Woman Asked For Help On Social Media After Finding Abandoned Dog With A Note “I’m Sorry, Please Take Care Of Her”
Those who have or have had pets can understand how much joy they can bring to people’s lives. However, not everyone appreciates animal company and sometimes our buddies get abandoned by their guardians. But we are here not to spread sadness. On the contrary! Today we want to share a story of a dog that, after being left alone, found a new home and a loving family.
On the 19th of December, Lais Chesine Monfrinato, a resident of Mairinque, Brazil, created a post on Facebook with a photo of a dog that was looking for a new home. The animal was left by her door with a note “I am sorry, please take care of her.” Lais was surprised to find an abandoned dog left only with a blanket, some food and the note. The woman didn’t have much space in her house since she had three adopted cats already, so she asked for help on social media. Luckily, one of her friends, Rosane Carraco, who was moved by the story, decided to adopt the dog. Lais knew how good Rosane is with animals, so she didn’t think twice and decided to give the pet to her friend.
The animal was received by the new family on the 26th of December as a Christmas present and was given a new name: Lua. In one of the interviews, Rosane revealed that she was concerned at first. The woman had a two-year-old dog, Mel, so she didn’t know if the two dogs would be able to live together. But her worries went away as soon as both animals met. They immediately became best friends.

“How a human being, if you can call a person that, can do this? You abandoned an animal and just walked away. They left this sweet girl at my home this morning,” Lais shared on the 19th of December on Facebook.
Lais created a post on Facebook asking for someone to adopt the dog since she didn’t have enough space for a new pet

Luckily Lais’ friend, Rosane, agreed to take the dog and named her Lua

In one of her interviews, Lais revealed that Rosane, who is her boss, saw her post on Facebook and immediately called Lais on WhatsApp saying that she wanted to be with the dog. “I didn’t think twice, because I know the affection and love that she and her family give to animals.”
Lua stayed at Lais’ house for a week before she went to Rosane’s house. Everything was prepared for her arrival.
Rosane was worried at first that Lua would not get along with Mel, her other dog. To the woman’s relief, the two immediately became best friends

Rosane shared that Lua still doesn’t recognize the name when she calls her, but the dog is getting used to it. Mel and Lua get along very well. Lua accepts the fact that Mel is in charge here. “The two are happy.”
Lua’s future was unclear, but now she has a new home and a loving family

Share on Facebookthe owner did seem to care about the dog, but maybe was unable to care for it. It reminds me of that post about a boy who tied his dog to a bench in the park. He loved his dog and hated his father abusing the dog, so he wanted the dog saved...
That was my first thought too. That her previous owner was desperate. If there was a dog pound, most likely she would have been euthanized. ( even in my small town, the local pound euthanized over 2000 animals a year). This wasnt a good choice, but when do we ever get good choices to choose from? It's mostly trying to make the best of a bad lot. Obviously this dog had been loved. And is loved now.

