You Can Now Buy A ‘Half Christmas Tree’ If You Hate Decorating The Back And Want To Save Space
Yeah, yeah, we know, Christmas isn’t for another two and a half months and talking about it too early tends to make people angry about it, but why not get a good head start on what you could be doing for this year?
Now, every year, you probably want a huge Christmas tree, but have never really been able to fit one into your home, right? Well, as it turns out, there’s this thing called the half Christmas tree which is exactly what you’re thinking—it is literally a Christmas tree that is vertically sawed in half to save space.
Turns out, there are ‘half’ Christmas trees that saves space and you don’t have to decorate the back

So, Hammacher Schlemmer, an American retailer and catalog company, is now offering the Against-The-Wall Christmas Tree, or easier put, a half Christmas tree, for purchase from their online store.
As the description states, it is a semi-round Christmas tree that is designed to rest against a wall. The tree is specifically designed to be used in smaller living spaces where a full-sized tree may turn out to be impractical.
The idea is that the half Christmas tree leans on the wall that it is placed at

Besides the size, this also solves another issue that some of us lazy decorators have—decorating the back. If there is no back side on a tree, there is nothing to decorate. Plain and simple!
Speaking of decorating, the artificial PVC and PE Christmas tree (822 branches and tips) is mostly already decorated as it comes pre-strung with multi-color or warm white LEDs depending on which type you pick. The LEDs are rated for 25,000 hours of work with a total of 350 lights per tree.
To make things even more lazy, it comes with 350 pre-strung LED lights rated to work 25k hours

The tree measures at 78 inches in height by 43 inches in width and 22 inches in depth (198 by 109 by 56 centimeters), weighing in at around 30 pounds (or 13.6 kilograms). Yes, there is room for presents under the tree.
While the tree is made to be leaned against a wall, nobody’s really stopping you from hanging it on the wall. Or from placing it on the wall upside down. Or doing that Portal-inspired thing where you get two halves and place them in separate locations, making it look like they’re warping through a portal. But if you get two halves, that’s no longer saving space!
The 6.5-feet-high ‘half’ tree is distributed by the American retailer Hammacher Schlemmer,

People can buy the against-the-wall Christmas tree on Hammacher Schlemmer’s website for $249.95 and, according to their website, it’s duty-free if ordering to Canada, so there you go.
Now, there are also a number of other odd takes on the Christmas tree, as Target, for instance, offers a 7-foot Home Heritage corner Christmas tree that’s not a half, but a quarter of a full tree and leans on two corner walls.
It can be purchased from the Hammacher Schlemmer’s website for $249.95

There’s also a different kind of half tree where there’s half of it horizontally—the Argos Home 6-foot tree with a Christmas tree on top and just the trunk on the bottom half of the tree. This one provides more room for presents.
For some, coughing up 250 bucks on this didn’t seem like a good idea, but many thought that it is a very ingenious idea, especially if you have a small place. Others also suggested a bit of a life hack where you can take your regular artificial tree and either put up just one side of the branches or bend them from the back to the front, depending on which type you have.
Turns out, there’s also a ‘quarter’ or ‘corner’ tree that’s available in Target

And there’s also another kind of ‘half’ tree by Argos that’s half horizontally, not vertically

What are your thoughts on this? Would you consider using just half of a tree for Christmas this year? Let us know in the comment section below!
Here’s what people online had to say about this
Last year I bought half Christmas tree mistakenly. Was actually very decent, came with 200 LED lights and only cost £14 in Argos. This year I'll buy other half👊🏿😅
My dad used to do this with a chainsaw for the upstairs tree -- we put the tree in an alcove off the livingroom and a full tree blocked the walkway He spray painted over the sawed off branches "to hold in the moisture", which I guess worked since the tree lasted through the season. He should have patented it!
They last for decades. You can actually pick up used artificial trees at yard sales that are about 40 years old and still look fine once you decorate them.
Load More Replies...My mom's had 1 of these for close to 20 yrs but it's smaller so she can hang it up on the wall & it's out of the reach of the grandkids. I think she can fit about 10 ornaments on there. LOL
These have been around for years, at least since fake trees started looking more like real ones. When I was a kid, a friend of mine had one in their house. I’m 59 now, so we’re talking late sixties - early seventies.
Actually would invest in the small one with no branches at the bottom because we have cats and they love to new on everything.
I bought one of these over 20 years ago, well I thought I did, it turned out it was a whole tree. So somewhere there was someone who only got half a tree when they were expecting a whole one.
The look on their face! They probably laughed and maybe asked for partial rebate.

It’s only like $15 less, and that’s the sale price. They’re $300 not on sale. And no telling how they compare in terms of quality.

you can create a D.I.Y of this yourself by cutting a tree in half easy enough
Not to be rude or anything, but I think that's a very bad idea. It's kinds weird looking, especially when it doesn't touch the wall all the way.
for me, the back of the tree faces the window and i live on a corner so literally anyone who drives in that general direction can see the tree, so i still have to decorate back there lol.
the idea itself is also nice, and useful for those with little space but empty walls. For example, I only have pibrerie on the walls, I don't know where to put it. apart from that, do they realize that with that price you can buy at least ten normal plastic trees, even with LEDs in some cases, and open them only on one side, without having to pay them for just one half tree? a price truly beyond all logic
good idea, but that's a bit pricy for HALF a tree, especially since i see this being bought by people who live in apartments
This is good idea when Christmas tree is half good other half grown uneven. three sellers in Christmas time can do these ready for customers. cut bad branch away from other side, is normal that three grows uneven. That one to wht is pruned, great idea for real three, pruned part can be decorated by paper. Plastic trees cause plastic pollution member that. because is no trees for everybody branch gives smell and mood, branches are old tradition in may cultures for celebrations has been taken green branches inside house, before Christmas.
Last year I just organised the branches of my old tree like this, no need to make more plastic crap.
I have had 2 wall Christmas trees for years. They are about 3 feet in height, flat on the backs, and I just hang them on my walls in what ever room I choose.
These are great for commercial spaces as well, especially in areas with a lot of footfall. Someone should let Melania know, she'd have just half the job to do decorating. All she'd have to do is pluck out the branches, it would be right up her street.
In all the example pictures the half-tree is placed in a super big room 😂😂😂😂
This is not a new thing, they've been around for several years, generally marketed as a space saver. There's some that you can hang on your wall, sold as the kind of Christmas tree that your dog or cat can't knock down. Like these, they are just as expensive as the full size artificial trees.
That's so funny... A half tree and a quarter tree. I like the quarter tree personally- I hope it's a quarter of the price!
You can find real trees like that at most any cut your own farm. Not perfectly cut in half but bare on the back. I've been getting those for decades. Big, full, perfectly shaped front. Gives an illusion of grandeur.
I made a half Christmas tree, years ago, so it wouldn't take up too much space in my bar - started a craze locally for part-trees
Good idea. I have a large fake tree, so we just don't put a few of the rear branches in at the bottom where it's widest, so we can push it closer to the wall. I don't need to go to a half tree, but it's good to squidge it back a bit.
We have had a half tree for ten years, and it's been so successful that I bought a new one for last Christmas as the original was looking a little tired. Having it hung on the wall over my radiator (i have high ceilings as it's a 7 foot tree) stops the cat from climbing it and doesn't take up so much space. I love it and don't think I'd ever go back to a traditional tree.
