Abortion Clinic Employee Shares How Some Pro-Life Women Act When They Come In As Customers

Twitter user Annoyed Cicada created a thread about abortion clinics and started a discussion on a very sensitive topic online. The Twitter user shared how, in their experience as an abortion clinic employee, some pro-life women get abortions themselves and allegedly try to justify this by lashing out at others. Scroll down to read Annoyed Cicada’s thoughts in their own words.

According to a recent Gallup poll, around 62 percent of Americans who are between the ages of 18 and 29 consider themselves to be pro-choice on the question of abortion. Meanwhile, only 37 percent of Americans over the age of 65 are pro-choice.

We know that this is a very sensitive topic, dear Pandas. Whether you are pro-choice or pro-life, remember to keep the discussion in the comment section civil and respect your fellow readers.

The same poll found that 48 percent of all interviewed American men identified as pro-choice and 46 percent thought of themselves as pro-life. Meanwhile, fewer women (43 percent) who took part in the poll considered themselves pro-choice; 51 percent identified as pro-life. In both cases, 6 percent of men and women had no opinion.

In May 2020, Gallup found that 20 percent of Americans believe that abortions should be illegal in all circumstances. Meanwhile, 29 percent thought that they should be legal under any circumstances; 50 percent believe that they should be legal, but only under certain circumstances.

When compared to 2019, the number of Americans supporting abortions without restrictions increased by 4 percent.

Even though the number of Americans who are either pro-choice or pro-life is more or less equal right now, this wasn’t always the case. According to Gallup, far more Americans identified themselves as supporters of the pro-choice position a couple of decades ago.

Back in 1995, Gallup found that 56 percent of respondents were pro-choice and only 33 percent were pro-life. Meanwhile, 5 percent had mixed opinions, 3 percent had no idea what the terms meant, and another 3 percent had no opinion whatsoever.

Here’s how some people reacted to the thread

I just need to add that Planned Parenthood isn't only an abortion clinic. They were wonderful to me and my husband when we didn't have insurance and needed prenatal care. They helped insure our baby would be born healthy. Our story is not some small exception either. Free prenatal vitamins, free ultrasound, free professional advice and help. Not once did they suggest abortion. They said, "Do you want to have this baby?" and when we said "Yes" that was instantly everyone's main goal.

I'm sorry, but I disagree with the term "pro-life". They're simply anti-abortion. If they were pro-life then they would support the women who don't have abortions and keep a child, while living in poverty. Or how about they step up and adopt the children that are unwanted? I don't see that happening. That's life.

Exactly. There are about 300,000+ children in the US that are available for adoption and about 64 million people that consider themselves "Pro-Life". If they were truly Pro-Life that number of children waiting to be adopted should be zero.

Infuriating. What bothers me most, in the end, is the point mentioned in one of the comments there. That there are very effective ways to lower the amount of terminated pregnancies - thorough sex education and easy access to contraceptives. But the people who scream "pro-life" the loudest are in most cases against those too. By the way, I have a huge amount of respect for the person who said they're pro-life but also supports these programmes. If everyone was that way we'd be much better of. I'm still very much pro-choice but this is a standpoint I can have some respect for.

There are countries where teenagers have more sex than American ones, but fewer pregnancies. They're not taught that sex is wrong; the emphasis is on preventing pregnancy and STDs.

Can I get to the bigger issue? It doesn't matter when life begins. You can't be forced to donate blood or organs to people who don't grow in your uterus. Even if people would die without those donations, and even if you're already dead so you aren't using them anymore. If people WANT to go through a pregnancy, they shouldn't be stopped. But when abortion isn't a choice, then we are giving corpses more bodily autonomy than pregnant people, with no other distinction that can be drawn. Someone's life still depends on heart or lung transplants but we won't take them from a dead person if they didn't consent to it first. Why would we take away that same ability to consent during pregnancy?

