Blind Pitbull Abandoned On Park Bench After Giving Birth Finally Gets The Love She Deserves

Abandoning pets is never cool, but abandoning a blind dog who’s sick and scared out of her wits is an especially inconceivable act. Unfortunately, that’s what happened to Poly, this loveable blind pitbull who was rescued from a public park in Santa Barbara, California.
In addition to her abandonment, Poly also suffers from heart and skin conditions, and it was clear that she had recently given birth, though the puppies couldn’t be found nearby. Fortunately for her, she was found by the Santa Barbara County Animal Services, who have put her up with a foster home until they can find her a permanent home. Thankful for the people who rescued her, sad about the puppies, and the idiots who did this to her should be horsewhipped.
What scares me, is the same people who did this to her most likely have the puppies. HOPEFULLY, they just want to sell them. HOPEFULLY they won't sell them to people who will use them in illegal dog fighting. Hopefully they didn't take her pups just so that they can be used in illegal fighting rings. ----------------- Sadly, that's a LOT to hope for, and considering the complete lack of any compassion or conscience they had about abandoning Poly, I'm afraid my hopes for her pups are not likely to come true either. So really, the only thing we can hope is that the police find her former owners and lock them up BEFORE the pups are abused, abandoned, sold or forced to fight.

When you have a pet, you have a responsibility towards it. That does NOT mean dumping the animal just because you don't want it. Have these people not heard of rehoming? Right, folks?

How could they do this to her? I had a wonderful dog who became diabetic and blind at the age of 5. I had to give her insulin shots for the last 8 years of her life, but her blindness never got in the way of enjoyment or joy of life. She was a very bright and wonderful dog. I would not have given her up for anything. Unfortunately she died at age 13, but had a happy life with us and 2 other dog rescue siblings.
I'm very sorry for your loss, she sounds wonderful. I can't imagine why anyone would abandon such a lovely dog as above, it's heartless.
What kind of subhuman would do this? I thinks the residents of Santa Barbara just might take this up and start this investigative effort. There needs to be a widespread investigation as to who owned this dog, then arrest, prosecute them with the longest possible sentencing IN A PRISON to the fullest extent of the law, and upon release (unless a cellmate "takes care" of this person) require 5 years of community service CLEANING THE CAGES OF THE LOCAL SHELTER.
I'm pretty sure the pups are going to get sold in some random pet shop and since the dog is useless for them, she was abandoned. Heartless!

Unbelievably sad and horrifying that there are more and more inhumane losers out there who'd do such a thing! Thinking maybe these bastards took her puppies for profit before abandoning her. Poor girl! Relieved to know, that there are caring human being out there taking her in, just in time.

I'm with Rebecca - we definitely need to bring back "horse" whipping for people who would treat an animal so cruelly. More importantly though - I seriously hope the police are searching for Poly's former owner (aren't there security cameras everywhere these days?), and lock them up before her pups end up being used as "bait" for dog fighting... or get locked on a chain somewhere, starving, until it's time for them to fight themselves. We all KNOW that's the only reason the person who abandoned Poly wanted her pups!

I really hate people who are so demented they have to pick on animals instead of on people who at least have a chance of defending themselves and attacking their predators. What power do animals have? I feel sorry the predators where raised in an abusive environment so that they became sadistic but draw the line at alleviating them of punishment for their deeds. I, too, hope the worst possible fate comes upon them as early as possible to minimize their capacity to cause harm to the helpless!!!

i guess, after pitbull gave birth the owner decide to leave her in the park. the babies was the one who left from the owner. My advice to all owners who don't like anymore their pets, go directly to animals rescue center instead of leaving your pet alone the street.

I don't know this kind of evil & hate...I have never felt it in my heart, so anytime I see such horrible cruel acts I am so confused & hurt as to how someone could do this...My wish for the ppl that did this is for them to feel what *WE* feel when we see these sad depressing, sometimes stomach turning sickening acts. If they could feel what we all feel combined they wouldn't ever smile again.

No, I agree with you, Potato. Some coments are indeed over the top. I believe you can't judge a person without knowing what caused them to make such cruel acts in the first place. Sure, it's easy to assume people are generally less sensitive to pets and animals in general, especially when their health condition takes too much money to be taken carw of, but that's not neccessarily the case. And also, as you say, people can regret what they do and can be forgiven. But whatever happened, wishing someone death or pain just makes these people same as the "evildoer".
