Wild Fox Becomes A Loyal Friend To A Guy Who Saved Him From A Fur Farm (40 Pics)
109Kviews
Here's a story about Woody the fox, and Yaroslav, his loving owner. Woody almost ended up on someone's collar: he was raised on a fur farm and was destined to be slain for profit. In 2015, Yaroslav showed up and got him out of there. But he didn't go full vigilante, as in Russia, owning a fur farm is somewhat legal in some places.
But once Yaroslav saw Woody, he just couldn't let that scenario happen. He talked to the owners of the fur farm and the owners agreed to give the fox to him, on the condition that he'd pay them the price of what they expected to get for his fur. Yaroslav didn't hesitate, and bought Woody out.

During his first days with Yaroslav, Woody was hesitant and didn't want to come into contact with any person. Poor guy must've been very stressed by the quick shift of his surroundings. But after a week or so, Yaroslav found a common language with Woody, and they started to become friends. The fox spent his first month in Yaroslav's home due to quarantine, since foxes may carry diseases.
After a while, Yaroslav built a special kennel for Woody to spend his time outdoors. Woody, being the mischievous fox that he is, burrowed many tunnels and got out from time to time. But Yaroslav stressed that Woody can't sustain himself and live in the woods, since he hadn't learned all of the crucial skills due to having lived on a fur farm in his formative months.
Now, Woody is well-fed and happy with his life. He eats only natural products like meat, cottage cheese, fruits, and vegetables. His favorite food is a fruit called persimmon. It's important to stress how surprising it is that a fox found a happy life while being domesticated, since they're not exactly domestic animals in any shape or form. Yaroslav says it's not as simple as it looks. He says that it's like owning a disobedient cat and a dog all in one. In any case, Woody and the internet thank him for giving the fox a new life.
WHY IS FUR STILL LEGALLY "PRODUCED" IN THIS WORLD????? I get it when we didn't have synthetics but, my God, it's the 21st century! OUTLAW FUR EVERYWHERE!!!!!!
How could anyone want to kill this baby for something stupid like fashion? (Not that fashion is always stupid but fur is a nope.)
Its the stare. Foxes eyes look closer to humans but you see them most times nearly squinting.

Foxes are very beautiful, but I'm glad the owner points out that they are not recommended as pets. Sure, foxes like Woody can't be returned to the wild, and being a pet is better than being killed for fur, but sharing cute photos like this online only encourages people to start wanting them as pets. Once the demand is there, foxes will be bred or trapped to supply the market, often with sad consequences. Cute otters on the internet have lead to a rise in demand for pet otters. Most pet otters are wild-born, captured as cubs with their parents killed. The rest come from the otter equivalent of puppy mills, bred from animals kept in poor conditions, just to churn out litter after litter of pups. Neither foxes, not otters, are suitable as pets, especially as indoor pets.
You are right. I'm so tired of these "hedgehog, fox...i had to take care about is now a pet" trend. It's sick! I was downvoted a lot for saying the same things here years ago, as a behavior scientist, it's an improvement, you got upvotes. Maybe it's changing.
Ugh. Can't you just enjoy the lovely photos of a beautiful animal?
How can you just enjoy those lovely photos of a beautiful animal knowing that there are so many beautiful animals being heinously tortured and painfully killed on fur farms????? Please speak out against animal abuse, never ever buy fur.
I was about to say 61 pictures was to much but then i saw the fox and fell in love ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Red lol
Can BP please stop promoting russians or any people buying wild animals and keeping them as pets and using them to boost their Instagram?! Yeah, this one didnt get killed. How about the others? How about engaging and investing in animal rights instead? Now people go Like "oh, so cuuuuute, i want one, too!"Probably the same wearing fur.
I get ypur point that seeing these posts might influence some people to want a pet fox (which they probably won''t ultimately get, once they learn more about what's involved).. At the same time,, it might influence a lot MORE people to understand that foxes are beautiful, intelligent animals with personalities and feelings, and we shouldn't be supporting industries that raise and kill them for their fur. So there's an upside to those posts too.

