The Opposite Of Design Fails: 50 Of The Most Brilliant Design Ideas That People Have Ever Shared In This Online Group (New Pics)
Over the years, we at Bored Panda have released quite a few pieces on subpar design. And while these publications are incredibly fun to prepare and scroll through (just take a look at this one), we need to balance them out a little. After all, not every designer is an incompetent 3-year-old. Some of them are 4... light-years ahead of the competition.
There's a subreddit that features high-quality images of interesting designs, including architectural, graphic, industrial, furniture, and product design, and even though we already covered it once, there are so many gems on it, we need to do a follow-up. From a restaurant half-sunken into the sea to a suitcase that can measure its own weight, continue scrolling and check out the best that human ingenuity has to offer.

We, regular users, usually see just the finished product. But there's so much more that goes into actually creating them. To learn more about design, we contacted Nicole Phillips, who has been working in the design industry since 2005 and has a background in fine arts and advertising. Phillips specializes in logo design, branding, and package design for food & beverage, beauty, health, and interior design clients, and for each project, her work is unique and never linear.
"The design process requires research, experimentation, and even a bit of psychology," Phillips told Bored Panda. "When I feel frustrated with the process, I remind myself to take a step back, have fun and play. It's those moments of play and experimentation that usually create the best results, but it's those hours of research that help build the foundation for the final result."
"My clients are not paying me for my time, they are paying me for my many years of experience, so if I am able to complete the design process in 5 hours rather than 5 weeks, this is a sign of my years of experience and knowledge, this is valuable," she added.

Trying to determine whether or not a particular design is good, many turn to Dieter Rams and his '10 commandments.' According to Rams, good design is innovative, makes a product useful, is aesthetic, makes a product understandable, is unobtrusive, is honest, is long-lasting, is thorough down to the last detail, is environmentally friendly, and involves as little design as possible.
Nicole Phillips agrees with the German design legend.
"Good design includes a good balance of function, form, and fun," Phillips said. "The user shouldn't have to try too hard to get what they need from the design. Good design isn't just aesthetics, it should communicate well and push boundaries a bit. Good design solves problems."
To paraphrase Don Draper from Mad Men, it's simple but significant.

This is a great idea - and Kelvinator (I think) did something similar in the 1950s. The problem is that it takes up a HUGE amount of space in the kitchen. The doors need so much space that it's not very practical.

Well, technically this building only displays 5 colours of the rainbow 🌈 , and LGBTQ+ uses only 6 colours, The traditional spectrum taught in schools was always 7 colours, being red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet, but in reality the colours blend from to the next, and has for centuries been recognised as a symbol of hope. So perhaps there is no 'irony' as implied. I noticed that number of floors painted red is twice the number painted orange, And as alrray stated, there are no floors painted indigo/violet/purple, but curiously there are two shades of green. So be it. It's colourful. Who knows why they painted it so?

The colours of the rainbow are Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet. The colours of the LGBTQ flag are Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and Violet, so 6 colours instead of 7. The building is painted in a shade of red, 2 shades of orange, yellow, a shade of green, a shade of turquoise and a light blue shade. So not all primary colours like the rainbow and the flag. The colour scheme seems to have more to do with the representation of colours in art than either the rainbow or the flag.
But the number of stripes of the different colors vary. My OCD is complaining, not to mention my love of the symmetrical!
I thought this was a child's toy - build the bricks up in the right order.
How about you all below just agree it's not a FLAG. There. Everyone Calm down. I, personally, absolutely LOVE this multicolored building ! And I love Rainbows. All my grandchildren LOVE Rainbows. Why can't we all just go back to "being ok" with what other people like.???????

I think this is a beautiful building. Its unique! It does however remind me of the keystone test strips we used for my Dad along with his diabetes test strips bottles.

Theres a faucet at the Cheyenne mountain zoo hippo and penguin exhibit restrooms that are three in one, it's a horizontal faucet, one part dispenses water, the middle part dispenses soap, and the other is air dry
I saw quite a few 2 in 1 recently in the airport, shaped a bit like airplane: middle part provides water, and the side parts work as air dry. There is no rounded plane shapes, simply the style (middle tube, and two tubes to the side from the middle of water one)

Why did jesus supposedly heal some lepers in the stories, but he didn't cure the disease leprosy itself? Some people still suffer with leprosy to this day. Was he incompetent? Evil? Just wants certain people to suffer? Science has largely cured the disease leprosy. Thank scientists! Can you name a disease god has cured? Science has actually cured a number of diseases. Do you have any evidence that any gods even exist? How is jesus god's only son? Aren't we all supposedly created in god's image? Didn't god create Adam and Eve?
