Humanity needs an upgrade, a software patch: the first thing that should be phased out are those pesky little behaviors that irritate us. That frustrate us. That make us rant and rave on the internet and to our friends.
Bored Panda has compiled a detailed list of these annoying things that people do, big and small, all for your viewing (dis)pleasure. Executive coach Dr. Marcia Reynolds notes on Psychology Today that we should save our energy for serious fights instead of wasting it on everyone who annoys us even slightly. Minor conflicts aren’t worth getting stormy about, even if we might want to teach someone a well-earned lesson.
According to Dr. Reynolds if you “shift your attention elsewhere” and remove the energy from the fight, you might surprise the person who’s currently making your life a living hell. It’s a different path that’s available to us: instead of making the person go into their defensive mode and stick to their story, now they’re wondering what exactly is going on.

Prior to the ubiquitous growth of e-vehicles, it's easy enough to move to the side when you hear one coming behind you. At the same time, I've also encountered people who will *scream* at you if you go within a nanomillimeter of their parked car, with or without a trolley, so walking in the middle then makes sense. Combine the two and you can get people of a certain age who are not quick on their feet attempting to move out of the way because they'll be screamed at by the parked car owners and honked at by the drivers and it's no wonder so many older people no longer give a flying Frick.
Who cares about e-vehicles... if pedestrians would just walk on the side ALL THE TIME, there wouldn't be an issue. I never walk right down the middle or in one of the lanes. Be courteous to others.

I almost got hit by car that ended up back up into me. Apparently I was in her blind spot cos I was too close to her car. Pedestrians can never be in a satisfactory safe place when walking in a parking lot. There's no sidewalk or pedestrian path. There should be. Cars aren't supposed to be whizzing around in them, anyways.
Or the cars that block the way because theyvare waiting for someone to load their groceries so they can pull in their spot.

I think this is a problem with parking lot design. There's essentially no place to walk in most parking lots that won't be in the way, especially with mobility aids and/or shopping carts. There are designs that address this by providing access aisles between the rows of parked cars, but the aisles take up a lot of room, so it means fewer spaces to park. In the U.S., cars mostly win out in situations like this.
I think it's fine to walk in the middle for safety (people in cars not looking when backing out and such), but if you're able to hear the cars around you, listen. Don't go off in your own little world. And if you hear a car coming near you, check around, if it's behind you, move over to let them pass then go back to walking. Simple. But I've no problem with people doing this if they have hearing problems (probably just can't hear the cars. Fair) or are blind (likely concentrating more on where they're going, also fair).
My neighbour in uni had a hearing impairment and was blind, he walked in the middle for his safety since people would speed in parking lots and nearly run him down. Even with a guide dog, he walked the middle. It forces speeding drivers to acknowledge his presence. The dog couldn't always react in time due to all the hubbub of the city.
And even if you get out of the way dont go 0.3 miles an hour doing it
This is a general pet peeve of mine. If you are in a place where others are moving, move out of the way. Parking lot, isles of the supermarket, isle of the plane, hallways, hallway in the airport, walking down the sidewalk, where ever. Don't slow traffic by being oblivious.
Maybe she's deaf/didn't hear the car. People really need to control their anger about someone simply walking in a parking lot

I walk in the middle now, I do it because I have almost been hit multiple times by people not looking before they start to back up. If I hear someone behind me I will move over but I be damn if I am going to walk right beside cars anymore.
I hate cars that wait in the middle of the aisle while waiting for a parking spot. I will pull over to the side as far as I can so other cars can get buy if I'm waiting for someone loading their car to finish and leave.
I HATE people who do that! I've usually spotted a parking spot and because of people like that somebody else will beat me to that spot coming from the other direction. It's almost like they're asking to be run over!

She is worried about one of those big pickup trucks backing over her. I don't blame her, I have had a few near misses with the people who drive them just backing up without looking.
I had my car t-boned by an idiot who didn't look before backing out at top speed! Heaven forbid I'd been walking by.....he'd have killed me. Really old, couldn't hear, couldn't see well, couldn't move well (so slow reflexes even if he had bothered to look), should've been a passenger instead of a driver. At the age he must've been I think he would've earned being chauffeured by one of his kids or grandkids.

No, this is a sign of the crazy American "cars first" mentality that screws up the entire infrastructure. In Europe, this would be ample space to pass, but not so in the US. So, even with her more to the side, it would be uncomfortable to pass. So you just be patient and wait till she gets to her car. Now to the other comparison. If the US would not have this extreme focus on car ownership, everything would be more to human scale. Parking lots would be smaller (with less time waiting for someone to get to their car may I add), bikes and pedestrians would get space and stores would not have to be as big as they are. So yeah. No. Chill.

So many things that drive me crazy on here. But your lucky to drive, have a car, have friends, have a job, and be alive. Remember that.

The only reason you might feel the need to shame these people is because modern society has normalized disregard for authority, and thereby encourages disregard for the law as well as social mores, or else you simply want to feel good about yourself by pointing out flaws in others. Either way, you are whining rather than doing what is necessary to stop behaviours like this.
It drives my husband batty sometimes, but when I see cups at the mall/carts in the parking lot that are going to hit cars or block spaces/ perishable food on shelves I take a second to fix it. Yes I know some people get paid to do it but those people usually also have 1,000 other duties. IDK, it feels like most people don't care about others and that's the root of most of these. (The rest like the phone screens are just funny but I couldn't live with)
