Woman Gets Dropped From L’Oréal’s Campaign Because Of Her Acne, She Responds With A Powerfull Message
A British beauty vlogger was outraged when L’Oréal refused to have her in their advertisements, after initially making an offer to the girl. The brand representatives argued that they do not work with models who have acne scars.
Kadeeja Khan hosts a beauty blog, where she publishes educational videos about makeup, experiences with different images and cosmetics, or simply advertises some products. So how is she different from the hundreds of other, similar bloggers? Among other things, Kadeeja has skin problems and does not hesitate to show it.
Almost all of Kadeeja’s posts are accompanied by an inspiring body image positive message, which her 136,000 followers love. Recently, L’Oreal offered her the chance to go to France, to help promote the launch of a new range of vegan hair dye.
Kadeeja was happy to accept the offer and agreed to all terms of the deal. But after a few days, L’Oreal sent an email to Kadeeja, in which they stated that she would no longer be required for any modeling work. After a couple of days of silence, she decided to share her thoughts with her followers.
“I’m already used to ‘trolls’ trying to bring me down. But coming from a global international brand? That really hurt. It honestly made me feel like there really is not any room in the industry for natural beauty. It made me feel that “you’re worth it” … ONLY if you’re perfect. However, it has given me fuel. Fuel to continue to show you that you are beautiful no matter what ANYONE says. Never stop loving yourself for who you are & NEVER change.”
The cosmetics company responded with this message:
“We deeply apologize for any upset caused and have made direct contact with the individuals involved to clarify this unfortunate misunderstanding. The photoshoot was designed to support a new hair color launch and feature hairdressers and lifestyle bloggers. Unfortunately, a misunderstanding resulted in the agency casting bloggers with skin concerns for this shoot. This resulted in the wrong profile being cast, which was then poorly and insensitively communicated to the individuals concerned. We do not have regulations in place that restrict us from working with people with skin conditions. At L’Oréal we work with women and men with all skin types and celebrate natural beauty in all its diversity.”

Share on FacebookI'm 6'2 and 200 lbs. I applied to be a horse jockey but was rejected. I'm going to sue. When will standards change...people of any size can be a horse jockey!! Oh...wait...
I agree that standards should change. But there are places with super strict regulations, you know. There's a dance school in France that won't take you if you're too tall, too short, overweight etc. Some places are like that, you know. Did you apply for various places and get rejected? That's a serious issue and I agree that you were wronged. Did you apply for only that one place? Then who knows? Maybe they have reasons. Maybe they're looking for a someone in x Did they address the issue of your appearance personally when rejecting you? Then they're messed up. But still, I feel like some areas in business are like that, you know. True, it doesn't justify their rash judgement based only on appearances but it's kind of important for them if they show only their good side. It's the same way some actors get no work because they aren't 'camera worthy'. I don't think it's that much of a bad thing if they didn't mock you about it or something.
Load More Replies...Maybe I'm too naive... but... is there the possibility that they rejected her because they don't want the risk of their product cause her any allergic reaction and then get into legal trouble?? It's not like I am defending big corporations or saying they're not the classic Big Bad Wolf... but... we aaaalways jump defensively in stories like this and seeing the face of the Devil on any company's face, we think they ALWAYS are evil, they ALWAYS try to minimize the common, average person.. but.. couldn't there be other reasons once in a while?
If this was the case, they would (or else should) have stated this in their message! It would be totally appropriate reason. And since they did not do that, I do not think this is the reason why they rejected her.
Load More Replies...I have been surprised to see that some people assume that makeup makes things worse so going without makeup is obviously going to cure it. I have a healthy diet, drink plenty of fluids, haven't worn makeup in decades and yet my skin is affected by eczema, acne rosacea (auto immune disease), seborrhoeic eczema and allergy to dust. L'Oréal are by this, ignoring that the Majority of people actually have skin problems! Skin is the biggest organ of the body, it is affected by So much but it is how you feel about it that counts. On the NHS you can get Cosmetic Camouflage makeup for women and men to help them lead lives where they feel happy and confident. I have tried it myself but it didn't feel right for me. We should celebrate our flaws if we can, not that they are flaws. Quite frankly it's the 'perfect' skin that's wrong because everyone gets spots from whatever during their lifetime to full on skin conditions. L'Oréal should know better 😟
I don't understand... she's mad because a makeup company chose not to use her because she has bad skin?? This isn't like they pushed away a gay person or trans or obese or some other unethical move.... they are a makeup company, she has bad skin. End of story. Work on your acne, try again. Or make yourself a victim; that will solve everything.
I know I'm going to be down voted, but do you really think women would buy makeup if she is the model? Honestly no. Plus I think her makeup skills aren't that great. Reality is very few people can be models or representatives of companies
Left me smiling and I agree she looked beautiful without the makeup but she still looked lovely with the makeup.
Smiling because her message at the end was so true

