We often hear about the biggest animals that would easily tower over humans twice, thrice, and some even ten times. But how big, exactly, are they?

Let’s take the blue whale, which is known as one of the largest animals ever to exist. Imagine: the largest ever measured 110 feet long. If that doesn’t ring a bell just yet, think of it as longer than 2 packed school buses that seat 40 people each. It’s also longer than 18 grown men of 6 feet laid head to toe with each other.

If your head is spinning, right down below is a collection of animal photos that put their size into perspective and do the "just imagine" part for us. From very large Maine coons to gigantic Siberian tigers, these are the big boys and girls of the animal kingdom.

Yup. Had to have. The average Clyd is 17-18 hands at the withers. The tallest horse known right now is 20 hands 2.75 inches. This is either photoshopped or she is about 4'6"

First they find the largest Clydesdales they can, then the littlest person they can find. Shires are the largest horse breed in the world.

Yes, I tend to agree with you.... I've seen many Clydesdales, and while they are huge they are not as large as in comparison with this human..... I think some 'tinkering' has been done here . . . .

In order to get the accurate picture, we should probably know how tall she is. If she's 5'10", the size of those horses are impressive. If she's 4'11", not so much.

I hope from the bottom of my heart horseriding or horses used for human benefit will be illegal and egknowledged to be animal cruelty in a few years. Yes, they are stunning, but I always question why there isn t anybody wondering about the mental healthbeing of these animals. luckely in my country there are some serious debats going on since 2018..you should take a minute and look how horses are constantly dominated to walk a certain walk , jump a certain jump, and all of this with painfull tools between their jaws that pull and make them do trucks and just listen to commands..Crazy how blind people have become. They're just like; oohw look at that beautiful animal. Nohing more. People think they can do whatever they like with an animal as long as he's taking 'good' care..well its not, they don't like being your slave . Beautifull animals, ugly people

You make a good point and for the most part I agree, however you do realize it’s not that simple. There are hardly any truly wild horses anymore and you can’t just reintroduce them to the wild because they’re so used to humans. Not to mention the fact that if we didn’t breed them they would simply die out. Also in most places around the world horse shows, while impressive, is frowned upon, similar to the way circuses are. But all in all, I get your point

More push, as they have a straight shoulder. Most people don't know that the Heavy Hunter is more like the horse the Medieval knights rode. Per the research.

Adult male Clydesdales measure 17 to 19 hands (1.7-1.9 m or 5.7-6.3 ft.) . A male's average weight is between 771 to 998 kg (1,700-2,200 lb.). Adult females measure 16 to 18 hands (1.6-1.7 m or 5.3-5.7 ft.). A female averages 680 to 771 kg (1,500-2,000 lb.).

Height for a horse is measured to the shoulder though isn't it? Not to the topof the head like humans. Makes a big difference.

Well I believe, and I’m only guessing because of when I see people who race horses, they’re usually really really small to keep the weight down on the horse to make them ride faster? But I’m almost guessing this is probably a very small human. Regardless, even if the human was the entire foot taller? The horses would still be gigantic next to them.

Clydesdale are my favorite horses every and I'm fond of all sorts of draft horses. When I was a teenager, we lived in a rural area and my bus stop was across a country road from a huge horse pasture that housed a few big draft horses. Every morning, while I waited for the bus, they would come up to the fence and wait with me. I was so sad when I came back from college to find the pasture had become a neighborhood.

This picture is messing with your mind, Clydesdales are 1,80max tall (less than 6 feet) and 1000kg max (2200lbs). For example the french Percheron is more than 6 feet tall and weight up to 1200kg (2650lbs). The english Shire horse (no, it's not an hobbit horse) is bigger too. 5cde46cd36...8bcccb.jpg 5cde46cd360f8image-5f201318bcccb.jpg

An Adult Ocean Sunfish Compared To Them At Birth

An Adult Ocean Sunfish Compared To Them At Birth

Amy Coghlan Report

We usually imagine felines as cute little furballs who, no matter how fast they grow up, still fit into our lap just fine. But there’s one cat breed known as the Maine coon that can easily reach up to 40 inches. In comparison, the average size of an adult domestic cat comes in at as little as 8 to 10 inches.

In order to find out more about the scale of these massive felines, Bored Panda reached out to Jess Beckwith, a professional Maine coon breeder based in the United Kingdom from RudyCats.co.uk. Jess told us that Maine coons are referred to “as the dogs of the cat world, not only because of their incredible personalities, but also because of their size.”

They’re the biggest domestic cats and can range from 11 to 33 pounds when fully grown. Two of Jess’s “young neutered boys currently hit the scales at around 21 pounds.” Meanwhile, the largest Maine coon is named Barivel and he measures a whopping 3 feet and 11.2 inches from head to tail tip. That makes him longer than a baseball bat.

However impressive the scale of Maine coons may be, it’s not the most important feature when it comes to exhibitions. Jess said that “good bone structure, features, and the ‘not too extreme’ look is best, as well as temperament and health, of course,” are more important for winning a title in the big game.

This big boy who resembles an oversized guinea pig is, in fact, a nocturnal marsupial known as a wombat (Vombatus ursinus). Patrick has stolen people's hearts by being both incredibly cute and gigantic. Weighing 84 pounds, he is one of the largest (and oldest) wombats ever to have lived.

Only quite recently, a new, wombat-like species was discovered in Australia called Makupirna nambensis, which literally translates to “big bones” in the aboriginal language. The creature’s remains are now one of the oldest fossils found in the area, thought to date back to 25 million years ago. This boy could have weighed 330 pounds, which is more than five adult wombats living today.

Yet, Makupirna is still not the biggest. The absolute record-breaking wombat-like creature was called Diprotodon and it weighed over two tons. This powerful beast could have lived until 11,700 years ago.
