Woman Hilariously Documents Her Attempt To Take Care Of The Cat Who Wouldn’t Stop Visiting Her
When Erin Breean from Austin, Texas, took the kitty who was constantly visiting her house to the vet, she didn’t know what she was getting herself into. All Erin wanted was to see if the supposedly male cat — who she and her partner Landon named Kevin — was chipped. The visit, however, revealed that Kevin was full of surprises. Literally.
At first, it turned out that Kevin was a female. If that wasn’t enough, the vet soon determined that Kevin was pregnant. Being a huge animal lover, Erin decided to take in the kitty and help her bring her litter into this world. To everyone’s delight, Erin also documented the entire thing and the diary turned out to be absolutely wholesome.

“Don’t touch me but give me belly rubs?”
Erin and Landon first noticed Kevin creeping around their patio mid-March. She would visit them once a week or so. But it wasn’t long until the visits became daily. “Catching her was a 4-day ordeal of offering her treats and then food,” Erin told Bored Panda. “During this process, my boyfriend Landon named him (her) Kevin. We would sit out on the patio with her for an hour or two every evening, she would roll around on her back for belly rubs but was really skittish and didn’t want us petting her. She would chase after us if we would get up and walk away, though.”
Eventually, Erin started opening her office door for her and figured if she wanted to come in, she would. She did. “She took a few laps around my office and laid down in the hallway like, ‘This is my house now’. I closed my office door, put her in our bathroom, and found a vet that would see us the next day to see if she was chipped. She wasn’t, and that’s when we found out that she was a girl and pregnant,” Erin explained.
“The date on the right is the estimated age the vet put down for Kevin. No, this isn’t a conspiracy, lol. The date of the visit was cut off so I could squish the pic in an Instagram story”
If Erin was to describe Kevin with one word, she’d call her talkative. “From the first time we spotted her in the green belt to today on our couch, she talks nonstop. She has full conversations with her kittens, which is cute to hear from the other room.”
Now that’s a surprise!
Just like Kevin’s everyday life
The couple also have a dog, Murphy, who was raised with their cat Max (unfortunately, Max passed away in January of this year, leaving a huge empty spot for them all), so he is very used to felines. “We were really hesitant to introduce Kevin and Murphy at first, but Kevin took the initiative and went right up to him, and they’ve been best friends since. He is obsessed with her kittens, and the kittens love to climb all over him, pounce on his tail, and sneak up and stalk him.”
“Best friends”
“She was clearly taking advantage of the situation by now”
“Waiting for kittens”
“April 1, 2020. 3 pm”
“Kevin’s face when she realized she just pooped out a kitten at 3:50 pm”
“4:55 pm, 2 down… *3 down, I can’t count. Lol”
“Four baby Kevins, 6:20 pm”
“April 3, 3 days old”
Erin and Landon have never looked after kittens or even a female pet before, so they were super nervous at first. “She had her kittens 4 days after we got back from the vet, and we spent all our time reading articles for what to expect when your cat’s expecting and asking for advice from friends who had fostered kittens.”
Erin contacted their local shelter, Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter and they sent the couple a ton of useful information and set them up so they could ‘foster’ Kevin and her kittens through them. “This means that when they’re all old enough to go to their forever homes, they will be chipped, fixed, and vaccinated!”
“5 days old!”
Just like their mom, the baby Kevins enjoy the spotlight
“They have all been adopted,” Erin added. “They are going in pairs which we are very happy about, two to a friend here in Austin and two to our old roommate back in San Francisco. They’ll be ready to go home in a week and we’ve decided Kevin belongs here with us for good!”
“Y’all. We were calling her a calico because our vet (and the internet) said the presence of white makes her technically a calico and not a tortoiseshell. Take it up with her and stop DM’ing me, thanks”
“Weigh-ins”
“Deaf, blind, and cute af”
“Teaching Kevin how to take selfies”
“April 7, 2020…we made it a week!!”
“Everyone say ‘cheeeese’!”
“3 little beans, all in a row”
“April 14, 2 weeks old! Eyes starting to barely open…”
“Yea, me too kid”
“The little girl wasn’t gaining nearly as much weight as the others, so I took to holding her to make sure she was getting enough lunch without her brothers shoving her out of the way”
“Kevin starting to leave her kids for a few minutes at a time to start exploring the house. I see you, lady!!!”