BRAVA, Margaret Mayhugh!!! I wish pro-choice people like us would bring up this argument more often. All the endless dithering about whether or not/when a fertilized egg/zygote/embryo/fetus is a person is just so much philosophical masturbation -- the issue is bodily autonomy. If we honor and revere bodily autonomy so much that you can't even be compelled to donate some blood to save the life of your own, already-born child (and we DO, and you CAN'T), then making this one, extreme and outrageous exception when it comes to pregnancy is blatant, outrageous and indefensible discrimination and oppression against pregnant people.

There would be no discussion of a yes or no to abortion bans if men were the ones who got pregnant. Opponents of abortion are hypocritical unless they offer sensible alternatives such as contraception, sexual education and preventing abuse.

Every time I hear the term "Pro-Life" I think about something George Carlin said... "Pro-life conservatives are obsessed with the fetus from conception to nine months. After that, they don’t want to know about you. They don’t want to hear from you. No nothing. No neonatal care, no day care, no head start, no school lunch, no food stamps, no welfare, no nothing. If you’re pre-born, you’re fine; if you’re preschool, you’re f****d." Obviously not EVERY one of them, but a good proportion of them feel this way (until someone says something to them and then suddenly they're NOT that kind of...yeah.)

The lack of empathy from these people is very similar to the gay marriage debate. The only conservative law makers who didn't oppose gay marriage were the ones that had gay relatives. They all have an empathy problem and can't put themselves in other peoples shoes. Also see the people that want to take Medicaid away from people that don't have jobs. It is much harder to get a job if you have health problems and can't get it care.

Not all abortions are from unwanted pregnancies. Sometimes they are medically necessary for a number of reasons that either put the mother at risk or will result in a stillborn child or one who would suffer unnecessarily were it to live. Unfortunately it is still referred to as an abortion, even late term, if the mother has to give birth to a stillborn child or the pregnancy has to be terminated because there is no longer a heartbeat.

This is one of the points I keep on bringing up. If a baby isn't going to live once they are born, it's awful forcing the mother to carry the baby to full term. Some women do chose to carry these babies to full term, they are far stronger than I am. I've worked in delivery suite and assisted these women, it's very hard at any any stage. I think it would be awful being pregnant with a baby that is missing their brain, and having to carry that baby to full term. Imagine going to the shops and having a stranger excited to see you are pregnant, when you know that your baby will never take a breath.

From what I've seen so far, I deduce that this type of people aren't “pro-life,” but rather, “pro-birth”. You feel so much empathy for an embryo, but where does that empathy go when innocent kids end up in orphanages or abusive homes? Where does it go when a vast majority of people continue to suffer in poverty so their basic demands like food, shelter, and education remain unfulfilled? Why aren't you just as angry when you see minority groups getting oppressed just for existing? So yes, “pro-birth” or “anti-choice” (as fellow user Freya said) are more accurate.

Most people aren't pro-life. They are pro-birth. Once the baby is born they no longer care until that person becomes a burden on society, then he or she has "lazy, good-for-nothing" parents and should be removed from the home.

Hypocrisy? The VAST MAJORITY of all abortions don't involve any birth defect, any danger to mom, nor rape or incest. It's simply killing perfectly healthy babies. CHOOSE LIFE!!!!

There are in fact MANY people who have abortions and feel absolutely no need to be regretful about it. Its just a fetus after all. And it IS healthcare. If I remember correctly the U.S. is the one of the few countries where you need to find a specific abortion clinic to perform the procedures. But in many other countries, like those in Europe, you can have an abortion in any damn regular hospital! Its just ridiculous that we don't have the same.

Abortion is a very touchy subject. Not all abortions are performed because the person didn't want the baby. Sometimes the abortion is performed because the pregnancy is putting the mother's life in jeopardy. I have a family friend who had an ectopic pregnancy. She was in a lot of pain and suffering. If she had not aborted the baby, the pregnancy could have killed her. Also, these women have absolutely no right to come into an abortion clinic for an abortion and act like they are better than anyone else. Getting an abortion doesn't make you evil, but being a jerk to the clinic staff sure does. Pro- life activists need to stop acting like they are better than anyone else. First off, a fetus is not considered a person until something like 23 weeks therefore abortion seekers are not murdering anyone. Secondly, no one has the right to tell anyone else what to do with their own bodies. Instead of trying to tell someone what to do with their own life, just live your own.

