Puppy Abandoned At The Airport Had A Heartbreaking Note From His Owner, And It’ll Make You Cry
Meet Chewy, a 3-month-old Chihuahua who was found injured and left alone inside a Las Vegas airport. But before you judge his owner, just be aware that the doggie was left with the following heart-breaking note…
“Hi! I’m Chewy! My owner was in an abusive relationship and couldn’t afford me to get on the flight. She didn’t want to leave me with all her heart but she has NO other option. My ex-boyfriend kicked my dog when we were fighting and he has a big knot on his head. He probably needs a vet. I love Chewy sooo much — please love and take care of him.”
Luckily, one kind person soon found the doggie and took him to Connor and Millie’s Dog Rescue. That’s where the founder of the shelter, Lindia Gilliam, first learned Chewy’s story.
“My heart dropped to my knees,” Gilliam told The Dodo. “I didn’t hesitate to accept him and instructed my foster to immediately get him to an ER.”
Gilliam says this shows the difficult situation of pet owners in abusive relationships. “This is a very overlooked issue as a whole,” Gilliam said. “We also wanted to try and get the message to Chewy’s mom that she did a brave thing and that he is safe and will have a great life.”

Chewy the Chihuahua is doing very well and will be up for adoption soon
We hope for a bright future for the doggie and his brave mum who walked away from abuse
And who knows – maybe one day, when they’re both back on their feet, they will be reunited again

Share on FacebookPoor baby. So glad, she made the brave choice of getting out of that abusive relationship and the very brave choice of getting her little baby help in an unconventional way. It must have been very difficult for her, especially not knowing what would come happen to her puppy. Hope she's in a safe place and the cutie fluffball quickly finds a forever home
You can tell from her handwriting she was pretty upset, stressed, heartbrokened, etc. Hope too she's ok now. I'm sure she already saw all posts about Chewie and knows he is fine and has tons of people asking to adopt him. Lets hope they can reunite some day.
Load More Replies...I know how difficult leaving abuse can be. 3 years of it and no access to a phone or outside if i did anything wrong in his mind I would be beat up. I finally ran out with nothing but my backpack of clothes. Good luck to both of you. I hope you're happy now and you're puppy is adopted soon.
I am so proud of his previous owner for doing something that would have been sooo very hard to do. No different than having to give away a human child. I hope she is safe and maybe can even be re-united with the gorgeous little Chewy one day.
At the risk of being slammed for my comments, I cannot help but ask, on the way to the airport, how come she couldn't drop him at a shelter?
A valid question, but I'd agree with Wanda. And if she was running from an abusive situation, planning ahead prob wasn't in the cards.

This almost made me cry... I'm glad her mom left the abusive dude, but my heart breaks to imagine how hard it must had been for her to leave her puppy. She must be thinking about him everyday. And with that lovely face on the last photo... just to think about this puppy being away from her human mum... I'm not gonna cry... I'm not gonna cry!!
Good luck to her and I hope she is safe now. As for Chewy, thank god she took him out of that abusive relationship. I'm hopeful Chewy will be adopted by a loving family soon. I would adopt him myself if I wasn't so far away in PA.
What a brave and smart decision this owner made. Kudos to her and I sincerely hope she finds safety, security, & love in her new surroundings. I hope Chewey finds a forever home, and, or possibly, they get reunited in the future. Smart move to leave an abusive relationship! My prayers & thoughts.
I pray for not only their safety and wellbeing but that maybe there Is A way of bringing the two back together . I have been the victim of domestic violence myself and I know that my two little Chi's where the only things that I felt real love and acceptance from. That was a very UNSELFISH THING the young Lady did by leaving him like that to get the medical attention and care Chewy needed. She must not only feel scared and lost but now completely alone without the love of her little friend. My heart is breaking for her. I hope that this act of real love don't go unnoticed and somehow they are brought back together where they Geelong.
I've fallen in love. I never thought i would find another Chihuahua cuter than mine but chewy is the cutest fluffball i have ever seen. It must have been so hard for her to give him up but she did what she had to do to make sure she was safe.
If he's still available I would adopt him in a heartbeat. He would be my Maltese Jack's baby brother and playmate.
She did the best thing she could for her fur baby. I hope she is okay too.
Praying for the mom and hoping one day she is reunited with him or at least knows he is safe and well.
Find the sob and beat the c**p out of him. The world would be better off if he were kicked off the planet.
I hope him and his mom are safe and that they will reunite again. I know that he still remembers his mom with all of his heart.
Being in an abusive relationship is a real hell. And, undoubtedly, the owner of the dog acted correctly, interrupting these relations. But let's imagine that she had not a dog, but a child? Would it be "cute and touching story" that she would leave him at the airport? I do not equate children and dogs. But both are a our great responsibility. And we must bear this responsibility. P.S. I am the owner of three dogs who have made many crossings with me. Sometimes we had to choose more complicated ways, but we managed it. And yes, I, too, was in an abusive relationship.
We need to find her and reunite them. We also need to find the ex that kicked the puppy. I'd REALLY like to meet him.
Abuse ruins everything. This is putting even animals at risk for danger, I'm glad Chewy was found. This country is going to s**t with abuse.
That is so kind that this person saved this little puppy. I am in love!
Does anyone else think he looks like Bolt? You know, that dog in that animated movie? Especially in his smiling photos..
What a cute dog. It looks like he's winking in the second last picture with the superman doll. ;-)
The pain the little fella had to endure when being kicked breaks my heart to even think about. He and his little defenceless body didnt deserve to feel any human cruelty and pain :'(
This little Chihuahua is sooooo cute. I love him and wish I could take him myself.
I hope that the owner hears of this. Sometimes we have NO idea what ppl. have to struggle with in their lives. This one had me teary-eyed. So glad for Chewy!!!!
who's gonna take care of the poor girl :( probably with even more injuries
Wow...I relate so much...I got to keep my pet, but we went through it together...
This just made me tear up..awww chewy I hope you find a loving home.Youŕe such a beautiful puppy.
We would love to adopt him we can give him a really good home please contact me at your earliest convenience and I will come and get him and pay for his as adoption and any other cost that might come up
I hope Chewy's mom is safe and that she is able to see the love people have for her baby. I can't imagine having to leave my greyhound behind.
Please I would like to discuss the possibility of adoption ! I had a special needs chi that I loved completely; and have longed for another one. Just mean chi not special needs!
She loved Chewy enough to do what was best for the poor little guy I hope she gets and stays far from her abuser
Heel verdrietig. Ik hoop dat beiden een veilig en liefdevol huis vinden.
The owner did what was right, though the LV airport isn't a safe place. I was there a couple of days ago, to much gambling drunks.

Kalaxan, what's that got to do with this post?
