Here Are Some Of The Most Displeasing And Annoying TV And Film Characters Ever (30 Examples)
Every movie or TV series has that one character that gets on your nerves. Remember Skyler from Breaking Bad or Geoffrey Baratheon from Game Of Thrones? There’s just something wrong with them - their silly stubbornness, unyielding character, and zero grip on reality are probably what makes them so irksome. Although in Skyler’s case, that is the impression when you watch Breaking Bad for the first time as with further viewings, you really start to get her. However, these two are definitely not the only annoying characters on your silver screens; there are plenty more! So many, in fact, that we’ve dedicated a whole list to the most annoying TV and film characters. So, ready to get bothered?
As mentioned above, things like blind stubbornness can make a movie character an inherently annoying one; however, there are plenty more factors that make them so. One that we’d like to mention is bad character writing - how could a good actor make a persona likable when all his dialogues are as smart or as witty as a potato? This might be the case with some Twilight series characters - sorry if you’re a fan! Another thing that makes a film or series character an irksome one is their silliness - although it might be fun, once it is overdone, it just gets on your nerves. This is our take on what makes a character into a very hateful and annoying entity, but if you have your own theories - be sure to mention them in the comments section!
But shouldn’t we check out our picks of the most annoying TV and film characters first? From animated series to TV shows and to some huge Hollywood productions, it seems that no one is safe from such bothersome types. However, we still have to decide who is the most annoying one, so give the character of your choice a vote!

Bella Swan, The Twilight Saga
They picked a horrible actress to play her. Every single movie I have seen with Kristen Stewart she has acted exactly the same just different words came out of her mouth. I may be in the minority but I have no idea how she ever became a famous actress.
Maybe you could watch her other movies where she acts differently. If she was that bad she would not be getting major roles.
Load More Replies...Basic, though. Why is a 100 yo still going to school? If he hasn't learnt it all in the first 20~30 years, he never will!
IN the book the worst character was actually Lauren. She was like the Regina George of Twilight. Also wasn't a fan of Jessica, the speech at thee wedding was so bad. She just came off as a jealous nitwit.
Textbook pretty ppl are usually hired over skilled yet less appealing to look at ppl. Unfortunately.
Load More Replies...I showed my mom that Bella was on this list and she went "Yep. Top of the list as she should be."
This was a character hell I thought it was a department store mannequin
Same! People love to hate on Twilight because it was specifically written for women, and especially for teenage girls, and our culture loves to hate on teenage girls. The root of it all is honestly unexamined cultural misogyny. Anyway, I loved the Twilight books!! I'm sad to see this at the top.
Load More Replies...A lot of the characters sucked, and made the stupidest decisions.
Load More Replies...I think they cast her really well, the character is not strong at all, it seems the only emotion she has is to just be a passive complainer. And the actress nailed it.
"This is the skin of a killer Bella" While looking like some 5 year old's kindergarten art project puked on him. smh
She's also so plain looking too, Ive never understood the public's fascination around her, she's literally a plain Jane who can't act to save her life
Kristen Stewart is wonderfully gay these days and I can appreciate what she's doing in terms of visibility for LGBT actors. I even liked her in that role where she played Princess Diana. But oof, she was so bad in this. If her dad weren't a producer with an "in" for her career, I doubt she would have ever been cast. Hollywood is so rife with nepotism...which I guess makes it just like any other well-paying industry 🙄
Best part of the whole lot ..Mr Sparkle throwing up when he could smell her :D I really hated the films
I don't know why she's so popular. She couldn't act her way out of a paper bag.
She was pretty good in the movie "Zathura" but I didn't like the Twilight series at all so...
Come on now. The entire Twilight Saga stunk. Give cred to the entire cast for this debacle.
I was so bored reading the books that I tried jumping ahead 10 pages just to see if the plot even moved. The best part of the movie was when the vampire started beating the c**p out of her, I actually wanted to yell "BOOO!" when Edward saved her. I still can't believe my dad actually loved the movie so much he would watch the whole series from start to finish once a month.
Twilight is the most annoying and displeasing show if you really like vampires.
Actually she portrays the character described on the book pretty well. Go and read the books if you think she hasn’t emotions, her character is described there. Stewart did it great.
I thought she did a great job in the movies. Yes, there are times where she makes a face or reaction and I laugh because it isn't perfect acting, but I enjoy the movies because I don't take them too seriously.