“To say Murphy is obsessed with them is an understatement”
“Dad life, amiright”
“Best babysitter ever. Trying to live up to Nana from Peter Pan…minus the whole ‘losing the kids’ thing…”
“April 22, they’re getting restless in our bathroom closet, lol. Thiiiiiis close to escaping…”
“Tiny teef coming in…”
“Kevin helping get the spare room ready for the kids”
“Checkin’ out the new digs”
“April 22, the first night in their new room. Growin’ up fast!”
“Everyone knows kittens make the best pillows”
“This bed was our cat Max’s before we lost him in January. We miss him more than anything in the entire world, but I’m pretty sure he’d be happy to see his bed going to good use”

Share on FacebookWhat a lucky kevin and kits to have such a good home! Kevin knows what she's doing picking her hoomans ^-^
I needed to see all these cuties after a rough night. A great way to start the day. Thanks for posting.
I believe Max sent Kevin to you because she needed you and Max guided her to you. Great story and love all the photos
So true. Max knew where Kevin would be safe and loved, along with her babies 💕
Load More Replies...I had a homeless cat given as a present on Christmas (in France) and she was what they call a 'poisonous gift' - pregnant (which showed a couple of weeks later). Another cat I adopted was shy and hid and at one point I couldn't find him - heard meowing. We tore down a few feet of wall where there was a hole big enough for him to get into. About an hour after we started, he comes strolling into the room while we are trying to see if he's in around the pipes. Thanks cat!!
Erin and Landon (and Murphy, of course), thanks for taking good care of Kevin and her kittens and finding homes for the kittens.
I didn't want those pix ever to end. A beautiful story excellently documented. A book, perhaps?
Oh my goodness but they are cute! That was lovely of you to take Miss Kevin in. (Have you changed her name?) I love the pics of Murphy and the babies. Adorable, just adorable!
Not step-dad, just dad! Dads aren't necessarily related to you, they love and care for you, and that is Murphy for you!
Load More Replies...In April I adopted a dog from our shelter. We thought she had recently given birth somewhere, but no. Three weeks later she surprised us with 7 puppies. Six survived and it has been a crazy journey since then. As a Senior, I adopt dogs to avoid puppy training. Well here I am knee deep in pooh, food, puppy teeth and all the joys of Grandparenting puppies!!
They tamed a feral cat! Not easy to do. This is a great story. Murphy is the best!
That was like the cutest thing I have seen in a while. The way this guys took pictures of everythin. Amazing.👐❤
I adored this whole thing! Thank you so much for sharing. You are good people to take Kevin in and take care of her babies. Well, Murphy did most of the babysitting! And I’m sorry for your loss of your fur baby in January. Maybe he sent Kevin to you?
These extra cute pictures really made my day. Thanks for being so thorough and for taking Kevin in the first place. The love just shows through in this post. Thank you.
I think maybe Max told kitten. Kevin if you very need a safe place with humans you can trust this is it!
My family had a gender confusion issue with our short unknown breed, aka mutt, dog. The dog was originally thought to be male and was given the very good boy name of Oscar. Oscar's first visit to the vet corrected the gender confusion. ( "What gender confusion?! Oscar is a good boy!" ) Oscar was gifted with a very good girl name of Jennifer Oscar. She lived a good long life, causing laughter as well as more than her share of mischief. ( "Whaddaya mean I have to ride home in the back of the truck? I had to make sure that seal was not a threat to the family. How was I to be certain it was really dead except by rolling in the body. The aroma it gave off was quite pleasant.")
I've died from all this cuteness 😍 Also why am I not surprised to see the two gingers fighting over the same nipple 😂 (mother of devil ginger cat here).
Quite an experience, first time kitten parents, nice to see the stages of growing, very pleased they were adopted in pairs, thanks for the wonderful post !!!
I’ve like, been on this post for at least 20 minutes because KITTEHS 😍😍😍😍
Brought me & my BP right down!! SO good for a healthy, happy psyche! The best!!
The post says that it's Kevin's estimated birth date, not the date of the x-rays.
Load More Replies...I loved all the life moment shots and their expressions. Great story, thanks for sharing! I heard all about Kevin so it was fun to see her in action and Murphy enjoying the conpany.
I love this cat family..they all are so precious ❤🥰 love the little kitten bleps taking place throughout this post. And the very last photo of them, the little orange kitten poking his head over the scratcher like "help me, losing my grip, going to fall in 3..2....... And Murphey is just the cutest foster dad
The kittens are the cutest and I am liiiiiike 100% sure that this is my new favoroite
I call cats "angels with 4 paws and a tail". I think Max sent Kevin.
