Yes! I can't remember the study, but it exists-up to a certain point (I think at the time the study was done it was £40 000 a year, but inflation) money DOES actually make you happier. Then AFTER that point it has no significant effect on your happiness.

I went back to uni and got a qualification that allows me to do a higher-salary job. It turns out there are very few of these jobs in my area. I have had to move out of the house I own and rent a room in someone else's house in order to do this job that was supposed to be my ticket to a better life. The new wage I make is still below the national average.

It's not the money they want, it's the power they can buy with it. Pretty scary that people like bezos have so much control,and no incentive to change the way things are.

I really wish this didn't say "every boomer alive". That's utter b******t. This is not about age, but about values (imo). There are plenty of boomers who are progressive Bernie Sanders, anyone? I am saying this as a gen-x-er, but we get lumped in with boomers (my parent's generation). Okay. Mini-rant over. edited to add- I agree with everything in this post, except for the "every boomer alive" comment.
