LEGOs aren’t just for kids anymore. In collaboration with IndieGoGo enterprise, the famous toy brand has announced the LEGO® FORMA, a new LEGO set that will be catered towards adults. While you may be familiar with the toy sets as a way to appease rowdy kids, LEGO wants to encourage adults to use LEGO building as a way de-stress.
The new LEGO FORMA is more of a “creative project” than their child set counterparts, said Kari Vinther, Senior Marketing Manager and Head of Creative Play Lab Pilots. The adult LEGO set is a 294 piece model Koi fish.
It includes a gear system to generate a life-like swimming motion along with unique customizable skins that include Shark Skin, Splash Skin, Koi Skin, and even a decorate your own with Ink Koi Skin.
“The young adults we speak to tell us they still feel the urge to be creative and enjoy the physical experience of making stuff – but life seems to get in the way,” said Vinther. Both companies hope the product facilitates a way for adults to disconnect from their screens. And tap into their creative side through a fun challenge.
This LEGO for adults model is small enough to be a cute addition to any room around the house. “We want to help them [adults] rediscover the joy of building blocks that children possess and unleash their imaginations for a couple of hours.”
The first round of the fun new LEGO figurines was only released as a limited, short-run batch on the IndieGoGo website and is unsurprisingly already sold out.
According to an official statement by LEGO: “A series of pilots are being planned to run in various locations and formats over the coming year to float new ideas, crowdsource others, and receive real-time feedback from consumers to evaluate whether concepts should be developed and scaled.”
See how it works in the video below!
Would you buy one of these new sets?

Share on FacebookI mean when did normal legos stop being for adults? idk about you all but the legos that i have say 4-99 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Same here! I still love LEGO as an adult and I don't think this looks as much fun! :)
Load More Replies...Ummm, I never knew existing Legos were meant for children! Ive always thought they were for adults as well! LOL
I am underwhelmed by these. When I heard Legos for adults, I thought smaller Intricate pieces and maybe larger scale.
Don't want to knock the idea for people who are interested (i have adult colouring books and have been teased about it in the past) but I think playing with the regular lego is a lot better
Ironically, where I work, we use legos as part of the interview process. (we have cameras in the waiting area, and we put out small pencil boxes with stashes of legos, intentionally shorting them of certain types... forcing people to interact. It is a better indicator of fitness to hire than any other part of the interview.)
Koi, shark and humpback whale, octopus and cat for me, please! One can hope, right?
I wouldn't buy a fish in lego to be honest, not very interesting to look at really. I do not build with lego but if I did I would stick to the regular lego, more interesting and appealing.
The next time someone says "Lego's", I'm going to hurt them. The plural of Lego is Lego- just like the plural of Sheep is Sheep.
I thought that Legos were made for kids from 9-99... are we not adults til 100?
Oooh I might consider the shark even though I have so much problems with carpal tunnel syndrome I steer clear of such activities
I love LEGO but these are just kits. Kinetic yes, but just assembly kits for a single result that's the same as every one built by whoever bought the same one. They remove the serendipitous nature of crafting your own design within the limitations of the available pieces you have on hand.
This looks more like some of the Erector Set kits I had. It looks super cool but doesn't exactly scream Lego to me, except for the pieces at the base.
Looks derivative...or optimization worthy....meh..they try....its a process....pourquoi pas. We have hyperreallistic sexdolls and algorithms that haunt entertain and ridicule us. Why not some lego plastic animals for xmas. Only if they r e vegan I might add--
I think this is very cool. It makes you think you are being creative using elements that are pre-created by other people. Very nice. I would love it if Santa Clause brought me a set. I like the black and white design. That is my favorite. The flat pieces with the buttons hold much intrigue for future design possibilities. Like lego next gen. The price is probably out of my range thought.
Ok I don't know about you but lego has the exact opposite effect to de-stressing for me XD
Just saying kids would also enjoy this, and adults should play with LEGO's if that's what makes them happy
I'll stick to the regular Lego kits and sets tyvm. I would not want to invest in a " one trick pony" when I can go hallelujah batsh*t with my imagination with a basic set. Good idea though ang and brilliant engineering on the articulating gears.