Wonderful loved it, I really did x. But why part of the way through, towards the end - 24 shots from the end is there a man with an orange jacket on a yellow background grimacing and shielding his face away from the camera? I found that bit disturbing.
Absolutely entertaining! What a wonderful couple. Wishing y'all and Kevin a wonderful life.
I’m in love with you and your whole family! ! This is beautiful and heart warming
This is a awesome story it made me smile and thank you for helping Kevin and lil babys ! Murphy is adorable all of the pictures are adorable!!
I LOVE that Kevin's babies are going to new homes in pairs. We did that - we saw who paired with who, and went with that. Kept a few - Foster Failures. And Mom. Thank you, Erin and Landon, for giving Kevin her safe and loving home. She gets to pair with Murphy, so they have each other for Best buddies 💞
This the sweetest and funniest post I've seen today, Thanks so much !
I've never commented on a stranger's post before but I loved this so much that I just wanted to let you know! Thank you :)
Forget COVID-19. The most insidious disease today is "Cat Posts". It has plagued Facebook for years and now it has "jumped" to Bored Panda. Quick Twitter! Put an anti-cat face mask on NOW!
We had the same thing happen but we didn't know she was prego until the birth. A little cat was meowing around the house as we were moving, since we only moved three doors down we took her and put up notices to find an owner. named her just Kitten because we weren't keeping her (had three cats already). Weeks later she walks out of a bedroom looking wayyyy skiny. Go in and see that Kitten has had kittens. They were so cute and fun but luckily all of them were adopted including Kitten after that.
This is so special and adorable and over filled my animal loving heart. Thank you for taking the time to document this wonderful life changing experiences. Mew mew
Such a lovely post! Going through exactly the same situation here in Malta; I fostered a pregnant stray cat (knowing it was a girl AND pregnant lol) and now I have 4 little babies, with the runt still half his/her siblings' size! Mum cat does not really allow us to handle them much though. Such a bundle of pure joy, even though it's a lot of work!
Max is now in cat heaven. kevin, murphy and the lil kittens are so cute. you have looked after them well :D
MY CHEEKS HURT FROM SMILING SO MUCH!! OMG, this entire post is just one of the cutest ever, you guys were so lucky to have such a beauty find you, Kevin is absolutely gorgeous! I coulda told you she was a girl and pregnant, but you guys aren't used to female felines and I am VERY familiar with them. She also took to being a Mamma very well, the first 3 were barely out and they're super clean and dry already, she got right to work, didn't she ;) Your dogger is also fantabulous, Murphy is a super stepdogdad and those pics are just heart melting, but there's nothing more photogenic than a mommy cat sleeping with her babies, is there...nope! So glad you took her in when you did, she needed a safe place for her family and thrilled that you're keeping her, I couldn't imagine giving her up after all this, nor could you obviously ;)
So lovely, it's such a precious experience. Are you going to keep them all? We had 3 kittens and kept them all. 4 kitties makes life loads of fun.
Ah. Kittens....there's nothing quite like kittens from the moment of birth through to young adulthood to get you bum up, head down for as many weeks as it takes. So enchanting.
Wonderful post and photos. We went through the same thing...when our kitty who adopted us had five kittens. We loved the fun times with the kitties. Our kitty is still with us many years later.
What a fabulous "cat-alog" of events! You got a nice variety of kittens -- a brown classic tabby, a red classic tabby, a red mackerel tabby and a tortoiseshell. I'm sure your vet is wonderful with health topics, but misunderstands about the color -- a calico technically is a basically white cat with red and black patching. If she's less than half white, she is a tortoiseshell-and-white. "Kevin" is a hoot, and love your doggo, Murphy. What beautiful fur-children!
Yeah, calicos are patched, torties have the colors swirled together. I've had 2, they were wonderful, opinionated cats. Tortitude!
Load More Replies...This story made meOW smile and even laugh out loud. The world need more people like you guys. Thanks I loved it. Give Kevin, Murphy and the kittens a hug for me.
Er. My. GERSH!!! Great job taking care of... well... Kevin and... her kids, Murphy!
This isn't "too" unusual. If a prego cat knows your good people, then bam, you've got a cat and her upcoming litter. This has happened to me. Best thing ever!!
What a lucky kevin and kits to have such a good home! Kevin knows what she's doing picking her hoomans ^-^