Oof Me, in simplest terms, an abortion is a medical process of stopping (aborting) a pregnancy. ie they remove the embryonic cells, and placenta from the uterus. It should be done by a licenced medical professional. However, abortions have existed in various formats, for centuries. Different countries & states, will have different laws regarding when the procedure must by done by (eg 12 weeks into the pregnancy), and the steps that you must go through prior to the procedure (eg some simply require you to sign a form giving consent, others require you do counselling first etc). If ever you (or someone you know) needs information about the choices available, most 'westernised' countries will have free Sexual Health clinics that will give you information confidentially - often, you won't even need to give your name, regardless of your age. In the USA, Planned Parenthood is an example of a free clinic that can give you info. Ask any more questions, if you want. Happy to give info

The hippocracy runs deep in those who think their rules of morality front apply to them. Pro life means all life. What point are they making by saving the fetus and shooting him later because he's pro choice? I wonder how many of the women throwing stuff and demanding c**p told their husbands. Or their lovers. Or anyone who might judge them for their sins. There's no VIP pass into heaven and saying your with the band won't work. I think everybody is in for a big surprise when they get to heaven. (There was some famous woman from the 70s who was one of the leaders in this.) Whenever religion gets involved with the government/law, that does not bode well for the country.

The hypocrisy of the "Pro-Lifers" infuriates me. 1. You hear about their leaders...even a Catholic archbishop...who get their girl (girlfriend, hooker, underage girl) in the "family way," and they give them the cash (or don't) and say, "Get an abortion." 2. How many times has the evangelical family been told over the dinner table that little Florence, aged 17, is in the "family way" by her boyfriend? He is pushed into the military to get him away from her (hopefully for life), while she goes to "visit her aunt" for three months, and comes home silent, sullen, and resentful. 3. The "pro-lifers" are all very concerned about the contents of the womb until it pops into the world. Then there's no spending or support for single mothers, no day care, no housing, no medical care, no job training. After all, it's their fault, isn't it? 4. And if the woman is pregnant because she was raped, well, it's her fault. ALWAYS.

The fascinating thing is that even if these people cared more about fetuses than actual babies - a lot more fetuses are miscarried than aborted. These are wanted, anticipated, and loved fetuses that die because the pregnant woman drank polluted water, worked in unsafe conditions, breathed polluted air, or didn't get enough prenatal care. Where are the "pro-lifers" on these issues? Why don't these dead fetuses matter?

Its much easier to distract people by running around and yelling: THE LIBTARD MONKEYS ARE CRUSHING BABIES AND SUCKING THERE BRAIN JUICES TO REMAIN IN THEIR HUMAN SUITS. Then to say: ¨yes. we are causing thousands of wanted fetuses to die so we can get higher in the global money leaderboards with money that we didnt earn and dont need .

The pro life should really be called pro birth. Once the baby is born, they don't care what happens. They don't care the poverty, or possible hostile environment the baby will be born into. They don't care what happens when the mother dies during childbirth, because maybe she had a medical condition where being pregnant/giving birth could literally kill her (connective tissue disorder, for example). They don't care if the child has to be raised in the foster system because no one could or wanted to care for them. All the care about is exerting their morals or control over someone else's life choices.

I was brought up Catholic and recognized as a kid the hypocrisy in religion and certainly in my mother's Catholic family. I guess I should have realized the reality -- the righteous hide so much.

Maddening and sickening how little we've evolved from the whole "freedom from persecution" garbage the ancestors traveled & fought for. If you don't want an abortion, don't get one. But don't tell someone else what to do. Otherwise, give me your 2nd amendment bs and your guns.