Poor girl. Acne devestates your self esteem to begin with. It is NOT due to anything she does or hygeine, its hormonal. Its like any other condition. I think she is beautiful and i hope she doesnt lose her confidence. Loreal i wont be buying any of ypur stuff unless you apologize.
I agree. I haven't bought L'Oreal products in ages, as my skin reacts badly to their products; but them dropping her for a hair product due to acne scarring? Really? That's low! For a brand that says "you're worth it", are certainly not living up to their slogan.
Load More Replies...L'Oreal should be ashamed of themselves. Their slogan "you're worth it" should be changed to something else, obviously because any person with a skin condition is not "worthy" of their brand.
This level of acne deserves medical attention, not make up. I've got friends who had acne problem (not this severe though) and they got their livers checked and obviously something was wrong. I never had acne problems but i have eczema so I reckon I can imagine how she feels. On the other hand, if I had a skin care brand, I wouldn't want her to be the face of the brand. You can't promise the perfect look with severely problematic skin. Also I have to say that I'm sick of this make up trend that tries to turn all us women into drag queens. Doesn't look good or artsy on women.
There's another girl who was affected by this L'Oréal thing, too (her name is Bronya, and she's a makeup artist on Instagram with eczema). She was invited to France by L'Oréal to test their new hair product line, but was sent an e-mail later that said L'Oréal didn't want to work with people who had skin conditions.
Se is beautiful 😘 I have acne too and the scars... it feels terrible at times. BUT it's guite normal. Noone should ever be ashamed / shamed bc of it.
Nani 17, I don't blame you, you are lucky to have good, clear skin & are just not aware of what acne is.It is not about keeping your face clean ( although anyone with acne should wash 2x's daily ( not more because that can give you More acne and then add lotion after). Most acne cases are Hormonal. That's it. Hormones! I know because I've suffered since I was 22. I had perfect skin before that. There are medications to treat it such as birth control &/or Spironolactone( for females only), but it's only a treatment & not a cure. It's a disease that has no cure & not a lot of attention and not enough awareness. I applaud this young woman for standing up & bringing to light a condition that needs much more awareness.
OMG how could a skin care company NOT want to showcase birches with zits !? OMG WTH !? OMG
Plus they're one of the worst offenders of animal testing

Here's a story from HS: I had really bad acne, and it started to clear up when I quit over washing it, putting all kinds of medication on it, and quit wearing heavy makeup. And when I quit worrying so much about it, I felt better about myself. There was a girl in school, who I admired BC she had beautiful, flawless skin. There was also a boy who had severe acne, the worst I have ever seen. He kept to himself, ate lunch alone, etc. He had been teased and made fun of so much, that he totally withdrew. I can only imagine how this affected him mentally. Well, one day I was walking into class, and I heard this girl saying "And you know he never washes his face!" and all her friends laughing. Then I walked in the room. Dead silence. Needless to say, I never admired that girl again.
PS: I'm 60 now, and still occasionally get small pimples. There are all types of foundation available, including some that will not aggravate acne. Her dermatologist can help her with that. Heavy "pancake" makeup like this is indeed making the acne worse.

Funny that its coming from a brand who is so famous over-photoshopping their models. And thats a hair product she would advertise! Nothing to do with acne, where they could easily just edit the skin in photos as they always do. Have people forgotten the leakage of Beyonces Loreal makeup campaign photos before editing????
For anyone else that may be fighting acne, please try this! Get a clove of live garlic. (You can tell if it is live by slicing it longways down the middle. If its alive you will see a creamy light green line running thru the middle as opposed to a brown one.) All you need do is crush a live clove of garlic and apply the juice from it to your acne. Acne is caused by by tiny infections in you hair folicules and pores. When you crush a live clove of garlic, it immediately makes a compound called allicin. It is this compound that kills any and all bacterial, viral or fungal infections! Very easy and effective! Apply it as much as you need to, it will not hurt your skin at all!
You can do the same thing with an alcohol swab and you won't be running around smelling like pizza. Of course, both of these things are terrible for your skin, drying it out and making it look flaky while doing NOTHING for acne. Thank you for playing.

" cleaning your face multiple times/day" is THE WORST thing you can ever do to skin with acne. It is forbidden! The more you wash your face the more sebum your skin produces and more acne you get. Every dermatologist will tell ya that! Max you can wash your face is twice time a day with acne, and for better results you should remove makeup with natural oils like almond or soybean or nigella oil. Acne skin needs moisture and oil balance way more than other skin types. It is closer to atopic dermatitis than normal skin types. I think she's wrong. L'Oreal (the company that apparently thinks you're worth it, but the animals they test on are not) never said she wasn't beautiful, they said they don't want people with skin issues. There's a difference. She is attractive but her skin is bad. I wouldn't use her either. Sorry. Enough already with the 'every single flaw I have is gorgeous and you'd better find it gorgeous too or you're an a*****e and I'm gonna sue you' c**p. No. She'd be a representative of their makeup. Makeup is meant to make your skin look even toned and kind of well, flawless. Why would they want someone with cystic acne to start with?
They don't test on animals for a long time already.
