We often hear about the biggest animals that would easily tower over humans twice, thrice, and some even ten times. But how big, exactly, are they?
Let’s take the blue whale, which is known as one of the largest animals ever to exist. Imagine: the largest ever measured 110 feet long. If that doesn’t ring a bell just yet, think of it as longer than 2 packed school buses that seat 40 people each. It’s also longer than 18 grown men of 6 feet laid head to toe with each other.
If your head is spinning, right down below is a collection of animal photos that put their size into perspective and do the "just imagine" part for us. From very large Maine coons to gigantic Siberian tigers, these are the big boys and girls of the animal kingdom.

I Never Knew What Absolute U N I T S Clydesdales Are Until I Saw This Picture
Yup. Had to have. The average Clyd is 17-18 hands at the withers. The tallest horse known right now is 20 hands 2.75 inches. This is either photoshopped or she is about 4'6"
Load More Replies...First they find the largest Clydesdales they can, then the littlest person they can find. Shires are the largest horse breed in the world.
Yes, I tend to agree with you.... I've seen many Clydesdales, and while they are huge they are not as large as in comparison with this human..... I think some 'tinkering' has been done here . . . .
Load More Replies...Did you know that there are only about 5,000 Clydesdales left in the world? :(
These are ponies. The lady standing with them is unusually short.
In order to get the accurate picture, we should probably know how tall she is. If she's 5'10", the size of those horses are impressive. If she's 4'11", not so much.
I thought the same thing. She could be a short woman.
Load More Replies...I just googled the average height for Clydesdales and it came up as 6 feet. Are these guys huge or is the person super short?
I hope from the bottom of my heart horseriding or horses used for human benefit will be illegal and egknowledged to be animal cruelty in a few years. Yes, they are stunning, but I always question why there isn t anybody wondering about the mental healthbeing of these animals. luckely in my country there are some serious debats going on since 2018..you should take a minute and look how horses are constantly dominated to walk a certain walk , jump a certain jump, and all of this with painfull tools between their jaws that pull and make them do trucks and just listen to commands..Crazy how blind people have become. They're just like; oohw look at that beautiful animal. Nohing more. People think they can do whatever they like with an animal as long as he's taking 'good' care..well its not, they don't like being your slave . Beautifull animals, ugly people
You make a good point and for the most part I agree, however you do realize it’s not that simple. There are hardly any truly wild horses anymore and you can’t just reintroduce them to the wild because they’re so used to humans. Not to mention the fact that if we didn’t breed them they would simply die out. Also in most places around the world horse shows, while impressive, is frowned upon, similar to the way circuses are. But all in all, I get your point
Load More Replies...Draught horses were bred to draw and carry....that why they big ;)
More push, as they have a straight shoulder. Most people don't know that the Heavy Hunter is more like the horse the Medieval knights rode. Per the research.
Load More Replies...Clydesdales are, on average, 6 feet tall. Either this lady is about 3 1/2 feet tall OR this is photoshopped.
I agree....... this picture is not completely accurate !
Load More Replies...sooooo cooooool!!!! Clydes are my very favorite horses. next up would be the Fantastic Frisian.
I'm certain it isn't.....These horses are huge , but not THAT much !
Load More Replies...Adult male Clydesdales measure 17 to 19 hands (1.7-1.9 m or 5.7-6.3 ft.) . A male's average weight is between 771 to 998 kg (1,700-2,200 lb.). Adult females measure 16 to 18 hands (1.6-1.7 m or 5.3-5.7 ft.). A female averages 680 to 771 kg (1,500-2,000 lb.).
Height for a horse is measured to the shoulder though isn't it? Not to the topof the head like humans. Makes a big difference.
Load More Replies...Well I believe, and I’m only guessing because of when I see people who race horses, they’re usually really really small to keep the weight down on the horse to make them ride faster? But I’m almost guessing this is probably a very small human. Regardless, even if the human was the entire foot taller? The horses would still be gigantic next to them.
Seriously, this really looks photoshopped because it looks like she could fit a hand in their nostril and that can't be right.
somehow I think this is shopped. Clydesdales are huge but perhaps that lady is tiny. Just my 2 cents
People believe that early breeds of these were those that carried fully armored knights into combat, and that the horses themselves were also armored.
So beautiful 🥰 would love one of these, but would need giant stables!
This would have been even better if they'd have published the person's height. She looks like a tiny little girl.
I have petted the Budweiser Clydesdales at the state fair and they are indeed huge. However this woman is likely small.
So I was born and raised in Texas. I was blessed to be able to see and interact with the Budweiser Clydesdales on many occasions. I was raised around horses, had at least 8 at all times. But as a little girl standing next to these giants, I was like a fairy tale
One Winter night when I lived in a farm town, a man knocked on the door to say some Belgians had escaped and were in my back yard. Belgians? He meant giant Horses. Huge Horses. After my long grasses poking through the snow..
Yeah they can get big.... but those fellas seem exceptional, or that woman is short. Probably both. xP
They are beautiful !! I used to "ride" Clydesdales when I was 4 in 1945 and they were genuinely working. The best feeling.....
I knew as I often go to country fairs and always go see the horses... Beautiful!!
No kidding, I live in St Louis and the first time I went to see the Budweiser Clydesdales my little kid mind was blown 🤯
First time I saw them was after 2 hours in Budweiser Beer Pavilion at Seaworld.
I saw them close enough to touch and they are breath taking! I'm five feet tall and didn't reach the top of their legs.
It would be nice to know whether she's 4'8 or 5'6. Not knowing her height make scale somewhat irrelevant.
Clydesdale are my favorite horses every and I'm fond of all sorts of draft horses. When I was a teenager, we lived in a rural area and my bus stop was across a country road from a huge horse pasture that housed a few big draft horses. Every morning, while I waited for the bus, they would come up to the fence and wait with me. I was so sad when I came back from college to find the pasture had become a neighborhood.
I have seen them in person. They are not as big as they appear in this photo. Either the picture is taken to look that way or she is really small.
big horses but i think the woman is small so the picture is more impressive than reality actually is.
Average Clydesdale is about 6 feet, they can be larger - but I'd question the height of the person in this photo.
I think the woman isn't very tall... but they are still formidable creatures!
In St. Louis, Grant's Farm breeds these beautiful animals. And they are big all over, if you get my drift...we were there with my grandmother one time and she hollered at my uncle to take her picture in front of the stall, not noticing the...ahem...appendage of the horse behind her! LOL
I knew that they were big, but I didn't know that they were that big.
They look like they should run free in the wild instead of harnessed for our use.
They wouldn't exist if humans hadn't bred them.
Load More Replies...Yeah. I learned that a month ago at my friends horse barn. We were gonna race em but then I got too scared.
With some friends we did an horseception with Boulonnais (aka white marble colossus) 20190915_1...00353f.jpg
This picture is messing with your mind, Clydesdales are 1,80max tall (less than 6 feet) and 1000kg max (2200lbs). For example the french Percheron is more than 6 feet tall and weight up to 1200kg (2650lbs). The english Shire horse (no, it's not an hobbit horse) is bigger too. 5cde46cd36...8bcccb.jpg
This is a Percheron S33-FP27-5...c15d2b.jpg
Load More Replies...Of course if the height of this woman would also be known then you can get the idea. That woman could be 4'9"
Misleading pic, these horses stand 5.7-6.3 ft. This pic is with a very small person to create an illusion.
She is petite - but yes the angle of the photo makes it look a bit wired :)

