What is the source of the most amazing facts? No, it's not historical events, and neither is the human body - it's our mother nature. With so many components like animals and plants comprising it, the weird facts are plenty. In this post we'd like to show you some of the most unusual facts about animals, so be sure to remember at least one of them, just for a right to brag about your knowledge.
Believe it or not, the biggest mammal in the animal kingdom, the blue whale can make a fart bubble so big that a horse could fit inside it (although we're pretty sure that wouldn't be very nice for the horse). Also, we bet you didn't know the unbelievable fact that a female wallaby while running from a predator, will toss her joey from her pouch to reduce her weight as well as to give her pursuer something to snack on. And did you know that an armadillo's armor is so thick that a bullet once bounced off it and hit the person who fired it? Scroll down for more weird and wonderful animal facts. They come from a website called Weird Nature and you're sure to learn a thing or two you didn't know before. Don't forget to vote for your favorite piece of animal trivia!

Load More Replies...In French, it's called 'Dinde', which is derived from 'D'Inde' which means 'From India'
In Czech, we have krocan (male) and krůta (female). Nothing to do with the origin, but it goes from their gargling (krkrkrkrkr...)
In Norwegian it's called Kalkun which literally makes no sense but oh well
In Scandinavian languages the word derives from 'kalikut-hönen', ~ India chicken. In Finnish it's 'kalkkuna', loan from that
Load More Replies...In Mexico it's called Guajolote.....There. That's another thing you know now.
"Dinde" in France ("from India"). We should creat a club with Turkey ;p
Hahaha I always wanted to say this to English native speakers as a Turkish
Turkies actually came from North America, the English thought they were the same bird species as on found in Turkey therefore naming it after the country
Load More Replies...Fairly sure turkeys originally came from Mexico but correct me if I am wrong
Turkeys are native to Southern Mexico though they have spread as far north as Canada (it's common to see wild turkeys while hiking in the San Francisco bay area in California). They were first domesticated by the Mayans.
Another tidbit that would have been nice is the correct information about the origin.
And it is called Truthahn in German, but we eat mostly the domesticated version called Pute and lots of people don‘t know that these two are basically the same thing.
All I know is that in America don't p**s one off! Those things are scary mad and fast!
Nowhere in India its called "Peru". It's called "Turkey". In Bengali/Bangla it's called Chine Chicken
Actually I’m pretty sure I’m Turkish a turkey is called Hindi
Actually it is called "Hindi" in Turkish and this word's origin is arabic. There is a big resemblance with "Hindistan" which means India but it doesn't have the same meaning ;)
in parts of the Arab world, it's called "habach", which refers to Ethiopia. so "Ethiopian chicken"
The pea fowl male is beautiful and brightly colored. The female is shades of brown and tan. Often associated with the Ottoman Empire (Turkish). Early European colonizers saw a wild bird of about the same size, with a large fan of tail feathers, thought it was related to the peacock, and called it the "Turkey bird". The N American bird should be called the America bird, or the Franklin bird, or a great descriptive name like Schnuddelhong.
I know its a Wiki list but still fascinating. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_names_for_turkeys

According to a Native American legend, they used to be besties, but looked very drab. So the crow came up with the idea of painting each other's feathers. The crow was very artistic and wanted to do a good job, so he took a very long time to paint all the patterns you can see on owls today. On the other hand, the owl was very impatient and in order to save time, just dumped the paint on his friend. From then on, they've become mortal enemies. In order to save his skin, the lazy owl decided to avoid his former friend. And thus owls became nocturnal and crows remained diurnal.