This just really chaps my hide. Deciding it is necessary to end the life of what you and a partner created is never an easy decision. It is one of the hardest things I think a woman ever has to face. Is it better to go through 9 months of you and the little one inside working to find a way to handle the changes you both go through, and the say good bye when you finally come face to face after all those months. A couple of old friends saying their final goodbyes. The guilt and the shame felt by these Pro Life Women who find themselves in the same waiting rooms and scary, lonely places with women they look down on, are no better nor worse than any other woman they are forced to sit amongst. The discomfort at having to endure the added moral hippocrocy of those who sit in judgement without ever looking deeper is a step in healing the great injustice that exists when we start thinking can speak for God.

If you think abortion is murder, then that would make god the biggest murderer of all time. If god controls the natural world then he is responsible for the more than 50% of fertilized human eggs aborted through natural causes. Does God Kill Babies? "Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones."-Psalm 137:9 The bible is not pro-child. Why did God set a bear upon 42 children just for teasing a prophet (2 Kings 2:23-24)? Far from demonstrating a "pro-life" attitude, the bible decimates innocent babies & pregnant women in passage after gory passage, starting with the flood & the wanton destruction of Sodom & Gomorrah, progressing to the murder of the firstborn child of every household in Egypt (Ex. 12:29), & the New Testament threats of annihilation. Biblical commandments or threats to kill children: Numbers 31:17 Now therefore kill every male among the little ones. You can lower the amount of terminated pregnancies but letting people like these not have an abortion. Also remember to send the youth welfare office after their asses so they get controlled day in and day out until they either have a mental breakdown or give in. As someone who is asexual and pro-choice, I think that if I ever got pregnant, hypothetically, I don’t know what I would do. Face the shame of being a single mom or the shame of an abortion? I wouldn’t be ready for either. Christianity is what’s doing right for you and for God, and maybe meeting in the middle sometimes. Would I regret not having a child or regret having one. Luckily, birth control exists. And I don’t think I’ll ever risk it. Even when people talk about all the awful things conservative Christians do, I really hope you’ll remember that they’re not every Christian, remember that we struggle and that not everyone is going to be your enemy.

From a couple of years ago: the abortion rates among western nations :... -US- 93.0 per 1000. -England and Wales-62.6 per 1000. -Canada- 62.6 p34 1000. -Belgium- 15.1 per 1000. Belgium has an excellent sex education program and schools and parents are not allowed to opt out. In the US and the UK , there are all kinds of exemptions and opting out is allowed. And, another significant example of the hypocrisy of claiming to be pro-life was revealed during the early years of the AIDS epidemic , with the religious right fiercely opposed top the use of any public funds for research into HIV. The subsequent delay in the development of effective treatment options denied thousands even a fighting chance at survival. Then, a more recent example .......following the mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, a prominent Baptist preacher in Sacramento, Ca., stated publicly , that he was disappointed that more weren't killed, and hope that those hospitalized , not recover.

Let me tell you a little story about my wife and my experience with our family beginnings. Her first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage at around 3 months. Her second went to full term and we now have a 36 year old son with a five year old daughter of his own. Our second child was born five years later, a "little" surprise we welcomed with open hearts and minds. My wife was 36 when the second was born. Our boys are as different as night and day. The oldest is the "smart" one, graduated at the top of all his classes in high school and college. The younger one, diagnosed with light to medium autism and pervasive developmental delay and attended special education classes throughout his time in school. BUT, like we found in a lot of kids like him, he has some unique talents as well. He NEVER forgets names, dates or places he meets anyone or different events that happen in his or our lives. He also doesn't meet a strangers, if they are when he first encounters them, they won't be for long.

