TIL steel wool can be used to keep rats out: "It is a physical barrier: Steel wool is difficult for rats to chew through. It's painful to gnaw: The sharp, jagged edges can hurt their teeth and gums if they try to chew it. It's easy to use: It can be packed into small cracks and crevices where rodents try to enter homes"