LOL Vanessa Lapato, i can picture you with your raccon dog fur labeled (fake fur) on the hoodie. But you didn't know because it was not on the label... OK. Denise is right, i'm not vegan i have a rabbit hat and a rabbit friend, my late rabbit friend was 12 when it was the time. Don't be a hypocrit. I'm not!
Denise Melek i wear rabbit fur without a problem, i would wear my grandmothers furs without any problem. I WON'T BUY IT. In USA for example half a cow is wasted, i live in France and i buy tongue, leavers, heart, kidneys... A cow is not steak, if you are not confortable with it go vegan. As a non vegan i know that every part of an animal should be used, and the animal should have lived the best life, and the best death. It is so simple yet true
The rabbits wore their fur without a problem too, and since it was given to them by He who created everything that lives, they had more of a right to wear it than either you or your grandmother do...
For a solitary wild animal that can't survive on its own, a responsible, patient and knowledgeable owner (and specialized vet nearby) can be a good option. Social animals (such as chimpanzees) would generally manage better in a group setting, such as a sanctuary.
They seem to have a loving bond. Beautiful to see the human take such good care of his charge.
cassiushumanmother, you are so comfortable wearing fur, using everything - not wasting half a cow, one million of them every single hour; for unconscionable suffering of animals, destruction of our planet, and demise of humanity. - "Nothing will benefit health or increase chances of survival on this earth as the evolution to a vegetarian diet." - Albert Einstein --- "As long as man continues to be the ruthless destroyer of lower living beings, he will NEVER know HEALTH or PEACE. For as long as men massacre animals they WILL kill each other. Indeed, he who sows the seed of murder and pain CANNOT reap love and joy." - Pythagoras (570 -480 BC/BCE) Greek mathematician & philosopher. The problem is that men vastly reproduce before they kill themselves and each other, so it will take a "while" before they destroy our planet completely - human arrogance, ignorance, and apathy, don't ever blame animals for your own self destruction, all those deadly diseases, bacteria, viruses.
Those people that slaughter all these beautiful animals for fur, they are no different than the people who are eating dog, cat, bat, dolphin, whale, and elephant, rhino for their horns and tusks, different countries do different shyt, and these so called human ain't shyt!!!
Here's the thing if you live in the UK you can campaign against the badger cull, destructive of woodlands/natural habitats, cruel sports, grouse/foxes/etc,etc, if you live in Vietnam or South Korea you can campaign against the meat trade in cats & dogs, if you live in South Africa you can campaign against canned hunting or rhino poaching and if you are an Earthling you can campaign against anything, anywhere on planet Earth, whatever captures your heart the most, there is no need to keep comparing one cause against another, no one is ever going to agree on which cause is the most deserving.
I don't understand why CatScratchFever's comment was down-voted. You can fight against those who perpetrate cruelty to animals, but a few do. Just like everything else, apathy must be built from the foundation up. If humans have no feelings for animals, they have no feelings for each other. The link between animal cruelty and violence against humans is undeniable. This is why people are trying to exterminate each other from the dawn of humanity.
It is beyond my understanding how anyone can exploit these creatures.
Cuddos
I love foxes!💓
God bless you for your compassion in saving this beautiful creature. All life is a miracle which deserves admiration and respect. I pray for the souls of those who could not be saved...
But they could be saved if only "good" people cared and would fight animal cruelty and destruction of our planet. Praying will do nothing for our planet, suffering animals, and us.
Did Woody get fixed? Does he respond to dogs as friends or foes? He's very beautiful.
So wholesome, love it!
I wonder if they're more like a dog? a cat? in between? their own thing?
Cat software, dog hardware.
Thanks!
I CALL HIM
It reminds me of my dogs.
Fur is worn by beautiful animals and ugly people. Farming animals under poor conditions are awful, I don't say we should stop eating meat or having animals but we must stop exploiting them and take better care of them. Let them live a more natural life according to their instincts and when the time comes let them die without fear and pain. Stop buying fur, stop buying products that harm our world, and show more respect for our nature or we will be extinct as well in a few decades.
Who the hell even wears fur anymore? Most people can't afford it it and rich people usually don't have to worry about getting cold. There's gotta be a more humane way to be ostentatious.
People in Russia wear furs, there are furs sold on the street markets, sold in shops, go onto ebay and you will see fur for sale, fur is sold in UK Harvey Niks sells it, look up caft.org.uk they campaign against commercial fur farming and fur fashion.
.... and that is why people in Russia live in harmonious democracy.
Fur Farmed Animals are not wild, they are semi-domesticated. They have been bred for many generations for the quality and coloration of their fur. About 60 years Dmitri K. Belyaev, a Russian scientist, used fur farm foxes to mimic the domestication process of dogs. He was somewhat successful, but only because there had already been multiple generations of selective breeding of the foxes.
Woody looks pretty much like any other fox I've ever seen in the wild, and I've seen a few in my time...
A lot of them do. Its more about the quality of the fur, not so much the color.
I'm a scientist of behavior (ethologist) you are so wrong. Go get a degree if you are such a "specialist". Puke puke puke puke, puke, puke , and puke and puke
I doubt you are. It is a famous experiment.
...... it's about quality of despicable sub-human cruelty.
Thanks I have two degrees (undergrad and graduate) in animal sciences.

this is wonderful. love it!
IDK but all super adorable
If it wasnt for a small apartment and ...distinctive smell, I'd love to get myself a rescue fox
.... for the sake of who or what, Michal????
