Whether or not to vaccinate your children has continued to be a hot button argument across discussion platforms. Famous make-up and tattoo artist Kat Von D got in hot water recently for posting on Instagram that her unborn baby would not be vaccinated.

While substantial research shows vaccines are safe and vital in disease prevention, refusal of childhood vaccines at the doctor is on the rise. It could be argued that having these famous allies has emboldened anti-vaxxer groups, whatever the reason never shy away from sharing their opinions online. When science isn't on your side it can make these arguments tricky, but as you’ll see in these examples that doesn't stop them from trying. Some people tried to embellish their medical background, while others could benefit from a class in logic.

Bored Panda shares some of the best anti-vaxxer fails below, to show you better have your proof together before coming to the internet. (Facebook cover image: MangoStar Studio l Cover image: Andriano Cz)

Self healing? Try telling that to people who die from cancer.

I'm currently suffering From self-healing. I have an auto-immune disorder causing my thyroid to go nuts. I am at the last resort of treatment, thyroidectomy, before it kills me. It's not playing God, more like debugging the programming.

I wonder if antivaxers ever opened their eyes and see how people who can't afford them suffers without vaccination? or those who are too sick or too young/old to be vaccinated to live their lives in fear that even a simple cold could kill them? do they believe in vaccinating their pets too? or do they just willingly watch their pets die if they ever gets sick as well?

When people say "playing God" it makes me wonder: If God never makes mistakes and does everything with the knowledge of what the outcome will be then why did he create a human being that was smart enough to invent a vaccine to help us...it may sound childish to some, but thats always been my thought process when people say something like that.

same. I go bigger though. If God was this all knowing, never making mistakes thing- why make any of it. Why the Universe then?

Some diseases are more powerful than our immune systems. Some people have less powerful immune systems. And like all other animals, our immune systems have been there since the beginning of time. If our immune systems were enough, there would never have been diseases to begin with. And if "self-healing" were enough, I have to presume anti-vaxxers don't seek treatment for broken limbs. Because with "self-healing", who needs to set a broken bone?

And if someone were to accidentally give you small pox, hmm? Could your immune system fight it off and not kill you, or the rest of your unvaccinated family? And if by chance you don’t die, you’ll be horribly scarred the rest of your life, and people will forever be asking you what happened... your reply? I got small pox, their reply?... you mean you didn’t get vaccinated? Are you f*****g crazy??!!?

Wait. What they said is not inherently wrong. The Human Species as a whole was those things. The ones that don't develop and change die off. The ones that do have an advantage survive. But.. we don't live in the wild anymore for the most part. As such those who are weak (which is most of us now) have technology and science that allows us to live. So the self developing and healing and all that is now dependent on science and technology. So basically they are saying those born with treatable illness should be let to die. Otherwise their statement is just wrong.

I think it's awesome that some tribes near the Amazonas river are immune to the most obnoxious bacteria which are resistant to every known antibiotic. By stating this, I am NOT arguing against vaccines. Just wanted to throw in something interesting.

I 've always lived in Texas and that was what my Mom and my friends' moms did to make sure we caught it young and then got over it. Maybe because it's easier to make small kids keep socks on their hands or something. Because the older you are when you catch it, the more likely you are to die from it. My daughters' father didn't get chicken pox till he was in his late teens/early twenties and it almost killed him. My daughter never had chicken pox, but she did get the chicken pox vaccination. She got every single vaccination there is. Including the one for Human Papilloma Virus, which can cause cervical cancer in women. She is the healthiest person I know. She's 23 now, married, and a practicing R.N. who specializes in Critical Care Dyalisis. Before getting her nursing license she had to get a whole bunch of other vaccines, just in case she ended up with a patient with malaria or Ebola or something else we don't normally run into here.

A foster daughter (15) had a sister that didn't get her vaccines- at approx 3 months she got exposed to chicken pox from her brother who got it at school. This little Angel remains a baby and had many medical issues- she passed at age 13. Her Asia family did not believe in them either- sadly her brother got a serious case mumps- he was rendered sterile. A child I babysat (9mo)passed from measles Tell me you don't need your kids to have them.

Oh, well, glasses are the same thing as injecting multiple toxic chemicals, carcinogens, random DNA (mutagenesis happens and is proven) toxic metals and diseases into the body by ignoring natural disease acquisition and injecting it artificially in a subcutaneous and intramuscular injection. JUST LIKE GLASSES - why didn't i notice that before!

My doctor has a Facebook page, it has been fun over the years watching her eviscerate anti-vaxxers and anti-flu shot proponents with facts and logic. Some idiot came at her with the "for profit" argument about the flu shots and she gave a very detailed, itemized list of her expenses regarding flu shots and explained how she not only doesn't make a profit, some years takes a huge loss and made him look like a total dolt. She's awesome!

Oh my. They probably didn't catch it and die from it because all the sane people who are vaccinated massively reduced everyone's odds of catching it. How can these people not see that, if we all gave up vaccines, these diseases would re-establish over time?!

Strictly speaking, Washington had his troops variolated - innoculated with a less deadly form of the smallpox virus, variola major. Soon after Washington's innoculation process Edward Jenner worked out that inoculation with the much more harmless vaccinia virus (commonly known at the time as copox) gave cross-protection with smallpox, and instituted the practice of vaccination. Washington's innoculation, whilst completely successful, was more potentially more dangerous, but it certainly helped to establish the principle of protection by innoculation. And finally - antivaccination is a totally borked notion...
