Whether or not to vaccinate your children has continued to be a hot button argument across discussion platforms. Famous make-up and tattoo artist Kat Von D got in hot water recently for posting on Instagram that her unborn baby would not be vaccinated.

While substantial research shows vaccines are safe and vital in disease prevention, refusal of childhood vaccines at the doctor is on the rise. It could be argued that having these famous allies has emboldened anti-vaxxer groups, whatever the reason never shy away from sharing their opinions online. When science isn't on your side it can make these arguments tricky, but as you’ll see in these examples that doesn't stop them from trying. Some people tried to embellish their medical background, while others could benefit from a class in logic.

Bored Panda shares some of the best anti-vaxxer fails below, to show you better have your proof together before coming to the internet. (Facebook cover image: MangoStar Studio l Cover image: Andriano Cz)

Do people don't understand we have dangerous diseases that can't be obliterated by our immune system alone because a) those diseases are new b) therefore our immune system isn't familiar with them and can't fight on its own?!

Wow. I wish when people are trying to sound more intelligent and learned that all the doctors, scientists and biologists, that they would learn to spell and at least take a stab at punctuation. They'd still sound ignorant, but at least it wouldn't be so painful to read their arguments.

My doctor has a Facebook page, it has been fun over the years watching her eviscerate anti-vaxxers and anti-flu shot proponents with facts and logic. Some idiot came at her with the "for profit" argument about the flu shots and she gave a very detailed, itemized list of her expenses regarding flu shots and explained how she not only doesn't make a profit, some years takes a huge loss and made him look like a total dolt. She's awesome!

My folks were Never hit by a car, can, or cat for that matter. I haven't been hit either. I played in the road, canning facilities, grocery stores, and teased the family pet. That's all the proof I need that I don't need vaccines! I'm invincible! Hahaha!

I wonder if anti-vax even realised why pro-vax started saying "hit by a can".

I was once hit by a can of green beans that attacked me from the top shelf of a super market. I thought that meant my kids and I would be immune. Alas, poor little Bobby was later attacked by a can of chicken noodle and didn't make it while suzie was scarred permanently by some beefaroni. Please don't make the assumption that just because one can won't kill you that all others are safe, too!

Most do not die from it, unless there are complications, which in the scheme of things are rare. When I was young, I was vaccinated, but I still got Whooping Cough, Mumps, Measles, and German Measles, not nearly as bad as some of my family and friends, but those childhood illnesses were more common then, (1950's) Not so common now, I wonder why?? Oh yes, vaccines.

I don't actually believe anti-vaxxers believe that vaccines cause autism. It is just so stupid and outrageous thing to think about that I just don't think people are really serious that they are anti-vaxxers.

🤔 I was vaccinated as a child and I never once caught any diseases! And why is that? BECAUSE I GOT PROPER VACCINATIONS! mind-blowing I know. 🤫

I don't get the logic of those people. They won't get the vaccines because BIG PHARMA is trying to poison them, but when they catch the preventable disease, they go to a doctor and take their medicine. If you're gonna be dumb, at least be 100% dumb...

Response is b******t vaccines provide ZERO immunity. Immunity mandates a humoral response. Vaccines stimulate visceral response of antibodies and at best protect one from a disease for 2--8 years -rarely longer. There IS NO VACCINE IMMUNITY so the assertion of natural and artificial immunity being the same is total anti-science. i was in school in the early 60s and have permanent immunity to measles, mumps, chicken pox and who knows what else i got - NATURALLY. i've waded through schools of carrying children years, decades later and never a problem. Vaccines wear off. Then a simple almost benign childhood disease becomes a post-pubescent problem. Example - older kids w/mumps are 15X more likely to have permanent disabilities, 20X more likely to die from it than if they had it as a little kid. That's seriously not a good option. When your body encounters diseases it deals with them. A mutated measles might mean another round of the itching and mild fever - but treated the same way

Oh my. They probably didn't catch it and die from it because all the sane people who are vaccinated massively reduced everyone's odds of catching it. How can these people not see that, if we all gave up vaccines, these diseases would re-establish over time?!

Strictly speaking, Washington had his troops variolated - innoculated with a less deadly form of the smallpox virus, variola major. Soon after Washington's innoculation process Edward Jenner worked out that inoculation with the much more harmless vaccinia virus (commonly known at the time as copox) gave cross-protection with smallpox, and instituted the practice of vaccination. Washington's innoculation, whilst completely successful, was more potentially more dangerous, but it certainly helped to establish the principle of protection by innoculation. And finally - antivaccination is a totally borked notion...