"But I feel that the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a war against the child - a direct killing of the innocent child - murder by the mother herself. And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another? How do we persuade a woman not to have an abortion? As always, we must persuade her with love, and we remind ourselves that love means to be willing to give until it hurts. Jesus gave even his life to love us. So the mother who is thinking of abortion, should be helped to love - that is, to give until it hurts her plans, or her free time, to respect the life of her child. The father of that child, whoever he is, must also give until it hurts. By abortion, the mother does not learn to love, but kills even her own child to solve her problems. And by abortion, the father is told that he does not have to take any responsibility at all for the child he has brought into the world." - Mother Teresa

Physician-assisted suicide is legal in nine US states and the District of Columbia. It is an option given to individuals by law in the District of Columbia, Hawaii, Maine, New Jersey, Oregon, Vermont and Washington. It is an option given to individuals in Montana and California via court decision. Individuals must have a terminal illness as well as a prognosis of six months or less to live. Physicians cannot be prosecuted for prescribing medications to hasten death.

The truth is that for the most part, pro-life vs pro-choice basically boils down to "when does a human life begin?", and a person's opinion on this doesn't inherently make them a good or bad person just because they appear to the other side to be pro controlling women or pro murder. The hypocrisy mentioned here is no different from any other; erratic behavior is not surprising from people facing a tough situation.

I agree that the different opinion on "when life begins" doesn't make you a bad person. But pushing that opinion on others does. If you think that life begins with conception? No biggie, don't have an abortion then if you consider it murder. But don't make me not have it when I personally believe differently.

I feel that abortion would hardly be an issue to debate over if the real issue was corrected: the person themselves. Every person that I know and have ever known knows what birth control options are and how to use them. A box of condoms are under ten dollars. It's that people can be irresponsible and/or lazy. Then they get pregnant, turn scared and eventually become selfish. Unless a woman is raped, the unwanted pregnancy results from irresponsibility, not lack of education. Most people will never admit to their faults. A woman will hold a sign up that states, "Its my uterus". But we'll never see her holding one up that states, "I was lazy and irresponsible and I'm not dealing with the consequences either". I'm guessing the particular women in this article are self-righteous, which is a personal characteristic that they can only fix within themselves if they ever can admit to it. Our entire planet is dying from the same reasons: irresponsibility, laziness and selfishness.

Emy--many women get pregnant for rape--I've had many condoms break or other birth control options fail. None are 100% effective. Men sometimes refuse to wear a condom, or they secretly remove them, or they promise to pull out but don't. Sometimes these women do not have $10 for a box of condoms, do not have access to condoms, or don't even know how pregnancy happens. People make mistakes; we are human. Yes, irresponsibility is killing the planet, as is greed and a lack of empathy for all living things.

Another thing we are going have to reclassify what is considered alive since a heartbeat isn't enough. I hear the agruement that its because the fetus can't survive on their own without life support till about 30 wks. Well what about people who have LVADs for their hearts, people on kidney dialysis, diabetics? By that logic they are not really alive. Also if a single celled organism is found on a planet its considered life but not a fetus with a heartbeat.

It is impossible to say whether something is alive or not. If a robot dog barks like a dog, thinks like a dog, and acts like a dog, and simulates pain like a dog, is it alive and is it a dog? Why is it considered that plants aren't alive but animals are? In the end they are both the same complex chemical reactions but at different scales. The only thing you can know for sure is alive yourself only, not even other people. That's why I'm pro choice.

How does this article do this? There is very little, if any, editorializing. It simply states the facts, "A woman told me I was going to hell while I held her hand." If anything, this shows the empathy and care this nurse provides despite being attacked for doing the very thing the patient has come in for.

Abortion is MURDER. No matter what people tell you, a fetus is a complete human being. "A person is a person, no matter how small" - Dr Seuss. Also, Planned Parenthood was founded by a white supremacist who wanted to keep blacks and other minorities from multiplying.

Quit twisting and cherry picking history and spinning it to suit your personal agenda. Dr Seuss meant children already born, not fetuses that cannot live on their own. And read up on Margaret Sanger. She may have been a product of her time with respect to race—-most white people were at that time, unfortunately—-but she had the correct motivations to ensure all women had access to family planning and birth control.

