Guy Applies To 60 Places That Said They Were Hiring, Only Gets 1 Interview, Shares How Something Doesn't Add Up

My daughter has been dealing with this, we live in upstate NY and there are signs on the vast majority of local businesses about how we need to be patient with them as they are understaffed. Every business in town has a "we are hiring" poster in at least two of their windows. My daughter graduated HS this last spring, and has applied everywhere at least twice, she has gotten 1 interview, as a side note they said that they would give her the job but ended up calling her the day before and telling her that they actually didnt have enough shifts for her, so they couldn't hire her at this time. So yeah, real familiar with this.

Not sure on this one, but I feel that walking for about an hour every day is a lot for a four year old.

If she isn't using the money, then I think she should give it back to the dad. Sorry, my husband's ex-wife lived off the child support and got nothing for the kids. I'll admit I've got a personal bias, but it sounds like she's trying a bit too hard to be practical and frugal. If a car is expensive, then use the money on that. While I have no problem with the kid walking, and it is good exercise, it's also a good idea to have a car. Why suffer walking when it's bitterly cold or raining? Or terribly hot, if that's where you live. But the thing I don't get, is if you aren't using it, it's not yours. Give it back. If an emergency arises, sounds like dad is a generous guy, and would help out.

This is a tough one. The mother is actually legally in the wrong. That money is meant for the child. The law says to use that money on him in a certain way and the father can take this woman to court and he will likely win. If he has a good lawyer she could lose custody. So, basically, while not calling her an asshole, I'm going to call her ignorant and in need of a money manager. (No, she doesn't need to hire an accountant... she needs to get money straight.)

I feel sorry for the Dad. He clearly cares about his son, and he's looking out for his son's best interests. However, as he appears to have only weekend custody, he has to do most of the parenting from a distance.

YTA. It's child support... for the child. You don't put it in savings, its for your son. And why are you making him do a 25 minute walk, every day. At least buy an uber for the kid. Maybe dad shouldn't be paying a ton of money. Maybe he should take it to court to debate if he should be giving such large sums of money. AND the money is for your SON, not you. You buy your son the essentials, you don't have to buy him all these unnecessary things but at least spend the money.

The ex should go to court and revise the terms of the support and adjust the amount if she only “needs” 30% of it. Extra 70% he should spend directly on his child how he wants. Child support is child support, not child savings.

So I am torn on this, my ex- once got angry over this same thing, BUT he thought keeping a roof over their heads and feeding them and paying bills was improper use of child support. I couldnt make him understand that I needed that money for us to survive, side note he is 19 grand in the hole and hasn't seen them in 10 plus years, and at the time the court was taking the bare minimum out of his check. I don't think this is that kind of dad though, just putting it away when you have no reason to makes no sense. If dad is invested and present and actually wants to make sure his son lives well there is absolutely no reason to not take his wishes into account. Especially if he has already provided for the boys future.

I wouldn't count on that, I had an ex who was unpredictable and could get violent and for awhile I thought the same. Then I realized, he knew and he LOVED it, it was like his kink. Please get out before its too late.

I have the same problem with my husband and kids. Im sure stems back to my mom getting hit by a truck and dying, and me calling her over and over with the mounting knowledge of dread. Logically I know that the odds they are not fine are very slim, BUT once you make those calls and it turns out that the worst has happened, you can never find that reassurance in the odds again. Its like that 99.9% chance I am over reacting means absolutely nothing now, thankfully my family knows this and is pretty good about answering calls and checking in, but in a way that just serves to make those odd times I cant reach them all the more terrifying.

It is ridiculous and it’s really harmful for your self stem. The other day I saw a L T-shirt that was 1Cm wider than a xxs. Two trousers of the same size, one fit perfectly and the other didn’t pass my tights. I bought in the same store a xxL and a L that were the same size (of a normal L). I felt horrible when I needed a xxL until I measured it with the other shirt I got. It’s horrible for the self steam.

Carton of coffee creamer in left hand, nothing in right. Go to put away coffee creamer, open fridge with right hand, turn left hand upside down. Realize my feet are getting wet, and stare at them like a moron, trying to figure out what exactly is happening. Finally, remember I had coffee creamer in my hand which is now upside down. My body is easily confused, these things happen to me alot. My husband has gotten so used to it, that he barely looks up to ask what I just accidentally threw/ dumped.

I had to move in with my parents when I was 30, with three little kids. Had just split with my husband, and was in dire straits. I payed them 300 dollars a month, bought all the food, and paid for the internet. They gave me a bedtime, and treated me in a way that ended up ruining our relationship. I kept my head down and took it, because after all I was in their house and thought since I needed their help, I deserved to be treated poorly. Its been many years at this point, but we have no relationship. I would say to this guy that some of his demands are reasonable, the wifi / netflix stuff just feels too far and passive aggressive. Plus, I would never ever kick my kid out or expect rent. My eldest is 19, and she needs all the money she can get to try and get her life started. Being a parent dosen't stop when your kid turns 18.
