Whether or not to vaccinate your children has continued to be a hot button argument across discussion platforms. Famous make-up and tattoo artist Kat Von D got in hot water recently for posting on Instagram that her unborn baby would not be vaccinated.

While substantial research shows vaccines are safe and vital in disease prevention, refusal of childhood vaccines at the doctor is on the rise. It could be argued that having these famous allies has emboldened anti-vaxxer groups, whatever the reason never shy away from sharing their opinions online. When science isn't on your side it can make these arguments tricky, but as you’ll see in these examples that doesn't stop them from trying. Some people tried to embellish their medical background, while others could benefit from a class in logic.

Bored Panda shares some of the best anti-vaxxer fails below, to show you better have your proof together before coming to the internet. (Facebook cover image: MangoStar Studio l Cover image: Andriano Cz)

Do people don't understand we have dangerous diseases that can't be obliterated by our immune system alone because a) those diseases are new b) therefore our immune system isn't familiar with them and can't fight on its own?!

It's generally called and MSc IN Epidemiology or an MPH. Epidemiologists don't consider a google search on all that "information out there" as "research".

Also, I don't think that there's a Masters in 'Epidemiology Science'. A: or quotient be called that anyway, and B: wouldn't that be a doc that specialized in skin diseases and conditions? I mean, I love the Pimple Popper Doc but I wouldn't ask her for advice on immune systems not twisted to the skin... How exactly does not getting an MD/PHD in skin diseases qualify you as an expert on vaccines?

Epidemiology is the study of how diseases spread through a population, the efficacy of disease prevention programs (like vaccinations) and other things related to the spread and control of disease and other negative health outcomes. Dermatology is skin.

Bad ploy, but i am not any licensed anything - just pretty smart - and i've studied the vaccine story for over 7 years. Started from thinking that MANDATORY vaccination is a SWAT assault that will destroy the doors that protect ALL of YOUR freedoms. So now California is LITERALLY a medical dictator, literally practicing medicine without a license, and "medically diagnosing" all people as a one-size-fits-all proposition. All those points are fuckn insane. After studying from the standpoint of freedom i realized that the science behind vaccines is b******t and green blankets hiding Oz. Some of the insane claims of the industry blow sane minds. Dr Paul Offitt saying that a newborn could safely handle 10,000 vaccines at once. That's over 350 CUBIC INCHES of poison. If you follow the CDC and FDA guidelines for safe amounts of aluminum - you need to wait on your infant vaccines until that child is in their adult size to have ONE of those vaccines be safe. Since they don't adjust for weight

a 9# infant would get the equivalent of 20 shots in Dr Offitt. If the baby were 6# = it would be 30 shots in Offitt. And that's just one newborn vaccine assault - they get multiple shots. S Korea "had chicken pox problem" in 2005. Increase vax rates multiple steps on the way. EVERY time the vax rate increased, the disease occurrence and outbreak rate increased MORE. Now they have 97% infant compliance, 95% societal chicken pox vax compliance. Their chicken pox rate is FIVE TIMES MORE THAN 2005. And vaccination helps? Well - at least this absolutely puts to rest that b******t about vaccines providing the mythical "herd immunity" which by the way was theorized about NATURAL disease cycles before vaccines in the 40s. When those kids had the natural, wild measles (like me) they actually developed permanent immunity - you never can with shots. Never. Your "protection" will wear off in 2-about 8 yrs. If you get the disease it will be way worse & more dangerous than if you got it as a kid.

Wow. I wish when people are trying to sound more intelligent and learned that all the doctors, scientists and biologists, that they would learn to spell and at least take a stab at punctuation. They'd still sound ignorant, but at least it wouldn't be so painful to read their arguments.

My doctor has a Facebook page, it has been fun over the years watching her eviscerate anti-vaxxers and anti-flu shot proponents with facts and logic. Some idiot came at her with the "for profit" argument about the flu shots and she gave a very detailed, itemized list of her expenses regarding flu shots and explained how she not only doesn't make a profit, some years takes a huge loss and made him look like a total dolt. She's awesome!

Oh my. They probably didn't catch it and die from it because all the sane people who are vaccinated massively reduced everyone's odds of catching it. How can these people not see that, if we all gave up vaccines, these diseases would re-establish over time?!

Strictly speaking, Washington had his troops variolated - innoculated with a less deadly form of the smallpox virus, variola major. Soon after Washington's innoculation process Edward Jenner worked out that inoculation with the much more harmless vaccinia virus (commonly known at the time as copox) gave cross-protection with smallpox, and instituted the practice of vaccination. Washington's innoculation, whilst completely successful, was more potentially more dangerous, but it certainly helped to establish the principle of protection by innoculation. And finally - antivaccination is a totally borked notion...
