There’s something so eerie and breathtaking about the places that haven’t seen a human for longer than they can remember. Sadly, in our increasingly urbanized world, there are not many corners left like this.
So today, we are taking you on a walk through the mysterious abandoned places where time stands still, and where yesterday and tomorrow don't exist. From ghost-like factories, ships, castles, islands, pools, and highways, below is a breath-taking collection that proves no force is as strong as that of nature. If left untouched, it swallows everything it crosses and that’s the whole beauty of it!

Abandoned House In The Republic Of Karelia, Russia
We live in times of rapid urbanization. In fact, it's projected that by 2050, more than two-thirds of the world population will live in urban areas. With a whopping population of 7.9 billion, it seems like no place on Earth is left untouched by humans. But as that likely will be the prospect in the coming century, today at least, we still have some no man’s lands and abandoned places to visit.

“Abandoned spaces are eerily fascinating to us because they bring human culture and nature together in unexpected ways,” Lisa Yaszek, a Regents Professor of Science Fiction Studies at Georgia Tech, told Bored Panda. Lisa researches and teaches science fiction as a global language crossing centuries, continents, and cultures.
She explained further: “We tend to think of humans as active and nature as passive, and we assume that the monuments and cities we build by manipulating the material world and separating ourselves from nature will last forever.”

It turns out that our fascination with abandoned places may come from the fact that they “remind us that nature is also an active force that moves in strong, slow, and persistent rhythms that differ from but intersect with cycles of human time.”
“In short, these places remind us that humans exist in larger webs of being, and that we might not be the most powerful thing around. It’s both a humbling and exhilarating recognition—we are not alone here on Earth,” Lisa explained.

Moreover, according to the professor, abandoned objects and places are also appealing because they invite imaginative play. “When we see worlds collide like this, we can’t help but wonder: what happened? How did things get this way? Then we get to exercise our deductive and storytelling abilities as we piece together clues to answer our own questions. Sometimes we do this for the sheer fun of it all.”
Lisa continued: “and other times, images of discarded objects and decaying places can even get us thinking about how we can make imaginative but real change in the real world: what economic, political, and social arrangements caused this to happen? How can I work with other like-minded people to make sure that doesn’t happen in my own part of the world?”
Abandoned Train
knew it looked familiar! That's in Russia, Permsky Krai, Shumkovo. Officially the trains are not abandoned, they've been left on those tracks for conservation after WWII as an emergency reserve in case of a new war. USSR fell, the trains were no longer needed, security was mosly removed. There are quite a few of them there, some are old, some are newer, some are even open. There's another currenly functioning train 'parking lot' (what's the word in English? it's like a winter base?) nearby. Some old trains have been recently removed but most are still there, it's a rather popular destination for photographers and fans of adandoned locations.

Bethlehem Steel, The Factory That Built NYC
I live in Bethlehem, its a monument to our past. That portion was left on purpose or can we say recycled as living history. There is a trellis you can walk where you can learn the history of the Beth steel and how it build this country not just NYC. If you are from this area for more than one generation likely someone in your family worked at the Steel. For me: my dad, uncle, grandmother and great uncle to name a few.
Abandoned Indigenous House In Papua New Guinea
I've seen documentary about a tribe that builds houses like this. They build it incredibly fast (few days). Whole tribe lives there including little kids, they can even make fire on stone foundation without worry as the wood used to build this is so hard it doesnt burn.

Electric Car Company Lot Left To Rot After Bankruptcy
Just think of all the rare earth metals, that we are incredibly short on, in the batteries. stupid humans.
Load More Replies...What an incredible waste... Rather leave them to rot than do something good with them. Why not give them to charity or something similar? A bureaucratic system that creates such waste is a broken system.
Not making light of what an awful waste of resources this is, but did the company go bankrupt because no one wanted to buy aqua & white striped cars?
Fleet vehicles maybe? Perhaps the company that ordered them went bankrupt?
Load More Replies...Aren’t those Mini Coopers? There are so many. My dad has one and they are so fun to drive around.
No, they're a Chinese knockoff model made by a company called Lifan.
Load More Replies...You'd think when they declared bankruptcy the bank would auction the cars off. At least that way they are being used and then bank recovers some costs even if it is minimal.
Due to liabilities I think they would have had to give them away free so there was no responsibility to the manufacture.
Load More Replies...They legit could have just given these away... this defeats the whole idea of electric cars doesn't it? You make electric cars to be more environmentally friendly.. so instead of just giving these away to people in need n like... moving us forward in terms of our carbon footprint... you're too greedy n hypocritical to actually do something that could change lives n help the planet. That's seriously infuriating.
Strange they were not liquidated. Perhaps these cars are not fully fitted so have little value to end consumers?
this makes me sad. just imagine the owner and workers having to find new jobs, and the materials wasted for all of those cars:(
No, they're a Chinese copy from a brand called Lifan.
Load More Replies...The Canada, the US and I think Australia have laws that prevent this. Even if the company went belly up, either the bank would take and sell them or this would be considered illegal dumping and the owner on the books would be held liable so they would scrap and sell them for parts
Very weird knowing that scrap metal alone would recoup some of the losses
It makes me so angry htat sh*t like this is allowed. The place i bancruppt - just sell this to a company to recycle!!
They went bankrupt because of the ridiculous paint scheme on their vehicles 🤣
Unfortunately that is pretty common in the industry; thousands of brand new cars get laid to rest on places like this 'cause they've been not sold. There are plenty of car cemeteries (owned by big players such as VW, Mercedes, Toyota etc.). Nowadays we're going to face another big problem before even finishing production of a car... due to lack of material (chips, semi-conductors etc.) many cars have to be taken out of production line and temporarily put into "car parks" as long as the materials are on stock for finishing the production of affected cars.
Looks like the parking lot at the local bay when every cable truck took a break at the same time. The 8-5 approximate arrival time was clearly illustrated for me that day. I went down the day of my "appointment" and had lunch with then. Told them I'd be back between 2 & 4:30 to meet whoever was scheduled to come.
Really??? Hundreds and hundreds of brand new cars with electric engines and nobody could figure out how to use the materials for ANYTHING??? Who the f**k is in charge of this messed up country???
So couldn't sell them for a fraction of the price and make a lil money back?
actually it was taken in China and they belong to Microcity ride sharing company
Instead of donating it or selling it dirt cheap to recuperate the losses, it’s just sitting in a lot???
