I Discovered An Abandoned $2.5 Million Mansion That Was Burned In A Fire With Everything Left Behind (22 Pics)
Hidden deep in the woods of upstate New York lies a spectacular abandoned mansion. The mansion was abandoned after an electrical fire broke out in the kitchen in 2018. The doors have been locked up…until now. Take a peek inside the abandoned millionaire’s mansion.

Share on FacebookAs much as I like viewing OLD, historic, abandoned structures, I despise it when the photographer chooses to stage the scene by adding dust-free elements! If you are interested in showing places of this ilk, they should be presented in their CURRENT state. Even better, juxtaposed with their FORMER state if one could be that lucky. Viewers want to see how the previous tenants lived.... NOT how the photographer thinks they should have.
I know what you mean, I know a guy who does breaks and enters abandoned buildings to take photos/recordings, and the state of 99% of places are dark, dusty, rotten, definitely no clean doilies or hats around! It's perfectly ok if it's staged, just make it clear
Load More Replies...This was a beautiful home but this series of pictures doesn't tell you any more. Anyone planning on repairing it? Why has it been left still furnished?.It doesn't seem the fire was everywhere.
Like you, I ALWAYS wish the back story was readily available in these types of photos and videos. Occasionally, with a bit of Google sleuthing one can find some details via the address, photo search etc. but more often then not, we are left to wonder.
Load More Replies...Wtf? This is totally redeemable. And anyone who can afford a $2.5 m house has insurance to cover the lost. I'm betting it was abandoned for some other reason (dirty money? Flee from authority? Owner died and had no kin or named executor?). The fire could have happened later. Either way, looks like a scavenger's paradise.
If you have that much money, you can also afford to just walk away from the place, move into another home and just consider the original home a "property investment" that you will sell when property values go up in that neighborhood.
Load More Replies...I found it interesting that a 2.5 Million Dollar Mansion would have a $1.00 nightlight in the master bathroom lol. Guess I have more in common with the elite than I realized.🙂
It's ok, they paid $50 for their $1 night light..
Load More Replies...So the fire happened in 2018, not quite 4 years ago maybe? I'll bet the owners are still fighting with the insurance company to get paid.
That is an assumption. Not necessarily the truth. The photographer may have been able to gain approval from the estate management/owner and been allowed to enter areas deemed safe. Even possibly paid a fee to do so. That would explain the lack of close-up photos in the kitchen.
Load More Replies...The owners obviously weren't Republican, the books haven't been burnt.
I can't believe someone would leave their hat collection behind, along with all their personal possessions and the valuable antiques. I love the old perambulator, and even all the books and photos. There has to be more to this story. Even if they had all the money in the world, it looks as thought there are things left behind that would be precious to someone for sentimental reasons if nothing else.
The fire happened just under 4 years ago. The owners could very possibly still be fighting with the insurance company, & generally until the insurance pays out, the owner isn't allowed to start any rehab, or even remove possessions, especially if arson/insurance fraud is suspected. It also could have been repossessed by the mortgage company & they just haven't bothered. We had a home in our neighborhood that has sat empty since late 2018 - the husband died suddenly & his widow apparently has been battling with the insurance or mortage & just last month was finally able to sell it. All the 'red tape' involved can create a years long nightmare.

But sadly in 2018 a fire broke out forcing the family to leave everything behind. Thankfully no one was injured in the fire. But the home may never see a new family again. Also said that smoke filled the mansion forcing family to leave everything behind and that they moved to a new town.
If it's not going to be rebuilt/repaired, why doesn't the owner, court, whoever, have a salvage company come in and take what can be sold and tear the rest down. Possibly, there is an insurance fraud case pending or the insurance company ruled it a fraud case and refused to pay. I'd still go the salvage route if so. So many questions, so few answers.
Alternate title: I trespassed and unlawfully entered private property and posted pictures of someone's private home on the internet without their permission.
Yeah, but that is not what happened. The real title: I spend days hunting for and carefully researching the location of abandoned homes, and then contact the owner/city and pay for the right to enter and take pictures. They give me keys, I take staged pictures, and then I claim that I 'stumbled across it'
Load More Replies...Given the size of the mansion, it likely has more than 1 kitchen. The fire was but a scratch and unlikely to be the reason the entire home was vacated. Now being put under the witness protection program because you ratted out the mob is likely the reason they left.
Wow I want to find an old place and take pics and I’m surprise there’s no graffiti and nothing has been taken or stolen there’s some really nice artifacts there?!!
Well, I wonder who's watering the pot plants in this 'abandoned' house? Sure, the plant on the dining room table might be fake, but the moth orchid on the cabinet with the alcohol bottles looks pretty real - its got roots climbing down the outsides of the pot like the real ones do.
"Burned in a fire"? Is there another way to burn a house? I find this redundant and repetitive.
The Holy Qur'an has stressed the importance of fairness in business: "And, O my people, give full measure and weight justly, and defraud not men of their things, and act not corruptly in the land making mischief. What remains with Allah is better for you, if you are believers" (xi. 85-86).
