Quick, what are the first three things that pop into your head when I say the words “Pizza Hut?” For me, it’s wholesome evenings out with my family, thick crust pizza, and those massive iron pans that they used to bring pizzas out in. However, the Pizza Hut from yesteryear now only exists in our memories and photos.
Ricky Cobb, the founder of the Super 70s Sports Twitter account, created a viral thread about Pizza Hut nostalgia. The thread got more than 95.2k likes and over 20.9k retweets and people shared their own memories about what the pizza chain used to be like.
We’ve collected some of the most nostalgic memories about Pizza Hut, dear Pandas, so enjoy it while it’s piping hot and fresh. Scroll down, upvote your fave pics, and let us know what you miss about Pizza Hut. Oh, and when you’re done, have a look through Bored Panda’s list about McDonald’s nostalgia from the ‘80s and ‘90s right here.

From the exterior and interior to the glassware, children’s literacy programs, and the price of the food, Pizza Hut used to be an entirely different beast. Or, as one Twitter user put it, “To some, it was just a Pizza Hut, but to us, it was a Pizza Home.”
Staying relevant in the world of pizza is a nonstop battle. According to CNN, pizza-lovers tend to flock to whatever restaurant has the best promotions. So to stay in the game you have to make changes. Even to the things that you love.
One teeny example: Pizza Hut announced in 2019 that after 3 years of research and development, it changed its pan pizzas for the first time in 40 years.
In a previous interview with Bored Panda, Ricky, the founder of Super 70s Sports, told us that he started the Twitter feed more than 5 years ago as a hobby.
“Figured I’d try to entertain my friends and make some new ones. It has been an incredible experience. I’ve always loved comedy, sports, and nostalgia. I thought some other folks might too. But I never would’ve thought over 300,000 followers was realistic,” he said. Ricky’s account is now closer to 400k followers than 300k and the number of fans keeps growing.
According to Ricky, he wanted to blend his love of nostalgia, comedy, pop culture, and nostalgia in one place where people can “share some laughs, interact, and enjoy a sense of community.”
I never got served a drink in the red glasses - it was always a clear glass. I feel cheated.
This looks like some pizza-style quiche or pie... and if it was, it must have been great!
I have not been to a Pizza Hut in years. But I used to go to Pizza Hut every weekend I got the chance.
It does seem that an emphasis on aesthetics has been lost over time and you can apply it to nearly anything. Remember when cars were actually beautiful or cool? Now everything is the same.

1995 - Pizza Hut - Commercial featuring Donald Trump ... Coincident? I think not. That dumbass ruins everything
You seem to ruin everything for yourself. He is not your door mat to blame your lot in life on.
Load More Replies...My mom always chose "Nights in white satin" on the jukebox. Also in middle school, there was a cafeteria line that was pizza. Pepperoni was the only choice, but that's my favorite anyway. The school would rotate through Pizza Hut personal pan only cut in half, little Caesars, and mr Gattis. I'd alway look forward to the Pizza Hut week.
I remember Mr. Gattis! Lots of cheese on their pies~yum.
Load More Replies...Do you not have sit down Pizza Hut with salad bars now?? We do in Britain. All you can eat buffet lunch is epic. (I mean, obviously not lockdown now, but old now, like 4 months ago now)
Yea in much of America it's getting harder to find sit down Pizza Huts at all
Load More Replies...I can't believe how much sugar I consumed as a child from those red plastic cups, we'd get at least a pitcher for a family of 5, usually we'd get a second pitcher. (the key was to drink all of the soda from the first pitcher before the pizza arrived then tell mom and dad we needed another one)
I can't believe nobody mentioned the free DVD promo they had! I ended up getting Weekend at Bernie's through that promo!
We still have an all-you-can-eat Pizza hut, it’s not that much different than the 90’s except the toys, some of the decor and special menu items.
Pizza Hut was my first job (early 2000's) and they were DRASTICALLY different than in the 90s... Sooooo much oil in their pans- yuck!
I haven't been to a Pizza Hut in 20 years. I kinda expected it was still like this.
My husband was in the military in California. One night (1974) he, both kids, I and a friend of my husband went to a Pizza Hut. The guys got so drunk, that when we were leaving, they picked up the pizza pan with leftover pizza, and we left. I STILL have that pan and use it to make pizza on. That pan is 45 years old!
We used to go by there walking home from school. We would put our money together and order a medium pizza and a pitcher of pepsi, play music on the jukebox and many sit down table style video games. We stopped going when arcades opened up. I still miss the pizza though.
Sadly, the Pizza Hut in our town closed last year because of lack of business.
There is a Pizza Hut in my dads hometown and he hadn't been there since he was a kid, and I love Pizza Hut. He says that there was a basement there for birthday parties and it was closed down so ...
You should know that they still have the Book It! Program www.bookitprogram.com
There is I think only one or 2 remaining sit down pizza huts in Illinois and they're both hard to get to from my area and I'm sad
Now the pizza hat in my country have an offer for classic rock vinyl disks
Ahhh yes Pizza Hut! My jam in the 80s. My younger sister and I loved this commercial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfnB8BW6iSM
Yeah, actually it was number pizza chain, for about 10years in a row. The some genius decided it would be more "cost effective " do go to frozen dough, then cheaper ingredients. MG, how I hate that term, all it means is lower quality and/or overworked employees, which winds up losing money in the long run
