Hi, I’m Brian! I created Zoodraws—a comic that’s about my love for wildlife, misadventures in parenting, and grand adventures with all things geeky. Hopefully, you can relate to at least one of these.
A lot has changed since I first posted here two months ago. After some outstanding efforts from my home state, New York has almost entirely reopened, and so my daily routine has slowly returned to normal. But while Zoodraws' following on social media has steadily grown each day, I'm still looking for a way where I could turn this into a full-time or even a part-time job. Ideally, I'd love to someday see a collection of my animal facts comics made into a book.
Until then, I try to devote as much free time as possible to this comic because I think it has a future. And I love doing it. Check out my previous post here. Thanks! And stay safe.

As a regular watcher of the TV quiz show QI (Quite Interesting) it's impossible to not know this fact thanks to Alan Davies.
"Mom" Not "Mommy"
I can remember being at primary school, aged 5, and hearing other children saying mum and thinking I needed to stop saying mummy if I didn't want to look like a baby.
I started saying "Mother" when I entered HS if not the following year. She raised such an eyebrow that I felt my soul was being walked on. That was abandoned quickly.
My mom hates it because she said it sounds like a "certain" word comes after it, haha

My mom would have preferred it if I would have called her by her first name but I couldn't stop calling her "maman"...
Mama, always. Thats why I can't stand it when my husband calls me Mutter(n).... well maybe I hate it because he calls his Mother that.
I can see that mother-in-law association feeling awkward. It's nice in German that there is no shorter, mature version of Mama - that way no "cool" 5-year-old friends will put you off saying it.
