Anorexia – Story Of An Artwork

Anorexia is known as a populer disease of our time. Girls are suffering to become more beautiful based on the fashion industry’s guidelines. All they are trying to do is to imitate the others, especially what they see in photos that have been digitally manipulated, and they end up suffering and damaging their health. The pain they go through pushes them into great darkness that can only end up in tragedy. It’s called Depression!

The arrows in the waist, show the exact symbol of torture to be taken for a thin waist.

The hair that is cut is also a symbol of depression.

I wish all the girls going through something like this know one thing: “You are beautiful as you are, be yourself!”

If the BMI number defined by 703* (weight in LB) / (height in inches)^2 [imperial] or (weight in kilos)/(height in meters)^2 is between 18 and 25 then everything is OK. Supermodels denying science and saying BMI 20 is too fat dont deserve being on a tv camera.

thank you for creating and sharing your art. You make something so deeply personal and then present it to the world with an open heart. Not everyone is so fearless.

As someone who has gone through anorexia, this is a very cool and true piece of art. It's so great!

This is bull. Anorexia is a mental illness. Severe cases are rarely imitating the fashion industry or an attempt to "imitate others." If I wanted to look like a model, I would have stopped 40 pounds ago. No model, Photoshopped or not, looks like a concentration camp victim. Stop calling teenage dieting anorexia. I'm sorry you have body image issues, but that's not a disease. Destroying your life, your kidneys, your heart, your bones - that's not born from s desire to look like Heidi Klum, who is the picture of health compared to most severely anorexic women.

Anorexia can start out as wanting to emulate others and be "ideal in the eyes of others", or be the perfect weight, or simply to take control of ones life. But whatever it starts out from, it does develop as one of the most dangerous diseases there is. I had bulimia as a teenager. I came through it. I was strong enough. My daughter, has anorexia. She is a smart (A-stream academically), and rather beautiful girl. She is hospitalized now, medically stable, but mentally unwell. YES technically it is a disease as the brain chemistry has been changed drastically. This mental illness is seen as a disease, as it has the highest death rate of any other mental illness. It kills. Fact.