I had to do this when I was 18 yrs old. I'm 45 and the guilt has never left me. With tears in my eyes... Thank you. I have never been able to see it that way. But that was exactly the case. Thank you for understanding. Much love to you.
Load More Replies...The blanket looks as it belonged to a little girl, the pink leash indicates the same. The bag of food is not cheap and the handwritten, grammarly correct note indicate some concern for Lua's wellbeing. She's seems to be in good condition, comes to show that she was not neglected. In brazilian portuguese, "me desculpe" means more than simply "I'm sorry", it's more like "I did not want to to this". I agreee with the comments, the previous owner was probably left with no other option and tried to give this girl a better chance, ratter than simply abandon her.
Thanks for a translation which cleaves more closely to the heartbreaking essence of the situation.
Load More Replies...Today someone in my country threw a puppy in the sea inside a sealed plastic bag! The puppy didn't make it! At least I'm glad that this owner gave a chance to the dog and didn't throw it like garbage!! Yes my expectations are very low for us humans! We don't deserve dogs!
Someone threw my new adopted kitten out of the car window while speeding down an American interstate. There are some evil people out there.
Load More Replies...That she was abandoned with a pink blanket and a bag of food leads me to think she was loved by someone. She also seems to be a sweet friendly dog, from the photos, which is another indicator of care. Backtracking confirms this is in Brazil, which I've heard has few shelters and those overwhelmed.
Last year I was in a position where we were about to lose our house because we couldn't pay the mortgage and I didn't know where I would go with my dogs since it's insanely difficult to find pet-friendly rentals here and it's usually they are *much* more expensive. For the first time I had to consider that I might have to surrender them to a shelter (bear in mind at a shelter they might be put down if they can't be rehomed). It broke my heart in a gazillion pieces. But the alternative was what exactly? To live on the street with my daughter and two dogs? To rent a home I can't afford and then not have money to feed my daughter and dogs? Point is, don't judge people so harshly if you have no idea what their situation is. I think this dog was loved and very much cared for. (Edit: in the end we were able to save the situation and keep the house and the dogs)
I am so happy you were able to bring things around. I was desperate at one point, but fortunately I have a sister who was able to keep my big dog until I got back on my feet, and it broke my heart to do even that, because I know my girl didn't understand what was happening. I agree, lots of fast judgements here... and without knowing the full story it may be based on a completely wrong impression. My heart really went out to this woman, and to you.
Load More Replies...One of my very first rescue dogs was a black lab pup who was sealed in a plastic bag and thrown in a dumpster... the sanitation workers discovered her in time, thankfully, and she came to me. People can be indescribably cruel, I've seen some of the worst, and it pains me to even think about it, locking dogs in carriers and throwing them into the street or the ocean, driving to the middle of nowhere to dump them. I am glad that Lua found the home she deserved, and it seems the original parent did the best she could for her. It must have broken her heart to have left her there. If I was the one who found her, I would post a big note in the spot she was left "SHE'S OK AND IN A LOVING HOME" just to give her some relief.
Well, I'm assuming the woman who abandoned the dog felt heartbroken over having to do it.
I always try not to be judgemental with this. When I was 16 I had to abandon my cat because my mom's boyfriend threatened to kill him and threw him across the dining room into the living room shortly after he kicked me out and I was homeless do I wouldn't have been able to properly take care of that cat. I loved my little guy so much and the best thing I could do for his safety and quality of life was get him a new home. (Dropped him in front of a friend's aunt house in a box, she was a huge cat lover so I knew she'd take him and she did.) It still breaks my heart to think about and I think about that cat all the time. I hope he had an amazing life.
I hope you and your mom are okay. The kind of person who would throw a teen out and a cat across the room is clearly not someone to be around if you can help it
Load More Replies...Who could not care for a lovely dog like that! I bet who ever did this loved this dog very much. I bet she stayed until she saw the dog was safely in some ones heart!
I don't think we should shame someone who at least gave their dog a chance at a good life compared the alternative of neglect or abuse. I know that no-kill shelters are usually at capacity and don't take dogs in that are surrenders. We have a system in place for people to bring their children to a fire department or hospital without fear of getting in trouble for it. It'd be nice if we had something similar for pets. People really need to spay and neuter their pets and not breed their dogs because they think it's cute or want to make money. There are so many animals that need homes so we really need to quit adding more. I know that we do need to keep breeds alive, but that should be left to professionals.
I always wonder what someone's situation is to abandon a pet. We have an area that is a long time outdoor cat community with committed caregivers. Multiple cats have been abandoned over the years & integrated. Some are taken in by locals. My heart would die if my life was at the point I had to surrender my fluffy one but some domestic situations don't leave many choices.
Due to circumstances beyond our control, we had to give our beloved dog away years ago. We arranged for a new home and didn't just drop him somewhere, but I know this feeling. When the car pulled away with my dog in it and we got back in our car without him, I made a shrill crying scream that I never want to make again. Easily in the top three hardest things I've ever had to do in my life. Sometimes you love something so much but it's just not enough to fix a situation.
this is wonderful, but i am interested why the owner didn't go to a shelter if it was possible?
It depends on where they are based. A lot of shelters, especially in countries such as Brazil, are practically overflowing and if they're full, they're more likely to just euthanize the animal since they have no room. The pup likely had a better chance this way.
Load More Replies...Unfortunate that it had to happen, but it did, and now she has a kindhearted home.
Know this dog was loved by it's last owner! Food and a blanket a nice leash also! So it's not like the dog was abandoned because of money! We will never know why her owners gave her up but they had to have a good reason as she looks loved and cared for! Saying all that people who love dogs love dogs! We take in or help dogs that need it! Much as most of us are appalled by what was done it makes us dog loves want to take that dog in more! Love the dog more and try to find it's forever home! Not saying this his how it should be done at all! I'm saying if death in a shelter or hope that a dog lover would find my dog and take care of them! I'd place my hope on the dog lovers of this world!
This beautiful girl was loved enough to be left with a note and food for her. She wasn’t just discarded on the side of the road somewhere. The person could not care FOR her, but definitely cared ABOUT her ❤️
I can understand that one can be in a position where he/she cannot take care of their dog,, any longer. What I cannot understand ist why they don't find a new home for their pet. We have internet! There are üeople out there looking for a canine addition to thier family. It is not impossible to rehome a dog well and do this transition gently
It sucks etc. But can we not judge? That's why there are people who opt for far less humane ways to surrender an animal. Whoever they are, they did the right thing instead of keeping a dog they'd likely neglect or mistreat somehow. We don't know why people do what they do sometimes so don't judge. It's about the dog now.
At least the person who left the dog also left food and a blanket and did not leave her in a wood never to be found, no one knows the circumstances of other people's life's , so in my view he or she loved their dog but must have been unbearable too give her up but did through her love for the dog ,
Lovely name Lua. She caught a lucky break. Reminds me of one of my favorite songs, Lua, Lua, Lua, Lua. I happen to hold the Gal Costa version off Cantar in high esteem.
If this is nearby, I will pick the pooch. I wish him good luck , such a cutie 🥰
Better than leaving it in a dumpster or a closed box. Idk whats wrong with those people. An animal can't open a Box
Glad everything turned out okay. Lua now has a loving home. Hope the previous owner is alright too.
I did see something like this on pitbulls and parolees a man had to aboned is dog tho he truly loved her very sad :(
A mate who was staying with us for Christmas ran over a cat on Christmas or Boxing Day (can't remember which it was 25 years ago), we went and and caught it, (it was limping) phoned the local emergency who agreed to meet us and we drove over. Because it was cold I stayed in the car with the cat and he went on knocked on the door. There was a large carboard box on the doorstep and he heard it mewing, picked it up, 6 kittens. We brought them in the car and turned the heaters on full blast to warm the poor buggers up. If we hadn't been there they would have died. Would sort of an arsehole leaves any animal outside a property without checking that someone's there to care for them. Anyway, all cats were fine and my mate paid the bill for the one he ran over, we put up flyers in the neighborhood and the owners got their cat back. There was nothing wrong with the one he ran over just bruises as we had speed bumps on our road so he was going around 10mph and stopped quickly.
Thank you for saving them! When I first got into animal rescue, decades ago, the president of the group I was with told me "NEVER give anyone your address" and when I asked why, she said people would dump animals off in the middle of the night. One of the rescuers had a litter of seven tiny puppies die because she was away on vacation when someone dumped the carrier on her porch. People can be both stupid and cruel, and sadly, too often they're both at once!