Dolores Umbridge, Harry Potter Franchise
Joffrey Baratheon, Game Of Thrones
That young actor was so good at his job it went bad for him. Stupid people would harass him...
Nellie Olson, Little House On The Prarie
Carrie Bradshaw, Sex And The City
Barney, Barney & Friends
I love you .... You love Me ... we're a happppy family ... I had that ringtone with the kid gunning him down and shouting 'shut the fluff up' many moons ago
Caillou, Caillou
It was the song ..... and now it's in my head and I want to ....arrrghhhhh SHE HULK SMASH!!!!!
Jar Jar Binks, Star Wars Universe
Veruca Salt, Charlie And The Chocolate Factory
Buzz McAllister, Home Alone Series
Edward Cullen, The Twilight Saga
Caledon Hockley, Titanic
Andrea, The Walking Dead
Lori Grimes was much, much worse. "Oh, I think my husband died 5 minutes ago. I'll just f**k his best friend and blame it on my grief."
Ross Geller, Friends
Prince Hans, Frozen
Lori Grimes, The Walking Dead
Anastasia Steele, Fifty Shades Of Grey
Christian Grey, Fifty Shades Of Grey
The Annoying Orange, Annoying Orange
Scrappy-Doo, Scooby-Doo Universe
Prince Charming, Shrek Series
Viserys Targaryen, Game Of Thrones
Pat, Saturday Night Live
Back in my university days I know someone who sounded and looked exactly like Pat. And this was their regular behaviour. It was weird.
Cousin Oliver, The Brady Bunch
Dora The Explorer, Dora The Explorer
Kimmy Gibbler, Full House
Dawson Leery, Dawson's Creek
The Cat In The Hat, Dr. Seuss' Cat In The Hat
Skyler White, Breaking Bad
She gets way too much of a bad press. Yeah she was a wee bit annoying but you know what? Don't blame her for the way she reacted to her awful husband. He was a liar, a thief, a murderer, a drug kingpin and ruined everyone's life. I think some of her behaviour can most definitely be justified.
Jacob Black, The Twilight Saga

i feel like it kind of defeats the point of the list to put the show/movie's literal antagonists
Exactly! I knew maybe one of them. But aren't they supposed to be like that? For the good of the show/movie?
Load More Replies...This list is a mess. It mixes well-written, well-played villains (like Dolores Umbridge or Joffrey Baratheon), which are not supposed to be likable, with annoying protagonists that are badly written and/or badly played. Not the same thing at all.
You as adult can't just judge any character which is meant for kids. Because kids could find them amazing and a nice behaviour pattern. Same for the teen stories characters. Maybe the author of this is a grumpy boomer xD
Can I include most children that appear in movies, the kids Jurassic Park springs to mind.
Buttercup from “The Princess Bride”. She’s useless and insufferable. When she’s not being a stuck-up brat to Westley she’s moping around waiting to be rescued.
Some of these are just written badly, like Bella swan, but some were created to make you hate them like Umbridge
Or, also missing: the woman in Stephen King's Misery!!! Magnificent performance by Kathy Bates (is supposed to be horrible and unlikeable though, so maybe not right for this list?).
Load More Replies...I can't believe they had 100 characters and no one mentioned Oliver Wells from Bones who's literally the most arrogant, self absorbed and annoying person ever. I know, he's supposed to be annoying but they really managed to get that through tho
Some of these characters were meant to be controversial, and they were quite good at it, since they were well-written and well-acted. Others were annoying because of a lack of artistic talent on various sides.
Some you hated because they were villains and you were supposed to hate them. Some you hated them because they were so poorly conceived or written. Some were supposed to be villains, but the real reason you hated them was because they were so poorly conceived or written. And some were supposed to be annoying, but actually weren't.
Zach from The Strain. In the books he is okay-ish, but in the series he so f*****g annoying!
98% agree with this list. Man, there's some mega annoying people. I'm a big film fan, but I just never got the hype surrounding Zoolander or Austin Powers. Even thinking of those characters makes me feeling uncomfortable. Ben Stiller and Adam Sandler are way better in serious roles than comedy. The whole Vampire thing got boring after Sookie turned into a fairy that's where all vampire shows should have ended. As for GoT, argh, IMO, other than an overall good looking show, sets and cinematography wise, casting could have done a far better job.