If we want to keep abortion we have to change some double standard laws such as no more double homicides when someone kills a pregnant woman, abortion claims the fetus is not a life. Also ob gym can only be sued for malpractice if they injure the mother not the fetus because again not a life. Also why are men forced to be parents but women are not? For example guy sleeps with a woman 2x times gets her pregnant but he isnt ready to be a father but she has the baby and gets a court order to force him to pay for a kid he doesnt even want. Also the men should also get a say in whether or not they want to raise the baby and if they do the woman should carry and deliver the child and sign her rights over.

Nope. I understand where you're coming from but no. It may sound unfair that men don't have that much say in the pregnancies but the thing is that woman *always* carries more responsibility when pregnancy occurs. She's literally risking her life doing that, she puts herself out of work, it changes her life significantly more than the man's. She needs to make the decision to be pregnant (or not) herself. In this case, it's pure biology difference. If a man doesn't want a child then he should do as much as he can to not get into that situation - always use a condom, if he doesn't want them ever, get sterilized. And I know that accidents can happen either way but that's the way with sex. Do as much as you can to prevent pregnancy if you don't want it and be prepared to carry the consequences if it does anyway. The responsibility of creating a child is 50:50.

I was taken aback by the respondant (raraluiz) whose aunt had her first abortion at 13(!!!). Getting pregnant that young is almost always the result of statutory rape, which is also not at all uncommon in very rigidly religious patriarchal cultures.

Lara Mig. Those fetuses dont matter because big business would have to change to fix them.

Deuteronomy 2:34 utterly destroyed the men, the women & the little ones. ffrf.org

Deuteronomy 2:34 utterly destroyed the men, the women & the little ones. ffrf.org

Yawn. Yes, everyone is a hypocrite. Conservatives take government handouts whenever they can. Lots of liberals own stock in Amazon and oil companies. Veterans argue against universal health care while getting all their medical care from the government.

Why is abortion legal but suicide isn’t?

Physician-assisted suicide is legal in nine US states and the District of Columbia. It is an option given to individuals by law in the District of Columbia, Hawaii, Maine, New Jersey, Oregon, Vermont and Washington. It is an option given to individuals in Montana and California via court decision. Individuals must have a terminal illness as well as a prognosis of six months or less to live. Physicians cannot be prosecuted for prescribing medications to hasten death.

Conservative types do not have less empathy! There is not need for people to insult people of other views. Having a different view doesn't mean you have less empathy or morality.

Remember when R v W was enacted and the liberals all said abortion was going to be rare and only when the mother's life was in danger. It has now become a disgusting form of birth control!

This app is the most blatantly left-wing collection of utter garbage. Stop being so biased, and provide entertainment, instead of pathetic political undertones.

There's nothing wrong with a left-wing bias. It generally comes from compassion and caring about others. If you don't like it, just go. No wants your right-wing evil and your insipid opinions. No one asked you.

This article tears down vulnerable women in their worst moments and crucifies them for their foibles. It gloats over the pain of women, whose only crime is to be human and flawed. Humans are truly monstrous at times

How does this article do this? There is very little, if any, editorializing. It simply states the facts, "A woman told me I was going to hell while I held her hand." If anything, this shows the empathy and care this nurse provides despite being attacked for doing the very thing the patient has come in for.

BP commenters are majority a bunch of filthy liberals with not a care for unborn children. The VAST MAJORITY of all abortions don't involve any birth defect, any danger to mom, nor rape or incest. It's simply killing perfectly healthy babies. CHOOSE LIFE!!!!

I think that the fact that humans are justifying killing unborn babies in the first place is horrible. They are humans to! Tell me im a moron or whatnot for thinking this. I dont care. But just remeber this. What if your mom aborted you?

If my mum aborted me then I wouldn’t care because I wouldn’t know any different. Especially as the awareness part of a foetuses brain isn’t even developed when abortions are done.
