Microsoft is possibly the worst company in the universe! I despise Office 365, but we have to use it and...OMG! Have you ever tried to insert even a tiny graphic into a Word document? Hair pulling, screaming and nastiness follows. An hour spent working in 365 is equal to a lifetime of frustration.
Just this AM, my boss walked past my office just as I was going: "OH FOR PHUCKS SAKE, undo!!!!"

Remembering thatbone time microsoft word start acting up 15 minutes before the deadline pass and made me scream my lungs out..
If I need to use graphics, I use Excel. I am a pro at manipulating rows and columns to fit my text. I can insert the graphics anywhere I want them to be, tilt them, change the size, etc. I use Word for prose with no problems. But if I need to use an image, create a quiz etc., I'm all about Excel.
This is why I'm glad I have Adobe InDesign. I can put graphics and things wherever the fauq I want.
The answer to this is to use LaTeX. Once you get the hang of it, using MS Word just feels like using dial-up internet.
Learn to use MS Word. It's and easy and fun fix, once you know how to do it. Once you insert your image, right click and scroll down to "wrap text". Try different settings. Take the time to learn the program and you'll be amazed by what you can accomplish within it.

As a graphic designer who's sometimes asked to convert a layout into a Word document, I can feel my blood pressure already boiling. Hate Word.

Double-click on the picture -> Wrap text -> "In front of text" or "behind text". Then you can move the picture wherever you want without influencing the text.
I used to love Quark Xpress . . . until InDesign came out.

Put the picture in a frame or a 1x1 table - it cannot escape from that. And, don't use Microsoft Word (I use OpenOffice)

Which is why for documents including pictures, columns, etc, I use WordPerfect.
It is strange but I love it. I love the insane way it works, and its silly 'rules'. This way I learn about its creator, which is quite funny.

@microsoft Not sure you'll even see this but please fix that!!!! It makes me want to die when I have to make 8 double-sided exam papers and they make me keep re-editing and changing things but everything shifts every single time. I spend HOURS every night for a month fixing the shifts. Yes I am low tech but please help.
