Anti-vaxxer conspiracies have continued to spread, and because of their beliefs - so have the measles. Oregon and Washington are among eighteen states that allow families to opt-out of vaccines for viral diseases based on philosophical beliefs, which is why these areas have been the most recent hotbed for the measles outbreak. More than 50 people have been infected across Southwest Washington state and Northwest Oregon - and everyone is fed up with the anti-vaccination science deniers.
"It's an outbreak because generally, the way we define an outbreak is when you have more observed cases than expected cases. And generally with measles, the expected number is zero," Dr. Alan Melnick with Clark County Public Health told KOIN6 TV in Portland, Oregon, last week. "You know, we have a very effective vaccine for measles. Two shots are 97 percent effective. So we really shouldn't be seeing measles." I reckon if you asked an 8 year old if they would have an injection that could stop them getting a terrible illness that could kill them but has a small risk involved they would be smart enough to get the vaccine.

When I was 8 years old, they gave me vaccines for a few diseases. I was told what they were and that they would help me not get whooping cough. I knew a family that had a baby with whooping cough and it was horrible. So I wanted the vaccine, even if it hurt for a moment.

I'm always bemused by how little history the anti vaccination people know. Having benefited gigantically from the sciences that have raised life expectancy to its current level, they stupidly assume "it was always like this" .
Thank our grand parents who stepped up and rolled up their sleeves -and their screaming children's sleeves - to defeat diseases we have never even seen in our life times. What has happened to these new generations??

I'm 64. When I was 2 I got measles, not even very badly. Then we went on holiday to a family farm where I - and everyone else - had fresh milk - it being a dairy farm - I got tuberculosis - no-one else did. It was because I'd not long had the measles and it had dropped my immune resistance very low. So at 3 I spent 8 months in a sanotorium - and I was lucky I got it in my right knee and left eye. My mother could only visit at weekends as it was a 2 hour journey each way and they didn't have a car. I can still remember the injections - and when I came out of hospital I had streptomycin tablets. They were very successful, but it was early in their development and were made in liver, they were big brown smarties that you had to chew and tasted awful. I was lucky - I survived - not all the children did. Since then I've never been healthy - I had my right kneecap removed when I was 22 because of arthritis, I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. All because I had measles

One argument that I see a lot is "I wouldn't set my kid on fire to keep yours warm" and every time I see some one post it I just blink at the screen. How is that even a valid argument. Fear is the greatest destroyer of good deeds. I can guarantee you that 90% of all anti-vaxxers out there were vaccinated as kids. And I would be less trustworthy of vaccines back than I am of them now since many were still in early development at the time they were introduced. Antivaxxers say the pharmaceutical industry is in it for the profits. But baby coffins, walkers and wheelchairs aren't cheap...so who would you rather give your money to. The people that say that they can keep your child alive or the ones that take advantage of them after they've been harmed by a preventable disease?

My sons on the high autistic spectrum. He's has very very many vaccines. Even if a vaccine caused it, I doubt I'd care. I'd rather him be somewhat antisocial than dead. Side effects? Does nobody understand breathing causes death? Your body is warm because it slowly burns oxygen in your cells. You gonna hold ya breath?

Did,, did you not even read any the posts? It even says pretty clearly that the amount of aluminum found in vaccines is similar to that found in a liter of infant formula. If it was so toxic to humans it wouldn’t be found it all sorts of human products; is it toxic in large amounts? Yes, but vaccines are not packed to the brim with aluminum or anything.
