This German American House Was Left Behind With All Its Belonging Still Inside (17 Pics)
The abandoned house of a German American family sits secluded in the woods. The inside is a time capsule of family heirlooms and vintage furnishings. Take a step inside through the pictures below. As an urban explorer, I am always seeking out the most interesting abandoned places. Ones filled with objects left behind, that can tell a story. Those that ask questions like why would this happen or what happened to a family that they would leave everything behind? Sometimes the questions are better left unanswered, as the imagination can truly be the best storyteller. This goes for an abandoned house of a German American family that I recently found. It sits secluded in the woods, and the inside is a time capsule of family heirlooms and vintage furnishings. Take a step inside through the pictures below.

Share on FacebookFind it very odd. The inside looks like they were stuck in the 60's, but the car outside looks modern.
My friends and I used to explore houses like this when we were kids in the 80s. So many families back then never bought anything new except cars and appliances and, for whatever reason, they'd just up and leave. Once we went by a farmhouse and saw a newish car in the barn and—naturally—still went inside to dig around. A squatter was hiding in one of the closets and scared the bejeezus out of us!
Load More Replies...This looks staged, like a post-Apocalyptic movie set. The exterior paint on the house is not weathered. There’s Hollywood stunt debris carefully and evenly (!) scattered around the perimeter of a room, but nothing in the middle of the floor, dust-free objects artfully placed next to more detritus, mismatched objects from very different eras, but not positioned in places where they would normally be kept, and where are all the dead roaches, flies, ants, mice, rats, spider webs, mold and fungus, etc.?
You can say or believe what you want but this was how the house looked when I entered it and left it. So regardless of what you think it looks like I can assure that was not the case.
Load More Replies...Have to comment again because this is ridiculous. OP how can you say this is not staged by you? Pictures do not lie, you stated you took these as you found them. How do you explain the moving objects? Images 6 and 12, a chair magically disappears. 14 and 16, the left most picture propped up against jewelry box lid is now at a different angle, white box at lower right of jewelry box is in one pic but not the other, framed flower print behind jewelry box has been moved to give better shot for you to take a picture, it is flat against mirror in one pic, and angled in another. 6, 12 and 13, holy s**t a wild camera magically appears on the left side of mirror. Need I go on? There is more. Don't say this is "Exactly how I found it" when in fact you did alter it.
Dang, son. We got a Sherlock Holmes up in here. Good catch!

Kenny - THANK YOU. Not just because I'm German, just because; why?

Personally, if this truly an abandoned house that I "stumbled upon", I would have further investigated the back story... gone to the town hall, checked out who owned it when, how long it had been abandoned (check tax records),who were the last know inhabitants, looked up any details in the newspaper about the family.... but that's just me, I'm fascinated by this and I would have had to do more than take photos....plus with all the letters and papers scattered about there was probably information that could have helped. The photos a cool, but a good back story would have completed the piece.
In the room with the piano, do I see a thermostat on the wall? And I would also assume the deer's antlers would be a mess of cobwebs.

Load More Replies...Looks staged to me. For example, the typewriter stand has clumps of dirt and debris on it, but the ceiling above it is fine. Who put the clumps of debris on the stand?
Critters? That was my thought with all the scattered bits of paper. I wonder if it was a film set somebody abandoned after they were done.
Load More Replies...A mystery, in such a case as this, it''s possible that someone came and took the family away, it seems that they were unable to take anything with them, some precious belongings they would not choose to leave behind, it looked as though they began to pack, but were stopped, as well as the vehicles they didn't use to leave, perhaps, a good mystery !!!
Why are the vehicles from the 90s but the home decor AND clothing from around the 60s?
This is staged. The items on the vanity have been rearranged. You have modern card, antique photos, mid century furniture, 70's striped sheets, and just a general mishmash of stuff from no particular decade. I call shenanigans, or you simply "stumbled" on a staged house.
I have a "mishmash" of furniture and items from many decades in my home. It's called "eclectic ".

I photographed the house as I entered it and took pictures exactly how I found it.
Load More Replies...Odd how there is so much dirt and dust and yet the lamps and ornaments are dust free, including the artificial flowers. I call BS on this one. If the author is telling the truth, he should give us the address to check it out.
Why would I give the address? So that people can go and loot and vandalize it?
Load More Replies...The person who wrote the article appears to have several on here of the same nature. Surely he has a bit more history on the house and how he became interested in it and who did live there, because that would be on record with the local courthouse or such appropriate venue. Surely he will comment on the question being posed by all the fellow panda's on here. Good luck everyone.
The OP may have found it like this but I agree that this was staged for some reason.
All those personal items and the suitcase are just simply left behind. I wonder what happend to the family to make them leave everything and why everything was simply left like that for so long (some parts look a bit staged but I assume that was the photographer so it could be better visible)
