and my kids quickly taught me that book knowledge, even things that have been researched to death do not matter to them. And even though I agree with many things, she has zero experience to look back at with a baby at her hands. I also am very aware what a PhD's actually means. It means you researched the tiniest bit of your field to nice depth. Period. Won't help with parenting at all.

Why are women considered "brave" if they show how they look without make up and filters, and show their "imperfect" bodies (healthy body is NEVER imperfect btw)?