An Adult Ocean Sunfish Compared To Them At Birth
We usually imagine felines as cute little furballs who, no matter how fast they grow up, still fit into our lap just fine. But there’s one cat breed known as the Maine coon that can easily reach up to 40 inches. In comparison, the average size of an adult domestic cat comes in at as little as 8 to 10 inches.
In order to find out more about the scale of these massive felines, Bored Panda reached out to Jess Beckwith, a professional Maine coon breeder based in the United Kingdom from RudyCats.co.uk. Jess told us that Maine coons are referred to “as the dogs of the cat world, not only because of their incredible personalities, but also because of their size.”
They’re the biggest domestic cats and can range from 11 to 33 pounds when fully grown. Two of Jess’s “young neutered boys currently hit the scales at around 21 pounds.” Meanwhile, the largest Maine coon is named Barivel and he measures a whopping 3 feet and 11.2 inches from head to tail tip. That makes him longer than a baseball bat.
However impressive the scale of Maine coons may be, it’s not the most important feature when it comes to exhibitions. Jess said that “good bone structure, features, and the ‘not too extreme’ look is best, as well as temperament and health, of course,” are more important for winning a title in the big game.
Meet Patrick, The World’s Oldest And Largest Wombat
Giant African Land Snail
This big boy who resembles an oversized guinea pig is, in fact, a nocturnal marsupial known as a wombat (Vombatus ursinus). Patrick has stolen people's hearts by being both incredibly cute and gigantic. Weighing 84 pounds, he is one of the largest (and oldest) wombats ever to have lived.
Only quite recently, a new, wombat-like species was discovered in Australia called Makupirna nambensis, which literally translates to “big bones” in the aboriginal language. The creature’s remains are now one of the oldest fossils found in the area, thought to date back to 25 million years ago. This boy could have weighed 330 pounds, which is more than five adult wombats living today.
Yet, Makupirna is still not the biggest. The absolute record-breaking wombat-like creature was called Diprotodon and it weighed over two tons. This powerful beast could have lived until 11,700 years ago.

What are you basing that on? Most of the animals are still very much alive and many of them are being helped by the humans in the pictures.

Agreed 100% While there is some benefit to controlled hunting of certain animal species in certain areas, and at specific times...Trophy hunting is barbaric and elitist. Thankfully, photo safari's are becoming the norm. Also, shooting something with a camera and getting a good photo is much harder than killing something with a gun. It challenges and requires the same skills, too.

Here is one of the basic problems with people today, they assume everything without seeking out the information first. None of these pictures contained trophy kills! Most of the dead animals could have been killed by other animals not just humans. And here is the biggest one: People STILL EAT MEAT! Just because you are a vegan/vegetarian does not mean that everyone is as well. It was YOUR CHOICE to live that lifestyle, I didn't choose that for you. So don't sit there on your fake throne and try to tell everyone else how to live their lives. If we eat meat, then just move a long with your condescending b******t!
This, basically; I'm guessing some of the actual dead ones also died of natural causes.

It's a bit disturbing at how many comments on "so sad" or "hope it wasn't hunted" there are. My people have hunted and used animal parts for food, clothing, etc for thousands of years. [I'm Mayan] I'm not about to end my people's traditions because of a few sensitive sallies. Only difference is today, I use modern tools for hunting. The thing that has remained the same? Honouring and thanking the animal who died in order to feed and clothe me and my family.
i'm sad that the murray cod wasn't on this list, they are an aussie icon and the grow up to 2 metres!
Didn't know this site has so many PETA members. You all are aware that it is legally and morally ok to kill and eat animals, right? People have been doing it for quite some time now.
Believe me, a lot of them are NOT PETA members. PETA's reputation is not that great. Even though I share your viewpoint on animals, it's more a matter of practicality and realizing pollution, loss of habitat, etc is worse. Really, non-trophy-only hunting is the least evil that humans do, still hate seeing them dead. I could only hunt or even fish in a case of extreme necessity. Don't make assumptions.
