It is definitely important to try and know both sides of the story. According to my ex partner (after almost 6 years together) I'm a "sponge and a freeloader" (funny when I was the only one who worked), I'm a "thief" (never stolen anything), a "child abuser" and a "violent alcoholic", apparently I've been cheating on her for years and I didn't leave because she threw me out when I wouldn't give her her own way, she threw me out because I was threatening to beat her and steal her stuff. Despite all of this, I haven't told anyone what the relationship was like from my point of view, how trapped I felt, how isolated because she had actively driven a wedge between myself, friends and family. I have not once accused her of things or even gone into too much detail about the ins and outs to anyone. I'm the crazy, freeloading sponge apparently

Women face a lot of preassure to look a certain way so we are often forced to put much more effort than men into how we look. A man with a clean face, nice shirt and jeans is deemed presentable but a woman is expected to have perfect hair, makeup and fancier clothes. I know because as a woman I wear short hair no makeup and simple clothes (unless its a formal occassion) and people really judged me for it. Ironically that includes men who complained about their girlfriend taking too long to be ready.
