Earth is no stranger to crazy things. I mean, it’s inhabited by humans, the most bizarre creatures ever, despite how normal we may look! Humans remain mysterious, even though we’ve been studying ourselves and the world for thousands of years.

And it’s not like we haven’t made any progress or found out tons of interesting facts about our planet, of course. It’s just that there are too many things to dive into and explore! Like, did you know that vending machines kill more people than sharks? Or that men have a 1 in 200 chance of being related to Genghis Khan? Or again, that the longest interval between the birth of twins is 87 days?

Yeah, there’s a lot of stuff going on around the globe, and here at Bored Panda we have a weird obsession for learning about insane coincidences and random events happening in this cool, cool world. If you’re like us, you’ll be mesmerized by the amazing facts we’ve collected on this list! Go on, read them and let your brain get tickled for good.

Uranus was discovered in 1781, but it’s orbit didn’t make sense, so they started looking for another planet. Neptune was found in 1846, it’s approximate location predicted ahead of time. Fun fact! At the time Neptune was discovered, asteroids Ceres (1801) and Pallas (1802) were considered planets, and were only demoted as the real nature of the asteroid belt because apparent. Pluto is not the first to get the boot.

The reason I don't play the lottery is that you have the same chance of your numbers coming out as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. I just stick to the Women's Institute tombola these days. I'm up by 1 tin of pilchards, an out-of-date box of chocolates and a pair of mens size 16 slippers, which were kindly donated by Pickles, the local clown.

Nope that math don't work. In most countries there are several lotteries a week, often multiplied by different states or regions all having additional localised lotteries weekly etc. If you add up the number of presidents in countries who have President, only a portion of total world countries and take note that AT BEST you can average a president changeover every couple of years, there will be a lot less total number of presidents in the world ever than there have been lottery winners.

If you went by the USA only, there have been only 46 presidents in its entire history. The have been thousands of state and national lottery winners.

How many times in every four years do the hold the lottery? And how many tickets can you buy for each run? Also, and most persuasively, since the introduction of the lottery, how many people have won lottery jackpots, and how many people have become president? B******t statement.

Actually, it technically works in NZ if you assume your chances of being PM are 1 in 5 million (population) and the chances of winning lotto's jackpot are 1 in 36 million

Oh, allowing for lottery draws between elections, your chances are 312 in 36 million...of course elections aren't random and not everyone in the country is over 18. TLDR: Spend your lottery money on something you enjoy 😉

Ah hah, president of what though. Cheese society? Guild of wonderful Johns? Does the maths work I wonder? Not convinced. US president, one in 300 million, every 4 years. Powerball one in 300 million, every week. Can buy multiple tickets to infinitesimally increase odds. Easy to go and buy a ticket. Quite hard to idly pop into politics, get backed, succeed. That said, if you are "born into the purple" (rich, connected family) your odds probably are better than lottery.
