Professional Photographer Captures Perfectly Posed Birds, And Here Are The Best 58 Photos
Professional photographer Leila Jeffreys is quite well known in the world of bird photography, as she takes amazing and intricate photos of birds close up as we’ve never seen before. The Sydney-based photographer began her journey over a decade ago and never stopped. She is most well known for her photo series called “High Society.”
As a child, Jeffreys was taught by her father how to rescue birds and took bird-focused nursing classes, an experience that resulted in a deep understanding of wildlife and helped her take these incredible photos. Her elegant photographs of owls, eagles, cockatiels, and even colorful doves seem to capture the essence of each animal's personality, portraying many of them with surprisingly human characteristics.

I love how the feather colors don’t gradually change from one to the next but come in nice big blocks!
Golden Eagle...found in countries all over the world, unlike most birds, which tend to be regional.
FUN FACT: There are no structurally blue feathers...the blue comes from reflective light hitting the otherwise gray feather.
This is a type of Southeast Asian oriole, but I no longer remember which one. They’re really common in Malaysia and southern Thailand
FUN FACT: Owls’ eyes are fixed in place, which is why they can turn their heads 280° to either side.
🦅I'm guessing Kestrel 🤔 a type of falcon that eats small mammals, lizards and large insects 🐀🐦🐿🐍🦎🪳🦗🪲🪱
Purple Ground Dove, found in Papua/New Guinea and the Solomon Islands
🐧🐧Puffins (auks) aren't considered strictly monogamous but rarely change partners and tend to return to their same nest each year🐣🐣🐣
🦅Hawks have "fingers" on their wingtips and Falcons have slender, pointed wings. It's the easiest way to tell them apart🦅
🕊I wonder if this is one of the pigeons that Sher Singh guy was dyeing pink? (Don't worry, the idiot promised to stop.)🕊
🕊Pigeons, doves, rock pigeons and rock doves are all the same thing. Some people differentiate them by size, but scientifically they are the same species🕊
Once upon a time, there was a little egg about to hatch... Already asleep? Sweet dreams.
This is a very handsome male, you can tell by the blue cere (skin around nostrils, blue or lavender = male & female = white to brown... after 1yr old).
Ornithology is my favorite thing in the world. My number 1 hobby. The last few years has been difficult and the birds have always helped but I haven't gone to seek them out lately. I haven't gone over my books like I usually do... this portfolio of photographs has rekindled that fire in me, the passion I have for birds is ever lasting. Such beautiful photos by this woman. I'm so happy to have gotten to view them.
These photos were exceptional. I came here to upvote my new fav birb, the peregrine falcon, and while I enjoyed seeing all the beautiful raptors, I didn't recognize any peregrines. Still, I was not disappointed!
🧞♂️Your wish is our command🧞♂️ (Mary Rose, Nicole & I have been working on it.)
Load More Replies...I love all of these, astounding pictures, good job! Birds have a special spot in my heart, I have had many bird pets (cockatiels, a lovebird and canaries) and every single one had a different personality. Nowadays I have a lovebird who is a little rascal and every day comes up with a new mischief, but he is super affectionated and loves kisses and being petted. I also have two cockatiels, the three of them are free to fly around the living room for many hours a day, but they go to sleep in their cage at night. I had a cockatiel that loved me a lot (and I loved her) and would wake me up from naps with kisses, I miss her so much, she was very special. For me they are family.
Some of the birds you pictured are endanegered, by the way, i love the birdies even though i can never see them in real life, i will always love the species that live in my country.
I would kill for some pigeons. I love them. Wish they would move in and push the doves out.
Technically pigeons are a subspecies of dove if I remember my avian biology correctly.
Load More Replies...I was looking at these with my bird (12M sun conure) and he kept looking at them amazed. He did seem a bit sad after he didnt see another sun conure though....Me and him both approve 😁🌮✨️🤣
BTW if anyone was wondering his name is taco 🌮 that is why I put a taco emoji 😁
